In the tradition of Hello, Goodbye, and Everything in Between, this smart and emotional romance told through playlists and memories follows two young teens struggling to hold onto each other as their friendship changes. Smart author, so good, enjoy every page from this book.
I liked this story of Immie and Jack and how their friendship grows and changes as they get older.
I wasn't expecting to learn about Immie's family history. She talks in the beginning about being conceived through IVF and we then later learn that there is a lot more to the story.
I liked seeing Immie and Jack dealing with real feelings. And even though they go though some stuff and their friendship is rocky for a bit. I think that time helped them figure out more of themselves and move forward together.
A good middle grade to high school read that addresses real life feelings and friendships.
Thanks NetGalley for this ARC.
Told from dual points of view, Immie and Jack have been best friends since they were seven. Once high school things begin to change. Jack is on the varsity soccer team, and Immie is trying to find more friends. There is hand holding at events and others think Immie and Jack like each other but nothing is said or done. Even though Jack tells his teammates Immie is not her girlfriend, Immie is realizing she’s crushing on Jack. Then something happens, and Immie tells Jack I need space. He ignores her in school. What happens now? Will they talk again? Will they ever be friends again?
