The second in the series and I loved this as much as the first. Definitely looking forward to the third. Irene Hannon Christian suspense books are auto buys for me, as I reread them. I was blessed with a free ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review. The suspense was fast paced and heart pounding. The sweet, clean romance was secondary. High faith content. Both of the main characters have had so much trauma in their lives and this some baggage. I was completely surprised by the villains. I did have my suspicions, but wasn’t positive.

How much can trauma mess with your mind? What is real, and who will believe what can't be proven? Lesley starts to doubt herself, but Jack doesn't give up.
As typical for Irene Hannon this novel is more love story than thriller, but there's still enough suspense to keep you guessing.

Lindsey Barnes is our featured character and you’ll really like her, but it seems all the odds are stacked against this poor girl. She is a personal chef, trying to make it in a competitive world. The story begins as Lindsey lets herself in to the very elegant kitchen of one of her customers. She is there to retrieve her expensive and essential knife roll she left there the night before. Lindsey has permission to let herself in only with her picky client, Heidi’s very specific and strict conditions, so she knows the disarm code. This time as she enters, the alarm is not set. That’s weird. Here Lindsey’s mounting troubles begin with a terrifying discovery, in the kitchen.

Lindsey’s past has afforded her more than her fair share of trauma and she is struggling to move forward with the help of her counsellor, Oliver. But instead, her life becomes increasingly more difficult as she discovers she’s trapped in the crosshairs of a ruthless killer of a high profile victim. She is the sole witness, making her a deadly target.

St. Louis County Detective Jack Tucker, is with the County Crimes Against Persons Bureau. He investigating the murder working to uncover the real killer. At this point the prime suspect is Lindsey! In the meantime, strange , to sand unexplained events occur all centered around Lindsey. She, herself and others begin to question if what she’s reporting is the truth or a figment of her imagination. Even this reader wondered if the girl was losing it. Still I pulled for her throughout the book.

You will like the character of Jack as well. He has his own issues and also has a traumatic backstory which make him sensitive to Lindsey’s mental health. Nevertheless, must remain neutral despite his heart telling him to give in. Enter the romantic side of the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book of forgiveness, trust and recognizing the power of love all based on reliance on God and prayers.

There were breath holding times as well as a few dry spells in the novel. I highly recommend Over the Edge.
I’m an avid reader of suspense and love when an author is able to write unique situations that come as big surprises.

I like that Over the Edge, kept me in suspense throughout. My attention was glued so it was hard to find spots to take a break from reading.

Another great suspense from Hannon. I love that Lindsey was a personal chef! This made for a unique perspective. Just a really great series by Hannon. I just wish the books came out a little closer to each other. It feels like a long wait between novels & I start to forget the story...

Irene Hannon once again delivers a solid storyline that draws the reader in quickly. I will always read anything Hannon writes.

Over the Edge wasn’t a bad read, but it also wasn’t the best. I easily predicted who the killer was the first time they appeared in the book and thought ending dragged out to a predictable finish. The romance between the characters was a bit forced but sweet. Not my favorite suspense read, but interesting!

Over the Edge, by Irene Hannon, will grab your attention from page one.  Lindsey Barnes, who works as a private chef, gets caught up in a traumatic situation in the midst of her work day.  She finds the body of her boss on the floor of the kitchen and unfortunately she hears the sound of someone in the bathroom.  Is it possible the murderer is still in the house? Lindsey is able to hide until this individual exists the house; however, now the police may consider her a witness to this crime!

Police detective, Jack Turner, is brought in to help solve this case. Things seem to crawl to a dead end, but Lindsey recalls enough details to breathe some life back into finding a solution. As she keeps having experiences that no one can find evidence of, some begin doubting Lindsey’s sanity!

It is interesting to watch Jackson and Lindsey work together to finally discover who is behind all of the mayhem!

Author Irene Hannon is one of those very gifted authors that pulls her readers into the story quickly and holds their attention until the very end. Over the Edge has great characters that are dealing with things that happened to them in the past and have made good lives for themselves in spite of those things. Lindsey and Jack are likeable and well-developed main characters. There is a great HEA and proposal scene. The plot has twists and turns that kept my interest level extremely high. I was shocked by who the villains were. I find Hannon's writing style easy to read without it being plain. The dialogue feels very natural. I would not hesitate to recommend this book to family and friends and would definitely read more by this author.

Over the Edge is an appropriate title for this suspenseful, action filled mystery. Lindsey Barnes has had a lot of trauma in the last year and a half and is starting over with a move from South Carolina to St. Louis with her personal chef business. While at a client's home for a quick trip in to retrieve her knife roll, she discovered the owner's body. But the killer was still there, and she had to hide. She managed to go unobserved and lived to tell law enforcement. But somehow the killer learns her identity. Detective Jack Tucker and his team have very little to go on. And someone is trying to make Lindsey appear to be an unreliable witness, pulling pranks to make her look unstable. Evidently, Jack believes Lindsey but will be able to keep her safe? This is one hard to put down with nail-biting scenes, action, surprises, twists, and a great mystery to unravel. And a lovely romance with characters with faith to support them in their distress. Irene Hannon has written another great romantic suspense sure to entertain.

Over the Edge by Irene Hannon is the Undaunted Courage Series second book. Trauma survivor Lindsey Barnes is back into another tragic misfortune that has her questioning her own sanity. Police detective Jack Tucker is on the case, wanting to help but unsure what is exactly happening at first. Their story and the situation is cleverly told, intelligent and beautifully written.

The suspense had me turning the pages, being filled with brilliant twisty turns. However, it the presence, grace and protection of God that had my heart soaring even as the enemy tries his best to destroy Lindsay. Over the Edge is an all-around great addition to the series. All romantic suspense fans will enjoy this Christian fiction story.

New-to-me author, Irene Hannon, has crafted a new series, Undaunted Courage, focusing on three foster siblings from difficult backgrounds who were all adopted by the same couple. Each book can be read as a standalone and features one of the three siblings.

The female protagonist in book two is personal chef, Lindsey Barnes. She’s faced more than her fair share of trauma and is trying to move forward with the help of counselling. Her life becomes increasingly more difficult as she discovers she’s trapped in the crosshairs of a ruthless killer when she’s the sole witness to a high-profile murder. With experiencing trauma heaped on top of trauma in such a short time, Lindsey and those trying to help her, begin to question if what she’s reporting is the truth or a figment of her imagination. I'll admit to wondering if her memory was reliable. Is her mind playing tricks? Or is it the killer’s game plan?

I loved St. Louis County Detective Jack Tucker with the County Crimes Against Persons Bureau. He’s got his own issues and traumatic backstory which make him sensitive to Lindsey’s mental health. He holds her at an arm’s reach, despite his heart telling him to give in, until he finally realizes that she’s telling the truth about her experiences. I was rooting for these two to come to terms with their past so that they could move forward together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story about forgiveness, trust and making room for the power of love.

I'm excited for book 3, to be published in October 2025 featuring Cara, a historical anthropologist. This book will wrap up this series.

With her usual suspense driving style, this novel keeps you on the edge of your seat. Interesting nuances throughout the story about whether Lindsay is telling the truth with all the weird happenings around and to her. The detective also isn't sure what to believe, so their relationship is tenuous at first, but she learns to trust him as he works to figure out what's truly going on.

While it’s customary in reviews to start with the main characters, Irene Hannon stands out as one of the few authors who genuinely gives secondary characters their own voice. My heart went out to Dara and her husband when she created a solid front by taking his hand during the whodonit investigation. Prior to this small act, she appeared uncertain about her choice of spouse. I was concerned for her due to his history. I won’t delve into the details of the suspects in this exciting thriller, but there was one person I really didn’t want to be the culprit.

I found Over the Edge to be a fantastic story, and the way Jack’s fear of heights came back to haunt him in the final moments was unexpected. I found it fascinating how he and Lindsey reversed their roles with his Achilles’ heel. Gimme more in the Undaunted Courage series.

Lindsey has a lot going for her and is trying to stay one step ahead of the trauma she experienced years ago until the day she thought she was losing her mind and found herself in the middle of another crisis. Not only is she the sole witness in a high-profile murder case, but her sanity is in question. She began to doubt herself when she considered that maybe she had imagined all the very bizarre, scary, and dangerous things that had happened. When that didn't work, the next step was to eliminate her.

After so many strange occurrences, the detective assigned to the case, Jack Tucker, began to question the validity of her stories. And, of course, Jack and Lindsey started to develop feelings for each other. Overall, it's a decent, well-written read - mystery suspense with a touch of romance... Perhaps a bit too long, with some repetitive dialogue that can drag on.

Irene Hannon masterfully pulls in her audience to this who-done-it saga featuring Lindsey Barnes and Jack Tucker. Throughout the pages of this psychological thriller Hannon's main character even begins to question her own sanity. And who can blame her with all that she's survived, witnessed, and experienced in life? When the nice Detective Tucker arrives the audience can only speculate and strap in to discover what will happen next.
I enjoyed this story with the character interactions between Jack and his siblings and his pursuit to uncover the truth in his icy case. It was fun to discover whether I was on track with my suspicions as the story unfolded. I appreciate the author's tone. While I could recognize her talent in the pages, I'm thankful that her stories to not tend to repeat her cadence in such a way that I've come to expect/anticipate what she will say. She does a good job of keeping me engaged.

An engaging book that had me captured as I followed the plot with such different twists and turns. The characters were full and very real to life, sadly true of many people I know ... Good and bad.

This is another fast-paced, gripping read from Irene Hannon!

Apparently I did, in fact, read book 1 in the series (though I'll admit I had little to no recollection of it, haha). So the good news is that it could more or less be read out of order; a couple references to Bri's story, such that you know there is a story already told there, but it didn't provide any "spoilers," per se.

I really enjoyed getting to know the two MCs here, and obviously enjoyed the story as I read it in only 3 days! LOL!

I'm already ready for book 3 to come out. I'm duly impressed at Hannon's talents both as a storyteller and as a writer across multiple genres. Her Hope Harbor series is one of my favorites, and this is a solid as well! (Just not one I'd suggest reading at night ... ask me how I know.) :D
