I don't often delve into the the world of the fae but Geneva Lee's name comes up again and again in conversation with other book besties.

I was captivated by the world and the characters in the 'alternate' New Orleans in Filthy Rich Fae and overall enjoyed the reading experience.

An ok read that might pull me back for further installments.

Cate is a nurse at Gage Memorial in New Orleans and the older (foster) sister to one brother, Channing. Cate is unaware of Magic of any kind and when her brother shows up with a gunshot wound one night in her ER she’s upset and ticked off. Channing tries to tell her that the Gage’s aren’t what they seem, but she’s not really listening and all she’s thinking about is clearing Channing’s debt with Lachlan Gage.

So she does what any dumb older sister in a book does, and she goes to find Lachlan Gage to settle her brothers doubt, not realizing the Gage’s are Fae and this is no normal debt.

What follows is
•a Fae bargain that Cate continues to try to find ways to get out of;
•enemies to lovers;
•banter that will make you giggle;
•opposites attract, as Cate and Lachlan have opposing personalities;
•Forbidden love, as the ruler of a kingdom is only allowed to marry another of high status;
•Mafia Vibes, as the Fae run New Orleans as a form of mafia disguised as humans

Ending on a a gasp worthy cliffhanger, leaving Cate and Lachlan’s future to question, this book has us sucked in the entire time that we are reading it.

I absolutely loved it, and all thoughts and comments are mine. Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing and Amara for the gifted copy.

Swoon. This book was one that I just could not put down once I started. The writing style, plot, and romance all had me totally invested. I loved that Lachlan Gage was morally grey and I also really enjoyed Cate's character. They are both such likable characters and their banter was perfection. The cliffhanger ending has me SO ready to read the next book in this series!

Thank you to Entangled and NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a 4.75star read.

I'm not fully certain of what I expected when I started reading Filthy Rich Fae, but it exceeded my expectations.

Now, Cate, my girl, I fully understand your intentions to spare your brother of HIS poor choices, but you did not think too many of your actions all the way through... You basically chased that man (Gage) around with your kitty kat and to be fair - I get it. Gage, you are the book boyfriend I did not expect.. nor am I mad at.

This book gave me the feels, I rolled my eyes, I gasped and even had moments where I agreed with the commentary of the main and side characters. There were plot twist I did not anticipate and that ending!? I'm a fan! I need to keep up to catch the rest of the series when it releases.

The only regret I have is not reading this title as soon as I got it. I won't make the same mistake twice.

I received an ARC of this copy from Netgalley for review.

This may not be “great literature” in the academic sense, but it’s an absolute blast of a read—a fun, bubbly blend of urban and portal fantasy wrapped around a sizzling, slow-burn romance! Imagine a mashup of ACOTAR and Night Court with a wild mafia twist, and you’ve got the vibe of this story.

Meet Cate, a spirited nurse who strikes a daring bargain with the irresistibly dangerous and sarcastic fae prince, Lachlan Gage. Initially, these two can’t stand each other, but their fiery banter and undeniable chemistry quickly spark a connection that’s both thrilling and heartwarming. Lachlan is the dreamily flawed, morally gray hero we all crave—a man who’ll risk it all for the one he loves, even if his methods are as edgy as they are captivating. Cate, on the other hand, is refreshingly real: down-to-earth, fiercely loyal, and determined to stand up for what she believes in. Her impulsiveness only adds to her charm, especially when compared to some overly cocky protagonists from other series. Instead of endless self-praise and challenges to supernatural duels, Cate’s got heart and integrity, making her an absolute delight.

The fun doesn’t stop with the main duo! The story is peppered with an endearing cast of side characters: Sienna, Lachlan’s matchmaker sister; Shaw, his sweet younger brother who instantly befriends Cate; and Roark, his ever-vigilant penumbra. These characters add a splash of humor and warmth, perfectly balancing the high-stakes, magical mayhem of their intertwined worlds. And speaking of worlds, the fae courts, with their secret hideouts in cities like New Orleans, add an extra layer of mystery and sparkle to the adventure.

Sure, there are a few unanswered questions—like that mysterious ring and its hidden secrets—but these little puzzles only add to the excitement and leave you buzzing with anticipation for the next installment. The ending might flirt with some classic romantasy tropes, but that cliffhanger is so tantalizing you can’t help but be hooked, eagerly counting down the days until more is revealed!

Overall, this quick contemporary fantasy romance is a total treat—bursting with witty dialogue, irresistible chemistry, and enough twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I’m absolutely smitten and can’t wait to dive into the next book!

Cate Holloway knows to avoid the powerful Gage crime family at all costs. But now, her brother has gotten in trouble with the Gage crime family and she has to confront the dark prince himself to beg for her brother's life. But the only trade he's interested in is her soul. Cat is torn.

Loved this! Compulsively readable. Of course we all love the bad boy and are rooting for them the whole time. I mean, who cares about a soul? LOL

Quick Summary: A dark fae fantasty romance

My Review: Filthy Rich Fae by Geneva Lee is a 2024 sci-fi/fantasy romance.

About the Book: "Cate Holloway knows the unspoken rule of New Orleans: avoid the powerful Gage crime family at all costs. Of course, that was before her brother got caught in their chaos. Now Cate has no choice but to confront the dark and forbidding prince of New Orleans himself and beg for her brother's life."

In My Own Words: In an effort to save the only family she has left, a human woman makes a deal with a seemingly dark and deadly figure. Once the deal is made, her life is no longer her own.

My Final Say: What the what!!! This novel was pretty darn great. It had its own flavor, in comparison to the Filthy Rich Vampires series. I had anticipated an immediate tie in, but what I got was something different...in a good way. I see you, Ms. Lee. Well done! I am hooked. That cliffhanger...yeah, you did that.

Other: Readers who enjoy fae engagements, secrets and lies, dark twists, and nice spice should like this novel. It will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.

“You made a bargain... Your soul for his―and now, you are mine.”

When the Fae world meets the Human one there is always trouble.

Cate Holloway loves her brother very much - so much that she would confront the Fae Prince of New Orleans herself. Lachlan Gage is known to be beautiful but lethal - running the town with his crime ring. When Cate presents herself as a trade for her brother Lachlan is all too happy to accept, but Fae deals come at a cost.

Tricked, and desperate to get back to her life, Cate is determined to find a way out of her bargain. Lachlan is just as determined to keep her, any way he can.

Spicy and full of fun banter - a fun read!

I freaking loved this book! I really liked Cate and thought that she was a great character. Her love and determination to help her brother was awesome. I did cringe a few times over her rash decision making and not thinking things through. I felt that she could have avoided a lot of issues if she had. However that wouldn't have been fun so here we are. I loved the magic system in this and the way that the courts are set up and run. I liked the characters especially Sierra. I liked Lachlan and thought that the banter and tension between him and Cate came across as genuine. I found myself really rooting for them about halfway through the book. I was not expecting this ending and I cannot wait for the next book!

This is a book is interesting characters and a main protagonist who finds themselves in a world that they do not know about. Century and the world building is good. There is a lot of gray and you don’t know who to trust which makes it an interesting book from start to finish.

This was a fun, and easy read! Like Lee's other works I enjoyed it and felt like it was exactly what it set out to do!

I LOVED this book! I stayed up all night reading and couldn't put it down! The way I was obsessed is an understatement!

I could not put this book down! While a couple of the twists were rather predictable, the tension between the FMC and MMC was intense yet bantery from the beginning and only proceeded to build throughout the story.

I liked that the reader has no knowledge of the fae until the FMC is "introduced" to that world. It means the FMC and reader are learning everything at the same time, which helps to involve you more in the story.

I read this book in a day and am already hanging out for the sequel! I highly recommend adding this to your TBR, you definitely won't regret it!

ACOTAR and Lightlark vibes!

Classic human-fae dynamic, "touch her and die" trope (and everything you would expect to come with that), but an unexpected ending. I was not interested in reading the next book in the series until the last two chapters due to feeling like I had experienced the same plot line in other books before.
**Definitely read the trigger warnings before picking this book up, as there is a lot of sensitive content across various subjects.

Addicting! Could not put this one down and can not wait for the next one! I loved everything about this, so much that it put me in a book slump because nothing was as good!

Cate Holloway was a young woman trying to get by in her day to day life, and she knew exactly what to not do, and who to avoid. The name everyone knows in New Orleans is, the Gages, and their influence and power held over everyone was unmatched. No one could go up against the Gages, and yet when Cate’s foster brother gets caught up in the Gage business, she takes it upon herself to settle things straight. In a turns of events, Cate then found herself bound to a bargain to none other than Lachlan Gage, but Gage wasn’t just a notorious criminal, he was actually a FLITHY RICH FAE! Geneva Lee crafted an urban fantasy with dark elements, an almost mafia type feel to the Gage family business, and a young woman willing to go to any length to ensure her freedom from the nefarious yet devilishly handsome fae who held her soul…LITERALLY!

Care Holloway’s life had changed in drastic ways when she came face to face with, Lachlan Gage. I thought it was really gutsy of Cate to go out and seek Lach in order to help her brother from getting into more trouble, but…GIRL! Things could have ended up very differently if Lach hadn’t been the man that he was! Regardless, Lach ended actually being a lot more than Cate could have ever imagined, and while she was surprised, she didn’t really Lach. Cate was a dedicated nurse, and early on in the story it became clear that Cate hadn’t always had the easiest life. Bouncing around from foster homes, and apparently running with the wrong people was Cate’s life when she was younger. Now in the present, Cate wasn’t in the bad crowd, just struggling to make ends meet with her job, and trying to make the most of what she had. With Lach becoming a central part of Cate’s life, he became someone who changed it in ways that didn’t always have to be bad.

This story kept me entertained and with Cate trying to navigate her bargain with Lach, it seemed like Cate was in for new things and an interesting turn with her…relationship with Lach. I feel like the story started to pick up in terms of the plot a lot more towards the end. With the unexpected cliff hanger, and plot twist of certain characters turning on Cate and Lach, it added an unexpected turn in the story. As for the rest of the story, it all just seemed to show how Cate and Lach went from unlikely individuals being forced together through the bargain, to the sexual tension brewing between them, to ultimately falling for each other. The story progressed to a big climax, and I feel like I enjoyed the story more towards the ending. I didn’t feel a connection to either Cate or Lach, but I still liked parts of their story together. Literally this had a, filthy Rich fae, and I was entertained seeing Lach become increasingly protective over Cate as well as him staking his claim on her. With the way this story ended, I might end up reading the next book because, I want answers and want to see what happens next.

Holy cow this book was so good!!! I could not put it down. Rushed home from work every day just to grab my kindle.

There were a couple of scenes that I was wrapped up in everything else disappeared. I still don’t trust Shaw, lol.

Bummed we have to wait until January for the next book, but I know it will be worth the wait!
