I really enjoyed how art was woven into these books; it helped me visualize the story more vividly than usual! Ethan's defense of her when they first met was exactly what we all deserve. I loved how he fell for her first—it's like he's a walking green flag! The backstories were also a highlight for me; they added depth to the characters, who were all incredibly well-developed.
After reading “Holiday Star”, I was definitely interested in more of Melissa Dymond’s works. Medical romances never disappoint.
Tropes:
- Hate to love
- dual timeline
- forced proximity
- One bed
- medical romance & suspense
- he falls first
This book didn’t disappoint, the slow burn and the banter was top notch. There isn’t a moment I felt bored. The dual timelines are written so well without any confusion with the present.
Tiffany and Ethan are so cute and perfect. From being a scaredy and lonely kid and betrayed by friends to being a resident in one of the top fields of medicine the character development is incredible.
Ethan is like a perfect book boyfriend. The way he remembers tiniest details of her routine, makes her coffee how she likes & offering her comfort by shattering the walls she placed.
Also adding to the mix suspense of Tiffany’s past I was anxious about what’s gonna happen next. Although the plot is somehow predictable I can’t wait the story to unfold in the prequel about her father. I hope there will be a closure on Shelly too!
As an avid greys anatomy fan I absolutely jumped on the chance to read this ARC!
I absolutely love the use of art in books, and these didn't disappoint, it made me picture the story better than I usually do!
We all deserve an ethan defending her when they first met, I absolutely loved how he fell first! He's a walking green flag
I also loved reading the back stories, I felt it give more depth to the characters, they were all so well developed!
I want to thank netgalley and Victory editing
I DNF this book. Really didn't like it from the beginning, it's not the kind of rom com I was expecting. I didn't like the characters nor the style of writing.
Because the author is a doctor, I expected to have more interesting medical tidbits throughout the book, but no, the book was just focused on the annoying, petty characters, especially on Tiffany's past, which takes up a good chunk of the book and didn't contribute much to the romance - it was kind of like a thriller and felt very weird in a rom com.
The quality of the writing wasn't great either.
The book didn't turn out to be what I was expecting and I would not recommend it.
Paging Dr. Hart was an intriguing medical romance with a twist! Tiffany Hart is in her radiology residency when she meets Ethan Clark. Ethan is charismatic and handsome. This infuriates Tiffany. Tiffany had a rough past and doesn't know that she will ever be able to trust anyone. Ethan and Tiffany grow closer working together, but will Tiffany be able to outrun her past so that she can have a future with Ethan?
This book was a fun read and the mystery/suspense aspect was a twist that I enjoyed. I wish that Tiffany and Ethan's romance didn't feel so rushed, but I enjoyed them as a couple!
This was a super cute story. I appreciate that the author offers this book as spicy or closed door. I just wasn't a fan of the Taylor Swift lyrics throughout and the past/present hopping.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
In Paging Dr. Hart by Dr. Melissa Dymond, Dr. Tiffany Hart is trying to forget her dark past, which is full of turmoil, as she hasn't been very lucky. Having grown up in a poverty-stricken neighborhood with her mother as her only relative, her fears of finding herself alone in this world come true when she dies. Her only friend relocates to a different place, but later they find each other, which leads her to crime. She then betrays her together with her crush Rafe. At some point, she decides to take charge of her life and pursue her dream of being a doctor. Now she is fortunate to work in a hospital, but her dark past still weighs heavily on her heart. But then Dr. Ethan Clark comes along her path, and she is not ready to let anyone into her heart, regardless of whether that person is as handsome and enchanting as Dr. Ethan. This is proving to be a hard task because life seems to put them together constantly. To find out what will become of these two doctors, find a copy of the book Paging Dr. Hart by Dr. Melissa Dymond.
I like the way the author has incorporated both past and present stories in one book. She has also made sure that both stories are engaging, leaving the readers not sure which story is better, past or present, because both are fascinating. The characters are also great. I like both Dr. Hart and Dr. Ethan as characters; they are characters readers can easily relate to. I also like Rafe; it seems like deep inside he has a kind heart, although buried by life's circumstances.
I rate this book Paging Dr. Hart by Dr. Melissa Dymond 5 out of 5 stars. The book is very captivating, and the author is an excellent storyteller. Most books with past and present stories leave readers feeling that one of them is boring while the other is interesting; however, in this case, the writer has figured out how to make the two stories similarly intriguing.
I recommend this book to readers who love workplace romance books; they will enjoy it immensely. I also recommend it to those who have a dark buried past that hinders them from enjoying this wonderful life; they will learn that life has a way of giving joy even to those who have long given up on it.
This was a very cute read. Being in the medical field myself, there are a lot of great medical facts that don’t seem googled or half researched that give great context to the story. They don’t seem heavy or too medical for the book audience either - like how I feel about greys anatomy. The beginning was a little slow to get into but it definitely picked up.
The sweet / spicy version is interesting to me and gives readers a choose your own adventure feel. I wonder how reading the sweet version would affect the story and romance / connection of the couple.
Increíble book , such a pleasure to read , big shoutout to the author as it kept me on my toes as well as giggling throughout the characters journey . Would definitely read again and recommend - thank you
Thank you to NetGalley and Dr. Dymond for an Advanced Reader Copy of this title!
This book was like enjoying a little sweet treat (like a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar from Disneyworld)! I am not usually a contemporary romance reader, but as a fourth year medical student I was absolutely hooked on the idea of a romance between rival resident physicians, written by someone who actually understands the ins and outs of medical school and residency. I loved the banter between the MMC and FMC, and though I feel like the explanations of medical terms and what was going on will probably feel a little obvious to students/physicians, they will be extremely useful for non-medical readers. I would say that the overall story does a good job of balancing the line between "these are real-life things that could happen to real people" and Grey's Anatomy levels of "why do these doctors always end up in once-in-a-lifetime danger and drama"; it kept things interesting without asking the reader to completely detach themselves from reality.
There were also some additional aspects of the book outside of the story that I really found appealing as a reader and consumer. I really like that a portion of the proceeds go to charity. I also really like that there are sweet and spicy versions of the story, which is not something I have seen before in books that I've read - I had the spicy version and it was GREAT, but I really appreciate that people will still be able to enjoy the story and romance without these elements if they so choose. Finally, I LOVED the inclusion of a section at the end of the book that give an explanation of how the medical school and residency process works - I always feel like Charlie Day in the Pepe Silva meme when I'm trying to explain what I'm doing to friends and family, so for that section to be included felt very much like a "to be loved is to be seen" moment for me.
I will definitely be tracking down Dr. Dymond's other published title, and will seek out further works in this universe (there are some loose ends that are left to be tied up in subsequent novels, though they will also be readable as stand-alone works from what I understand). Thank you for a fun read!
I like that there are two versions of this book. I read the spicy version. My favorite thing about this book is Tiffany's backstory that we get flashback chapters for and how it connects to her present. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters in the present with Ethan, because ~tension~. A huge plus that Ethan is a huge green flag and is so patient with Tiffany. I love a good forced proximity and we definitely get that here.
Overall, it was such a great, easy, and fun read!!
Book: 3.8 (round to 4)
Spice: 2.5
adult contemporary romance, forced proximity, adult, chick lit
Thank you NetGalley and Victoria Editing for the ARC!! I always appreciate it.
From the very first page, I was hooked on Paging Dr. Hart. From the get go, Tiffany was incredibly relatable to me, making this an instant win.
Dr. Tiffany Hart's journey to finding her own McDreamy in Ethan Clark was so much fun to read. They instantly had sizzling chemistry, and Ethan's overly confident demeanor is irresistibly cute, I totally understand why Tiffany wants to hate him at first but can't help being charmed by him.
Tiffany's fear of repeating a painful history added depth to her character that I found really compelling and the mystery element woven throughout the story and the flashback chapters were masterfully done. They not only built Tiffany's character, but also gave us insight into her relationships with Shelly, Mr. Chen, and her mum. Seeing these relationships develop and understanding what made Tiffany afraid to let anyone in was truly fascinating.
I also appreciated the chapters that delved into the medical aspects. They were detailed and interesting, adding an educational layer to the story that I enjoyed.
The last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat! I couldn't put the book down and am eagerly awaiting Melissa Dymond's next release.
I DEVOURED this book in 24 hours! The plot is unique and captivates your attention with equal parts dreamy romance and suspense! I have not read anything like it before and appreciate how the various plotlines seamlessly weave together (think Grey’s Anatomy meets Oceans Eleven).
Tiffany is a hardworking radiologist who, as a Type-A rule follower with a traumatic past, has learned that she can’t rely on anyone but herself. Enter Ethan, a devastatingly handsome new doctor in her department, who also happens to be a smart, capable, and upstanding guy. There are sparks from page 1 and their friendship and chemistry felt as natural as breathing!
The pacing of the interwoven dual timelines (Tiffany's past and present-day) is engaging and easy to follow. It was unexpected to come across several nuggets of sage advice woven into what I expected to be a straightforward romance novel.
A few of my favorite quotes:
- “…time moves on and things change. You can either change with them or resist and get stuck.”
- “A job is great, especially ours [as doctors], but as much as you love it, a job can’t love you back. It won’t hold you when you get home from a hard day’s work. It won’t give you a pep talk when you fail. It won’t wipe away your tears. You need a person for that. Someone to love you.”
Extra Reasons to Smile:
- Dr. Melissa Dymond includes trigger warnings and a sweet note, “Please check trigger warnings. Your mental health is more important to me than book sales. XOXO, Melissa” –– SO endearing!
- I was also surprised to learn this book is available in two versions – spicy (very good!) and clean (kiss only)
- Oh, and there are a few bonus chapters you can opt to read – so fun!
‘Paging Dr. Hart’ is a great feel-good romance with a twist – perfect for a vacation getaway or to read in bed after a long day at work! THANK YOU to Dr. Melissa Dymond, NetGalley, and Victory Editing for the e-arc copy in exchange for my honest review!
I really loved this book! it was my first medical romance book and it did not disappoint! I loved the romantic suspense aspect of the book, it really kept me intrigued and engaged into the book! I loved Ethan! he was so sweet and so in love with tiffany the whole book which was so good! I loved the trauma reputation! Overall, so good, fun and fast paced!
I had no idea I needed a suspense hospital romance, but I definitely did! I absolutely loved Tiffy and Ethan, they had a really cute reverse grumpy sunshine thing going, and I didn’t expect to read this book in one sitting!
Thank you, Melissa and netgalley, for the e-arc. I had a wonderful time reading this one!
I love a sweet cinnamon roll mmc and Ethan was the perfect man for Tiffany!
I enjoyed the alternating timelines and the suspense plot, it kept me on my toes and I just couldn't put it down and kept wanting to know what's going to happen.
The spicy scenes were amazing, too! There's a little cliffhanger at the end and Melissa said that there will be future books within the same Dr. Hart unverse that will hopefully answer all our unanswered questions. I can't wait to hear about Tiffy and Ethan again!
Overall, 4.5/5 for me!(I wish we got Ethan's pov too).
I loved this book! It's well-written, enjoyable, and a great read. Dr. Melissa Dymond did a great job of writing in a way that captured my attention, and made me not want to put it down until I was finished! It's no surprise it's super popular on BookTok and Bookstagram! I would highly recommend it!
Absolutely amazing!! When I first saw the title, I was a little skeptical, and thought it might be very campy. That could not have been further from the truth! The story was magical and the equivalent of two books in one. Melissa handled the back and forth perfectly between Ohio and Las Vegas with no break in the action. There was also the consummate amount of suspense and angst to keep you enthralled throughout. What is Tiffany scared of and who is contacting her after all of this time?
The characters were well developed and impossible not to like. Every prominent character had some redeeming qualities, and even with their flaws, were the epitome of human nature. Tiffany is the ultimate protagonist and I loved the way she developed over the course of the book. I would highly recommend this to fans of multiple genres - romance, suspense, contemporary fiction, women's literature, etc. There is even a cat named Fred!
Melissa Dymond is a new favorite and I can't wait to see what comes next!
It was a good book! I read it and didn't know before hand that there was a spicy/open door and a sweet/clean/closed version. I love that this is an option for readers!!!
For me it was no problem that this was the spicy/open version.
Really recommend this book if you like reading books about a medical workplace romance!
So. Much. Fun. Such a blast, had a great time, please read. It’s like Grey’s Anatomy but with a touch more fun
