Following a sheriff in Kansas, a college student in Italy and a mobster in Philadelphia and how they’re all connected to the disappearance of teenage girl 5 years prior. There’s a twist half way that got me GOOD and I really enjoyed that first part. The mob storyline ended up being sooo corny though and took everything over the top. Fun, fast but likely forgettable.

Finlay is back, and better than ever! This book hooked me immediately from the prologue, and never let me go! I loved seeing how these vastly different lives and stories came together in an explosive finale. While I did guess one part of the story, it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the book, and makes the top of my favorite Finlay story so far. I alternated between the audio and ebook, and both narration and physical reading were phenomenal and I blew through it in less than 24 hours.
Thank you NetGalley, Macmillan audio, and St. Martins Press for my ARC and ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I loved how fast paced this book was, Alex Finlay grabbed your attention right away.
This book kept my interest the whole way and was a quick read.
'If Something Happens to Me' is a thriller, with a bit of mystery and suspense. This book has a few twists and keeps your curiosity flowing. If you're looking for a quick read, interesting plot line, I would recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book! I liked the writing and the story had me wanting to read more and more! I will definitely be reading more from this author!

I enjoyed this fast paced story. At a certain point I began wondering how all the characters would be connected and was impressed with the way the author pulled it all together. Once I knew what was going on, I couldn’t figure out how the story could conclude with both a realistic and satisfying ending, but he managed both. I’m looking forward to reading more of his books!

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan audio for an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review. This book officially publishes on 5/28/24!
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! This book is written in “popcorn” format, and I believe that if I was reading it this would be a book where I wanted to read “just one more chapter”. As I read this via audiobook, however, I do believe the narrators were engaging and had good pace. The story itself had several twists and turns, with the biggest twist leaving me with my mouth agape when I heard it. This is my first book by this author and now I definitely will be checking out more of their work! I definitely recommend giving this one a read or listen!

“”But the note, “I know who you are” drags him to the past, to the girl who hated the limelight but always glowed in it.””
In small town Kansas, high school sweethearts Ryan and Ali are involved in an abduction. Ali disappears and Ryan is the prime suspect. Evidence surfaces exonerating Ryan, but his life is forever changed; he leaves town, changes his name and lives with regret and questions.
Miles away, we are introduced to a mob organization in Philadelphia, where the stakes are high and honor walks side by side with vengeance. These two separate stories intersect in a complicated maze as some of the players travel overseas, creating a thriller chock full of both character studies and atmospheric scenes.
There are twists and turns galore and I read this in one sitting, not wanting to miss a single connection. Alex Finlay delivers a high octane twisty plot, complete with compelling characters, which will surely be a hit with the mystery loving crowd this summer.
The intricate, well-paced story was brought to life by excellent narration performances of Helen Laser, John Pirhalla and Paul Dateh. Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advance audio copy in exchange for my honest option.

Absolutely enjoyed this from beginning to end. It wasn't my usual genre of listening but I am so glad I gave it a chance. I was on the edge of my seat listening to this. Between the bouncing back and forth between locations, characters, time line my head was spinning trying to put together how it was all connected in the beginning. Never guess It was going to end up going in the direction it did. I loved the writing, the story telling and the narrators were fantastic to listen to. I'm excited for others to experience this book and audio.

*Narrator was fantastic and easy to listen to.
Let's start with what I DID like:
- Very short chapters
- Very quick read
What I DIDN'T like:
- This was so wildly unbelievable
- Plot holes for days
- You knew the whole situation by the halfway point
- Last half became tedious
However - I will say that if you like some quick, easy, mob-type books, you'll probably like this. Let's be honest, I hate read often. Lol so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Confession: I could not even finish the last Alex Finlay book I started. But I could not resist this juicy plot and it drew me in from the beginning. So thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my ALC of If Something Happens to Me in exchange for my honest review!
A small town, fast-paced and action-packed thriller from beginning to end. While not all of the twists were shocking, I was still completely invested in the story. The prologue really did it for me, whereas I could’ve done without the epilogue. Alternating between a triple pov and timeline jumps, the reader is taken from coast-to-coast here in the US and along for the Euro-Trip Ryan Richardson definitely did not have on his bingo card.
MY SYNOPSIS: For the past five years, Ryan Richardson has been reliving the events of that terrible night. What he recalls: the car door ripping open, a blow to the head, the pinky-less hands seizing him from the vehicle, and Ali, Ryan’s girlfriend, is nowhere to be found. With no trace of Ali or her car, Ryan is clouded in suspicion, but never charged with any wrongdoing. Now, on a summer trip to Italy with his law-school classmates, Ryan receives a devastating phone call from his father: Ali’s car has been found, submerged in a lake; inside two dead men and a chilling note. On the envelope, in Ali’s handwriting are the words: “If something happens to me…” Then the unthinkable happens; Ryan, now halfway around the world, spots the man that has been haunting his every waking moment from that night.
MY REVIEW: I really loved this audiobook. I was instantly drawn to all three storylines and was excited to see how they all wove together. The three narrators did an outstanding job representing each main character and the story they had to tell.
The story is told in three parts, and at first I was having some trouble connecting the dots, but that ironed itself out. Our leading man, Ryan, is in scenic Italy on a law-school trip trying to move on with his life and escape the his past. Poppy McGee, a young deputy sheriff, is in Kansas where the events of that fitful night occurred. Then we meet our mob boss, Shane O’Leary, in Philadelphia, along with his minions (who at times will take over that pov, which threw me off).
I honestly enjoyed Poppy’s story the best; I feel like it was the most difficult to predict and she unearthed a lot of information that was not on my radar. She was an engaging character with a lot of promise and a total sleuth. Ryan exhibited a lot of personal growth; after enduring what he did throughout the book, I was content to learn he did truly move on and embrace what happened to him rather than shy away and cower. I was a bit disturbed, and at the same time heartbroken, by Shane O’Leary’s story; it was devastating in more ways than one.
There is of course more to say about the plot, but I feel anything more would be a spoiler. In short, The Ripple Effect is at play throughout this entire book and there are a lot of compelling characters you meet along the way.
I give this book a 4/5 stars! I was a bit lost near the end when Shane O’Leary’s storyline took on the voice of somebody other than himself, but the mob angle was something different and fun! If you love fast-paced, heart racing, suspense thrillers, this book will do it for ya!

Read this if you like:
•multiple POVs
•whodunit

The audio was SO well done, thank you Macmillan audio. The incredibly short chapters kept you going because right when you wanted to know what happens next, the chapter would end and it would be a different POV

Loved it! Was totally sucked in from the beginning. Took a while to figure out how some of the stories came together. There is definitely what I would call an action-movie segment if you like that sort of thing. Three great audio narrators. This was my first Alex Finlay book, and I'm looking forward to more.

If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars)
As a newcomer to Alex Finlay's writing, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the journey this book took me on. It's not your run-of-the-mill thriller, and that's precisely what made it so captivating for me. I ended up giving it a solid 4 out of 5 stars because it kept me on my toes throughout.
Let's talk about those twists, though. When we finally uncover the true identities of Taylor and Michael, my jaw practically hit the floor. I did NOT see that coming! Finlay really knows how to keep readers guessing, and that's what I loved most about this book.
Now, onto a tiny hiccup I had. The sheer number of characters sometimes made it a tad challenging to keep track of who's who and what they were up to. But hey, a little confusion adds to the mystery, right?
Despite that, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for Finlay's future works. If this book is anything to go by, I'm in for more thrilling surprises!
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I really enjoyed the three narrators of this book! It really helped bring the story to life and I was always able to tell which character was speaking. Alex Finlay is always a must read for me and this new book didn’t disappoint! The story is so multifaceted, with multiple characters points of view, it took me a few chapters to get all the stories straight. I loved that I never knew where it was headed and the twists towards the end made my head spin! I would highly recommend if you like psychological thrillers!

I had a field trip with my daughter’s kindergarten class to a nearby farm, and couldn’t ride the bus with the class. So this book nerd momma was very excited to listen to the audio book of If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay. And then I stayed up folding mounds of laundry to finish it. It. Was. So. Good. If you like suspense, add this to your TBR for May 27th. E News says “one of the most anticipated thrillers”. Highly agree.
Five years. That’s how long it’s been since the worst night of Ryans life. He’s tried t move on, and recreate himself, but the past keeps crawling back up. He still hears his girlfriend, Ali’s, scream after the car door opened, hands yanking him, a pinky finger missing, and blow to the head were he passed out and Ali was gone when he woke up. It looks bad on him, but there is no trace of Ali or the car. He gets a good lawyer and is free. But he wants to know what happened, who did it, and what did they do to Ali. He changed his name, entered law school….and then his dad calls. The car has been found. Ryan is in Italy at the moment, but the car had two men inside of it. He cant think straight and just becomes more curious as to what happened. Then, in Italy, he sees someone with no pinky, and he loses it. Who were the two men in the car? Was the car in the lake all these years? But where is Ali? This one kept me folding and getting all my laundry put away…it was a good one! Thank you @netgalley @alexfinlayauthor for this advance copy. #alexfinlay #ifsomethinghappenstome

Thank you Netgalley for this audio edition of If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay.
I did not see this full circle coming! It starts simply enough, a teen girl is ripped from the car of her boyfriend, never seen again, presumed dead. But the rabbit hole goes deep with this one, and you got to stay on the ride to figure out whodunnit.
Sometimes a little slow, but always captivating, this was a fun thriller with all sorts of twists and turns.

4 ⭐️ for If something Happens to me by Alex Finlay
Ryan Richardson cant stop thinking about the night his girlfriend Ally was taken. He has moved to another country and even changed his name to get away from it but when he gets a note saying I know who you are his world turns upside down.
This novel keeps you hooked from the beginning with different POV's thought the novel and timelines, the twist and turns keep you wondering who has taken Ally and how is Ryan involved.

Thank you @macmillan.audio for my complimentary copy. My thoughts are my own.
A missing girl, a submerged car, a father out for vengeance, and a father who will do anything to save his child - this one kept me fully engaged and turning the pages. I found it to be fast-paced with some surprising twists! I really enjoyed this one. Alex Finlay is definitely an auto-buy author for me!
I enjoyed both the audio version. The audio is well-done with 3 narrators.
Read this if you enjoy:
*multiple perspectives
*alternating timeline
*intense drama
*unexpected twists

Alex Finlay is so good!! This one I felt was a little more on the violent side than normal, but maybe that was just me. I really would have enjoyed more backstory on some of the characters to paint the larger picture, but even still they were still developed well. It was very uniquely written with the different POVs and locations. 3 different narrators for the POVs was the icing on the cake!! I enjoyed that and thought it brought a lot to the story. This one was hard to put down when you only had small amounts of time in the day to read.
A special thank you to NetGalley, Alex Finlay, and Macmillan Audio for this ALC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Welp, once again Alex Finlay has created a masterpiece. I think this one may be my new favorite of his. I flew through this one in a single night and this has been sitting with me ever since. I love when an author weaves such intricate stories, it just makes for that much more fun of a read. I really loved this book.

If Something Happens To Me is told in multiple POVs. The characters were all well developed, and dare I say, I actually liked all of the characters?! Even the ones with the not-so-great intentions!? I loved how Finlay tied the present into the missing persons case from 5 years prior and I absolutely loved every single second of the cryptic message that was found. I literally through on my little detective sleuth hat so quick to try to figure this one out and man did I not see any of what unfolded coming. Every single detail was thought through to perfection. Finlay did a phenomenal job of piecing everything together. This is a fast paced read and you will not be able to put this one down once you start it.

I was able to listen to this one while reading along via the ebook. The narrators: Helen Laser, John Pirhalla and Paul Dateh absolutely knocked this one out of the park. They were fantastic, they complimented one another, and they were able to really drive home that suspenseful listen that I am always looking for. Highly recommend the audiobook!
