This absolutely scratched the Diviners and Dark Talents itch. But why is it only a duology? Anyway really enjoyed this follow up to the Witch's Lens. Will definitely be rereading this series.

If you are a fan of Divine Rivals you will love this series, it’s soooo much better! It’s historical fiction in a wartime setting with the fantastical mix of magic & mystery and a touch of romantic intrigue. Engrossing from beginning to end.

The Wolf's Eye is book # 2 in The Order of the Seven Stars series by Luanne G. Smith. While listening to this audiobook I didn't realize it was part of the series and was able to follow the plot of this novel. I am now wanting to to start this series again with book 1 and relisten to book 2.
Petra Kurková is a witch who is saught after by Josef Svoboda, a recruiter for the Order of the Seven Stars. Josef has his own secrets , after being bitten by a warewolf . Between a few other members of The Order of the Seven Stars are trying to find a cure for Josef before they have to do something about him. Petra is also learning about the truth of her father and his work with the Other. I want to thank both NetGalley and Brilliance Audio for letting me have an advance copy of this audio book.

This was an alternate historical fantasy. We start with a group of friends fleeing the battlefront in search of a way to support their friend, Josef, from a werewolf bite. They had a cure that kept the wolf at bay, except for the full moon, but they lost it. They hoped to find the cure's creator or the records of its creation. Petra is the lone female within their group and has a special magical ability to reform things. She agrees to be studied by magical researchers in trade for what might lead them to a cure for their friend. There is a slow-burn-maybe-type of romance between Petra and Josef, but it really doesn't go beyond hints of interest.
I liked the timeline and the hints of history, including the landmarks of the city they were in. There were some good action scenes and a bit of mystery and intrigue to keep it moving. It did feel slow in places but that could just be me. The second half was definitely better than the first as far as pacing went. I also didn't realize that it was the second in a series until after I had finished.
Many thanks to author Luanne Smith and NetGalley for the free copy of this Audiobook in exchange for an honest review!

The second half of a duology (book 1: The Witch’s Lens), The Wolf’s Eye picks up where book 1 ends. Set in Prague, Poland during WWI, Petra and her crew hunt for a cure for the vlkodnak curse (werewolf) to save one of their own from being hunted. Eastern European magic and lore, alchemy and science anchored this fantasy tale. I really enjoyed the heavy emphasis on scientific alchemic processes and discoveries. I also really enjoyed the subtitle subplot of Petra and Josef’s slow burn romance. Having it be so subtitle, made the reader savor every detail.

For the audiobook, Shalan was a treat to listen to. I greatly enjoyed her ability to provide character variances and accents. I’d happily listen to more of her performances.

Thank you to NetGalley, Luanne G. Smith, and Brilliance Audio for the audiobook ARC.

I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me an audio-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Picking up directly after the first book, we follow Petra and her new friends as they try and help one of their own break their curse while simultaneously unraveling Petra's own past. I actually enjoyed this book more than the first. I found the way the reveals were done as everything came together was a lot more entertaining and had me at the edge of my seat.

I'm also super happy that the slowest burn romance ever is finally developing. Still not completely there, but it's getting there!! Otherwise, I found myself enjoying this book so, so much. I loved the magic, the way its embedded into the history and world, and all the explanations for why Petra is the way she is

The audiobook was fantastic and well done, and the narrator did an amazing job bringing this book to life.
