This was such a fun book! At first, I didn't love the MMC, but he really grew on me and I really loved how they tackled conflict and their feelings for each other. He was so endearing and adorable. She was delightfully a little bit of a mess in the best way with a contagious joy. I really enjoyed watching their romance blossom and the elements of faith were so beautifully woven into the story. I can't wait to read it again in Christmas!

Get ready for the holiday season early with a fun and quick read.

Culinary School is going to be the newest adventure Whitney Garrett goes after, if she is able to raise the money for her tuition. One problem after another arises and when her oven goes out, she must ask for help from Marie Sloan, the owner of the local Inn if she can use the one in their kitchen. Whitney gets the go ahead with two issues, she must cook breakfast for those at the Inn and watch the Sloan children. With the holiday season coming up quickly, the Inn is busy with guests; one of those guest is Daniel, who quickly catches her eye and she feels they might be just right for each other.

It’s always fun with the holiday novels come out in September to get me in the spirit for the upcoming seasons. Whitney sure had a lot on her plate with wanting to get into culinary school but having so much to deal with before she could even consider it, but she kept her head up and was able to come out in the end with a smile on her face and mine as I read. There were definitely challenges that she faced and that kept me wanting to turn the pages wanting to find out what was going to happen next for her and hope it would be a happy ending. This book was short, sweet and to the point which was great, quick to read and enjoy. There wasn’t a bunch of fluff and stuff that wasn’t necessary. This will be the perfect holiday read for readers getting ready for the holiday season.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

Meddling with Mistletoe
by Liz Johnson
Pub Date: Sept. 3, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Cuddle up for some warm holiday cheer as New York Times bestselling author Liz Johnson explores the unforeseen consequences of meddling with mistletoe when love is on the line.
To pay her tuition for culinary school, Whitney Garrett decides to sell homemade pies at the market. When her stove breaks down, she heads to the Red Door Inn to see if she can use their kitchen. A deal is struck and Whitney finds herself caring for the three Sloan children and taking on a temporary chef position in return for the use of the inn’s kitchen.
I loved Johnson's examination of choosing a career path, the dangers of judging others and ‘settling for’ instead of ‘aiming for’, and the necessity of seeing ourselves through the eyes of another.

This was a pleasurable read, the characters seemed very real.

Meddling with mistletoe is a fun read that has all the elements to be a Christmas movie romcom. I haven’t read the previous books in the red door inn series but I was able to follow this book as it focuses on Whitney and Daniel. The characters are flawed and sometimes messy but they are loveable and I wanted them to succeed as individuals and in love.

You are going to love Whitney right out the gate and only want the best for her. Unfortunately, she's got a little self-doubt that will inevitably get in the way of her happiness or will it? Will the right person chizzle away at that self-doubt and fill her with confidence. Aretha tries the meddle with Daniel's love life by attempting to connect him with Ruby but fate intervenes or perhaps its pie. Regardless, you will love this happy Christmas read by Liz Johnson.

I really enjoyed Meddling with Mistletoe by Liz Johnson, the latest Christmas addition to the much-loved Prince Edward Island Dreams series. 5 stars!

Whitney Garrett is a great starter but not such a great finisher. She's determined however to keep her positive attitude and earn enough money during the holiday season to attend culinary school. She meets her polar opposite in Aretha Franklin's grumpy nephew Daniel, who happens to be staying at the Red Door Inn.

Meddling with Mistletoe is a charming story full of life, laughter and the warm fuzzies. It has a wonderful Christmassy setting with plenty of baked treats, a Christmas play and familiar characters we know and love.

If you love Christmas stories, I recommend putting Meddling with Mistletoe at the top of your list. I appreciate Revell Publishing making a copy available for review. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.

There are just a few weeks before Christmas and a great time to take a trip back to Prince Edward Island and the Red Door Inn. The decorations are going up. Whitney Garrett is saving up for culinary school and helping out at the inn as she needs the use of the inn kitchen to make pies to sell at local markets. In exchange, she is watching Marie and Seth's kids and cooking breakfast for a couple of guests. The guests are there to help Aretha, owner of a local antique store, get said store ready to sell. Her nephew Daniel and Ruby, a company rep for the buyer are the guests. Aretha wants Daniel to be happy and, in her mind, Ruby is the answer. And she wants Whitney to help her make it happen. But sometimes love has a different idea. This is a fun, sweet romance set during the most wonderful time of the year with a Christmas pageant, snow, cold weather, and walking around the town looking at Christmas lights and nativities. Wonderful characters and sweet romance with a touch of faith make this a great holiday read.

This book was just what I needed as I have been in a bit of a slump. The story grabbed my attention from the beginning and I couldn't stop turning the pages. I wanted to be in The Red Door Inn and eating Whitney's fabulous pies. I could see myself scooping up Julia Mae and her inquisitive little mind. Such a fun book!!

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.

This was a short, sweet Christmas read. Very fluffy, very wintry, very cute. The one drawback for me was that it ended up being more religious than I anticipated. I know it’s a Christmas rom com, but I wasn’t expecting that much religion and it threw me off.

Overall, not a substantive book but a nice light read.

3 stars

Whitney has a history of giving up on projects when things get hard, but she's determined that cooking school will be different - if she can just earn enough before Christmas to pay the tuition. So when her oven dies, the only way to bake the pies she plans to sell is to borrow the kitchen at the Red Door Inn. Unfortunately, that puts her in the firing line to help with Aunt Aretha's latest matchmaking plot. Daniel has always struggled with recognising and expressing emotion - a fact which his ex-girlfriend exploited, leaving him devastated. So when his aunt calls him to PEI to help with the sale of her antique shop, he's eager to get it all sorted out quickly so he can retreat to his peaceful, if lonely, home. He never bargained for the woman who's an expected ray of light in his dark life - but can their budding relationship survive Aunt Aretha's matchmaking?

A delightfully heartwarming read, perfect to get you in the mood for Christmas, but also great to read at any other time of the year. I loved watching Daniel get over his self-confessed Grinch-ness (particularly around the kids), but it felt perhaps even more meaningful to see Whitney gradually develop confidence in what she can do rather than what she can't. They're really a delightful couple, and Ruby makes the perfect counterpoint because she, well, isn't. The result is a lighthearted read that still has enough depth to make the story meaningful rather than just fluff. As for the turkey hat - do they actually make such things, or is it merely poetic license?? All in all, a great read, highly recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

"He was going because even Eeyore spent time with his friends."

It's always a pleasure to return to Prince Edward Island, especially to the Red Door Inn. I enjoyed getting to know Daniel and Whitney. Daniel and his straight-laced, grumpy ways were completely opposite to Whitney and her melodious, often flighty ways but they complemented each other well. He believed in Whitney, gave her things to seriously think about, and supported her in her endeavors. She, in turn, brought joy, laughter, and belief in human connection to Daniel's gray world. Their friendship that turned quickly into romance was sweet and tender. I didn't love Aretha's meddling, the misconstrued love triangle, nor the awkwardness of that premise but all of this provided angst and romantic tension to propel the story forward. I did love catching up with the characters from the Prince Edward Island Dreams series and seeing how their families have expanded. I also loved how the author circled back to the true meaning of Christmas with a Christmas pageant at a small church.

It's a fun Christmas story set in Prince Edward Island. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Revell via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

This is a great Christmas read! I love the way Liz Johnson writes and I have loved all her Prince Edward Island books that revolve around the Red Door Inn. What fun to visit there again! I loved rooting for Daniel and Whitney to get their happily ever after even though his aunt was doing her best to pair him with Ruby.
Such a sweet quote!
"the true meaning of Christmas was that they were never meant to be alone. And human love - well, that could be a reflection of God's forgiveness."

Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Meddling with Mistletoe. Whitney and Daniel are likeable characters that I'd enjoy sitting down with and visiting while sipping hot chocolate. Aretha, the matchmaking aunt, is a well-meaning meddler, but causes the conflict in the story. I loved all the Christmassy things in the story: Christmas trees, sledding, gingerbread houses, lights, and, of course, the mistletoe! The children at the Red Door Inn are adorable and exasperating and move the romance along. There's a very satisfying happy ending to this clean Christmas romance.
I received a complimentary copy through NetGalley and am sharing my opinion of this delightful and well-written romance.

I was pulled into the story from the beginning.
I feel like this could be a Hallmark movie it was so delicious and heartwarming.
This book will make you drool that's for sure. It will also make u laugh too.
One misunderstanding was what made this book a cute and fun read.
Whitney was a hit with me. She's the one who had me tickled pink. She's so adorable.
All the characters were really. Even ol Ruby.
To me, she's what really made this story.
The meddling is my favorite part of this book.
I can relate to the obstacles in life that's for sure! I have one now! Geeze!
5 stars for a wonderful laugh that I very much needed. I highly recommend this book.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.

The misunderstanding that leads us into the ending of the book and has us wondering if the two main characters will end up together is something that simple communication—which would only be reasonable at that point in their relationship—would have fixed. Seems completely out of character for them. Also, it didn’t seem like a misunderstanding, more like something that was strange but certainly nothing that should have caused anger or the issue it did in this story. While it was a cute story, the ending really ruined it for me. I haven’t read any of her other books in this series but I enjoyed one of her other series—Prince Edward Island Shores.
