This is a great book for any kid interested in facts and oddities! I love the different animals that you maybe didn’t know the fun pieces about them. I plan on getting a physical of this for not just my kid but my nieces and nephews as well.

This is a fascinating book full of unique animals that are unexpected in various ways. Some examples include penguins that live in the forest, black bears with white fur, octopuses with shells, and pigs that swim in the sea.

The facts come in bite-sized chunks that are easy for kids to digest. The pages are vibrant with bright background colors and a combination of photographs and illustrations of the animals discussed on each page.

This is a great book to read with little ones who are interested in animals and the natural world but seem to have exhausted the standard fare of children's books about animals.

*Thanks to NetGalley and DK Children for providing an early copy for review.

Any child whether they love animals or not, will find this book engaging. Mother Nature has created some odd-ball animals and this book looks at a variety of them. Weirdly cute to creepy animals all have a place as each animal is featured with a colorful picture or drawing alongside a short description of the animal and how it fits in their environment. The language is appropriate for the younger crowd but does not oversimplify the concepts. I would hand this to 3-6 graders with confidence that they would find it easily accessible. Younger readers will enjoy the illustrations and pictures while a caregiver reads.

This book was absolutely fascinating! Both my young son and I learned so much about different animals we had never seen before. This book is broken down into an easy to understand sections. The different facts including size of appendages, feather colors were so interesting. I think this book would be perfect for a classroom learning about animals. The text and photos are both very engaging! Definitely a great book for any animal loving kiddo!

4/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Ben Hoare.

This is such an interesting book about strange animals. There is so much information on creatures that are different from others of their species.

This is the perfect book for anyone with kids that are interested in animals and strange things. As someone who always loved reading about animals and animals that stand out, I loved this book even as an adult. I will be getting this book for my future kids as well.

Pjs, cuddling, and story-time before bed is a favorite at our house! The last couple weeks the kids had so much fun reading some new material I was given advanced copies of. It’s cute how now they ask what new books I have to read. As soon as I’m finished they will tell me what they loved about the book. My great little reviewers! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📚📖 @netgalley #netgalley

This book is amazing me and my kids poured over the pictures and facts. I love any book that helps my littles be curious about the world and this book delivered. The pictures are beautiful and vivid. The facts are fascinating and even as a late 30s adult i learned things that i didn't even know were possible or even existed. We will absolutely be looking into more books by Hoare!

The photos are bright, clear, and gorgeous, but it's the presentation that makes this my favorite new animal book. The presentation really makes this gorgeous book stand out.
The facts are really fun, too. I have never heard of many of these animals, and even the ones I've heard of have neat facts. I think it's so cool that kangaroos used to live in trees and there is one species of nocturnal monkeys! Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
