If you are a fan of a Dog's Purpose, you will love this book. It has all of the elements that make this author's books about dogs so good. It evokes so much emotion and it gives such a deep dive into the dog psyche of the characters that you would think that the author was once a dog in a previous life.
As a huge dog lover, some scenes with the dogs are hard to handle. You will feel the emotions both good and bad with the dogs and the people that make up their true family. These are tales that can happen to any dog in the rescue world and sometimes they are hard to hear but they are all very possible and have happened to many dogs that have been through the toughest of times.
However, this is also a beautiful story about things that happen in life that both human and dog go through and with pure determination and indomitable spirit, they come out the other side stronger and find their happy ending. It is inspirational and though you walk some dark winding roads through the story, you come to the end happy with a sense that in the real world you really can make it to the other side. Dogs in rescue go through a lot in many instances but the reality is so many get their happy ending as well. This is one of those times.
I think as a dog owner you also learn a lot about your dog and the hierarchy of the pack from the dog's point of view. There is so much to gain from seeing the world through your dog's eyes and in this story, you get exactly that.
Cameron has a way of capturing what dogs may truly be feeling and conveying those thoughts and feelings in such a beautiful way to the reader. Both joyful and sorrowful, as a reader you truly feel the emotions.
Brought together under one roof, Riggs, Archie and Luna find themselves split after a tragedy. As a reader you follow the journey of them trying to reunite with one another.
A book told mainly in the dogs’ POV? *immediate yes*
From the author of A Dogs Purpose (I’ve only seen the movie so far and WHEW make sure you have tissues).
This book is alllllll about the pack life and how impactful a family is, especially to your pets. I loved the insight into what a dog thinks about human behavior and how the author captured different dog breeds personalities.
I absolutely loved this one and highly recommend you put it on your TBR if you have a soft spot for dogs.
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Tor Publishing, and Forge Books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
When Liam is in an auto accident and hospitalized, his chances of recovery are slim and his brother, Brad, needs to decide about what to do with the dogs. Brad isn’t able to keep them himself.
The dogs end up at a shelter and are adopted separately. None end up in a happy situation. Riggs runs away and makes it his quest to reunite his pack and get them back home. But how is he going to do that when all three dogs went to separate families?
A heartbreaking, yet heartwarming, story about the quest of Riggs, Luna, and Archie, on their mission to return home, the families and friends they meet along the way, the struggles they encounter individually, their loyalty to each other and to their humans. You might want to have some tissues nearby.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My Three Dogs
Rarely have I read a book that tugs at the heart strings as this latest from W. Bruce Cameron does. I instantly fell in love with Riggs, Luna and Archie and their unique path to becoming a pack. In true Cameron fashion the dogs are the main characters and the people fill in the background. I particularly liked the bond between Brad and Liam, two brothers with only each other in life, and how they navigate being their for each other but also living their own life and finding their own path.
Time spent reading My Three Dogs will be time well spent!
I received a copy through NetGalley to read and review. All opinions stated above are my own and freely given.
My Three Dogs by W. Bruce Cameron
Summary: My Three Dogs is a charming and heartfelt new novel from the #1 bestselling author of A Dog's Purpose, about humankind's best, most loyal friends, and a wonderful adventure of love and finding home.
When a tragic accident separates three dogs from their human, they find themselves up for adoption -- separately. But Riggs, a dedicated, loyal Australian Shepherd, refuses to see his family torn apart. After the exuberant and fun-loving doodle Archie and quick-witted Jack Russell Luna are taken to new homes, Riggs' powerful herding instincts send him on a journey to bring his pack back together again.
Review: 5-Star
I don’t know how I missed the line from #1 bestselling author of A Dog’s Purpose. But it was the rest of the Summary that got me to request reading this book. I didn’t know it was such a wonderful writer until I read the Acknowledgments, so this whole journey took me by surprise. I’ve seen the movie A Dog’s Purpose and just love it. Now I want to read the book as books are always better than movies. The story flows line is flawless as is the editing. Love how each character is developed and how the author captured all the emotions. I don’t give 5- star rating all that much. Everything has to be inline for me to do so along with the book being a page turner one you can’t put down for any reason and that is what this book is. From the first page to the last you can’t stop reading fear of missing something. The story paints a picture so well you can see it in your mind as you’re reading. I now can’t wait to buy other books by this Author so I can read.
Conclusion:
Would I recommend this book to others YES
Would I read other books written by this Author YES

My three dogs is a heart wrenching story. Riggs, Luna, and Archie's lives are about to change and they won't even know why.
I had read the A Dog's Purpose series, so I figured I knew I what I was in for reading this book. I still felt a lot of emotions for the dogs. We as humans have little knowledge about what dogs really think and feel. This story will definitely pull at your heart strings. And it's not just the dogs you end up feeling bad.
Wonderful book!
Dog owners everywhere should be given a copy of this when adopting their dogs! I loved the hierarchy that the 3 dogs fell into easily, Riggs being the older, wiser gentleman, Luna, the female who just wanted to please her favorite human Sabrina, and Archie, the young, boisterous puppy who needed guidance. They all accepted their roles in the household.
When their beloved human Liam doesn't come home, the dogs have to figure things out for themselves until help comes along. But that help results in them being separated, and the remainder of the book is focused on their time apart, and Riggs' dedication to reuniting the pack. Very sad at times, but also heartwarming.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.
Quite the story! Love how the humans are second fiddle to the dogs , They know humans are important but Dogs can survive If have to alone. Dogs don;t lie! they remain attached to their people! Forever
My three Dogs by W. Bruce Cameron is a charming story told from the perspective of a Jack Russell Terrier, a Labradoodle and an Australian Shepherd. If you love dogs, you’re probably hooked with just that short synopsis!
This is a tale of dogs separated from their own and then from each and how they eventually find their way back to one another. The author has an uncanny ability to humanize each of the breed’s traits. There is Riggs the Australian Shepherd, has a sense that the world needs order and that to be ordered his pack needs to be together. Then there is Luna, a Jack Russell, who has high-energy, intelligence and strategic planning; she is goofy, silly, always willing to go along Archie, the Labradoodle who is desperate for human love.
The story dives into pack dynamics as well as human dynamics. In every word of this novel, the author’s love of dogs is abundantly clear. I was both entertained and moved by the story, as I’m sure any dog lover will be.
I loved this book. Every single second of it. I pretty much assumed I would, but it was even better and more than I’d anticipated. Liam is living his life with the love of his life, his amazing pups and truly enjoys his work of flipping/building homes. Life is pretty darn good all things considered! When an accident happens everything changes in an instant. Liams brother Brad comes to help him out and while he handles some things properly, other things go from bad to worse. His beloved dogs are through gone through a series of desperation, some lies, and some truly bad circumstances. We join the dogs on their journey to finding each other and eventually their way home so everyone can find their happily ever after. There are a lot of emotional highs and lows that very well may require some tissues. An absolutely wonderful book even if you’re not a dog person, but this may just have you heading to your local rescue to bring your own amazing fur pal home.
If you have ever owned a dog or dogs this book is for you. If you just like dogs, this book is for you. Aside from making you really like and understand the "the 3 dogs", you also get to know Liam and Sabrina and Brad. This was an enjoyable read. Thank you Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have great memories of watching animal movies with my children while they were growing up. I absolutely loved W. Bruce Cameron's book A Dog's Purpose. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to receive this digital ARC from NetGalley and Forge Books. Unfortunately, this book fell flat for me. I think it had to do with the people rather than the dogs. Liam's redeeming quality was that he loved his dogs and took great care of them. His relationship with Sabrina was nothing to write home about. They lived together but didn't communicate well. Liam made unilateral decisions about their life and expected Sabrina to follow along. Which Sabrina did for quite some time until she packed up and left--without talking about it! Communication, people! The chapters devoted to the dogs were very well written and I fell in love with the dogs--all of them. So, without the people, this would be a 5 star recommendation from me....but, I dropped it to a 3 because, well, I just did not like Sabrina, Liam or Brad. This review is my own opinion.
My grandchildren are all dog lovers and big readers, so I have been gifting them books from W. Bruce Cameron for a long time. How exciting that I could read an adult story from this author! I especially enjoyed the way it was told from the viewpoints of the dogs. Just when Liam and Sabrina are forging a family with Liam's three dogs, they are torn apart by a tragic accident. The dogs are taken to the shelter and eventually placed in separate homes. One of the dogs makes it his mission to bring them all back together with their humans. Such an inspiring and heartwarming story! Thanks to NetGalley, Forge Books and the author for an advance copy to read and review.
My thanks to Net Galley, Tor, and Forge for allowing me to review this WONDERFUL book!!
When a tragedy separates 3 dogs from their owner, they do everything in their power to find their way back to each other. I like the way the story is told from the POVs of the dogs from their new homes.
I highly recommend this book., look forward to more from this author and please send me an invite to the next book!
You want to know how much I loved this book, well it took me 24 hours to finish it. I kept wanting to know what was going to happen to Liam, Sabrina, Riggs, Luna and Archie and I couldn't wait to find out. Who doesn't like a story that involves dogs.
Although, I found parts of the story fanciful, I loved how the story ends. I love the journey all the characters take and the experiences they have but I didn't like the reality the dogs found themselves in when they were suppose to have found safe homes and how because we don't understand them, they get the raw end of the stick. I liked how smart Luna is, how brave Riggs is and how goofy Archie is, and I like that there is a happy ending. I like that some of the street dogs found their forever home.
In this story as in real life, It makes me sad that all these wonderful people who want to help dogs and cats have to do the most horrendous thing because others aren't responsible enough not to breed extra pets.
I want to thank Tor Publishing Group | Forge Books and NetGalley for an advance copy of a book about the love of dogs.
Do not start reading this book without a box of kleenex by your chair. Be sure to warn everyone you recommend the book to after you finish that it's an emotional story that will make them cry too. There is not a chapter that will not have you pulling for these pups to get their "pack" back. Now, I have to go hug my pups.
So my main negative was that the book is written in 3rd person, which took so long to kind of get into the flow of reading. But the 3rd person was so necessary to be able to get the thoughts and actions of all of the characters. The entire book made me hold onto my senior pup even more. The love and perseverance of these 3 dogs were amazing . I also absolutely adored the epilogue as well, getting all of the dogs ending was perfect.
The book as a whole gave me Homeward Bound vibes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for the ARC!
I cannot express this enough. If you have never read a Bruce Cameron book read one. I have never been let down by one of his books. This book is no different. I loved the dynamics of all three dogs. Each one is as unique as any dog you will find in a home. That there are three in this pack is perfection. They play off each other beautifully, and the way they each go through their trials and tribulations just is testament of how much a dog can love their humans. Add in Liam and Sabrina’s stories and they all play off each other to really show the power of having the perfect pack. This book is just beautiful.
Thank you so much to Tor Publishing Group and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.
This was my first book by this author and I totally loved it. The story mostly told from the viewpoints of the dogs, was gut wrenching at times. It made me want to wrap my dog in my arms and bawl. It took me several days to finish, but that last night I was determined to finish it. There was no way I was going to be able to sleep until I knew there was a happy outcome.
The dogs all belong to one man and his girlfriend, but circumstances tear them away. They all end up with different stories before they come together again. It had a great ending, so don't worry.
Thanks to Tor Publishing Group and NetGalley for the copy. All thoughts are my own.
