So if you’re looking for a good romantasy series to get you into reading and have a good romance and good plot I would definitely recommend this series. As this is the second book in the series, I found it enjoyable as this book picked up right after the first one which made for an easy transition. The plot was enjoyable and the characters were also enjoyable, my only problem is that it just was not for me. I’ve been reading too many romantasy books lately and unfortunately most of the newly published books from recent years have extremely similar plots and annoying tropes that at this point are VERY overdone. For example, the shadow daddy trope is very overdone these days since it’s trendy and I’m just personally becoming annoyed with the trope, BUT if you are specifically looking for that trope and the enemies to lovers, fated mates, etc. then this book/series will be right up your alley.
This was really good. I wish we got more flashbacks of the two main characters because they were a delight to read and made me want to read a whole prequel book of them falling in love the first time. It was a tad longer than necessary and sometimes tracking the dialogue was hard. The romance was excellent and the plot is interesting and amplifies the series in a great way. I had fun reading this book like the first.
While this series is not "unique" in the Romantasy-Craze the book world is currently in, The Night Defying certainly is enjoyable! The writing style and plot pacing was a lot more enjoyable for me in this book compared to the first in the series and I felt that it answered a lot of the gaps we needed filled!
Full Review to come.
I ate this book up and it left no crumbs!
I love that this book picked up right where we left off in book 1, obviously there's a lot that needs to be covered in this book, and there was some jumping around that confused me, but overall it was still just as good of a read as the first one! Nyte still reigns as my favourite character in this new book series of Chloe's & I honestly can't wait to read more from Chloe!
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!
4.5 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book had me all over the place in the best way … if you love Romantasy books you must read this series!!! Astrea and Nyte’s story is so beautifully intense. The story jumps from past to present as Astrea tries to regain her memories. I fell in love with Nyte and enjoyed watching him and Astrea grow and develop in this book. I loved the different points of view from both Astrea and Nyte. The spice was just spicy enough to keep the plot moving . The ending had my heart and mind all in pieces and I cannot wait to read the third book in this amazing series …there was magic, love, adventure, dragons, betrayal, and vengeance…. Bring on the next one !!!
Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to Arc read this amazing book for an honest review
I’m so excited for Chloe and this getting picked up and being all over stores everywhere. This book is incredible and so glad it is getting the recognition it deserves. It’s one that will keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the page and engaged with every page turn and every chapter.
The second book in this trilogy fulfilled my expectations. Despite the slower plot in the first half of the book, I enjoyed getting to see more of Nyte and Astrea's relationship. I thought the intimate scenes, while explicit, were well done and spaced out enough not to overtake the plot. The last half of the book was much more exciting, though Nyte getting blasted out the sky by lightning seemed like a forced plot device until it was explained later. I think the author did an excellent job of setting the stage for the betrayal without making it too obvious. I also enjoyed the dual POVs, and hope to see more of Eltanin in book 3.
Loved the first book but loved this one even more as I felt we really got to know the world and characters by now and I could focus more on the plot and romance in this one! I read it in one day couldn’t put it down! Loved it and will be recommending to everyone!
I am smitten with this series! The book is the perfect continuation of the first. Astraea and Nyte are everything you could want from an enemies to lovers, fated mates trope.
In this second installment, many loose ends were wrapped up! Most of my questions and confusions from the first came alive, leading to more questions!
From a busy reader to the next - if it has been awhile between reads, do a reread of The Stars are Dying! It has been about a year since I read it and certain pieces did not click right away. After reading more, I was able to jump right back into the world!
The Night Is Defying is the second book in the Nytefall Trilogy. This book is a perfect continuation of the first. It answered a lot of the questions that were left open at the end of the first book. Both books are very action packed with a good amount of steamy romance. It does a good job of leaving you wanting more. I love a good star crossed lovers storyline and I thought it was written very well. Im excited to see where the series goes next, and I recommend it to any reader who enjoys fantasy romance.
I think the first book had a lot of potentially that I was hoping the second book would live up too. I loved the continued expansion of the world with the world building, having some questions answered while also having more questions pop up. I enjoyed our FMC Astrea’s character growth with her rediscovering her memories, and of course the relationship between her and Nyte.
The Night Is Defying by Chloe C. Peñaranda is a captivating blend of romance, mystery, and supernatural intrigue. Following Astraea, the newly awakened star-maiden, this sequel to Nytefall delves into her quest to recover lost memories and uncover the truth behind her past. Her journey is filled with betrayal, danger, and the looming threat of powerful enemies, including Nyte’s own brother.
Astraea’s fierce determination and the intense, morally complex relationship between her and Nyte drive the story forward. Nyte, a flawed antihero, and Astraea share undeniable chemistry, with their bond tested by personal and external conflicts. The tension between vampires and the high stakes of the plot make for a thrilling read, while Peñaranda’s world-building adds depth to the dark, atmospheric setting.
With its high tension, intricate characters, and moral dilemmas, The Night Is Defying is a must-read for fans of dark fantasy and complex relationships. Peñaranda continues to craft a compelling, fast-paced series that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Highly recommended!
This author has been on my to buy list for a year, so I was so happy when I got to read this beauty. The world is beyond well defined, it has a sense of spirit and feeling to it. I love the depth provided to the character and how you can feel them come alive off the page. I honestly can't wait for more books by this author. The book just honestly felt so alive to me and I love every moment. It had me on the edge of my seat with anticipation and I need a copy of every book this author writes.. LOVE IT! MUST BUY! MUST READ ASAP!
The Night Is Defying is the second book in the Nytefall Trilogy. Astraea has gained her freedom and wants to keep it that way. Astraea has found out she is the star maiden and that she has magik powers if only she can remember how to use them. Nyte is slowly sharing some of their memories with Astraea and working with her so that she can use her powers to help save the people from the vampire uprising. Astraea is also been secertly visiting the celestral kingdom to see if spending time there will spark her memories. Nyte and Astraea must try to defy the past and try to make sure that somehow they can break the curse that has followed them throughout the centuries. This was such a good book that after listening to The Stars Are Dying I had to jump into The Night Is Defying right away. Both books are is action packed, steamy romance, secrets and lies. that leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to read the next installment in the series and see how this story ends. I would like to thank both NetGalley and Bramble Books for letting me read an advanced copy of this book.
Mir hat das Buch gefallen auch wenn ich einige Scenen zu langatmig fand. Danke für das Reziexemplar!
This is the second book in the Nytefall trilogy and like the first book in this series The Night is Defying is an amazing book.
Vicious Nightmares Need Peaceful Dreams.
Shaken from the aftermath of the Libertatem, the newly found star-maiden Astraea is determined to keep her freedom, even at the cost of betraying her heart. But time is running out to recover her memories, and with it the hope to unveil her killer.
Embarking on a journey to discover her past, Astraea's awakening power spins the hourglass on a history threatening to repeat itself. While Nyte tries to regain control of the vampires hungry for bloodshed, a sinister plan by his brother to overthrow him sparks a dangerous feud. But are they willing to wear the blood of their kin to see it through?
For nothing in the past ever stays buried. Friends have turned into foes, brothers have turned into enemies, and what was written in the stars long ago ignites again in two hearts that were never meant to be. Letting Astraea go would save the world from darkness, but Nyte is no hero. It seems no monster is heartless, and no angel is without sin.
Peñaranda masterfully weaves together romance, betrayal, and high-stakes action, creating a world so vivid you can’t help but get lost in it. The emotional pull between Astraea and Nyte is devastating yet beautiful, making you question what is worth fighting for. This book is packed with everything I love: a tortured hero, a fierce heroine, epic stakes, and a love that might just destroy everything they hold dear. I’ll definitely be recommending this series.
A really nice fun start to what is looking to be a great series! I am really looking forward to the next book :)
I really enjoyed this one. It was a great follow up to the last that answered a bunch of questions and I’m so excited for the next one, I can’t even fathom how I’m going to be patient about it lol
This was a good follow up to the first book. So much world building , answers, more questions and lots of romance in this one. I really liked having Nyte’s pov it made me love him even more tbh. There was some repetition of info and things that had already happened but i liked that we got more about celestials and vampires and the politics surrounding it. The romance in this was better than the first book, not too much smut but so much tension, communication and soulmatism. Like in the first book i loved the thematic writing and allusions to stars and nights. Excited for the next book if you like romantasy’s you need to read this series. Thanks to Bramble for this arc!
