This was a quick read for me, so much so that I could have finished in one day if I had the time. Now when I read mystery books I normally have it figured out who the culprit is way before the authors reveal it. In this case, I did not have it figured out till a paragraph before the characters found out. I liked the relationship between Zoe and her husband Pete and how they deal with some crazy life challenges. I liked how the author took several different instances and had them all connected by the end. This book is number 13 in the series (I had no idea) I do feel that you can read it as a stand-alone. The only thing that you would be missing out on is the growth of the character's relationships and how they got there. After reading this, I do want to go back and read the other books.

Zoe Chambers-Adams (Monangahela County Coroner) and her husband Pete Adams (Police Chief Pete Adams) investigate 2 cases which they think it is connected to each other. A woman was murdered in the Vance Motel, Doc assume someone was stalking him, Zoe wanted to fire Davis. Things get complicated when they found out that the victim’s was the doctor’s ex-wife. He wanted to talk to Zoe and what could that be? Another case was the one they thought as a “suicide” case. What would be the connection of this? Is it really a suicide?

I love the pacing of the book which is addictive to read. This is my first book of the author and for the Zoe Chambers series. I keep wanting to read. This is such a brilliant mystery thriller! There is a lot of things happening and it keeps me also guessing as if I am part of the investigation. The characters were easy to follow, all of the people working on the case. I love Zoe & Pete relationship! They respect each other and really working together as a team!

The action in this book was so good! I felt like I was in the scene! It keeps me on the edge of my seat! It’s so intriguing and mystery! I would definitely read more of this series but this can read as stand alone.

4 🌟! Thank you netgalley for providing me the book. Read this if you like mystery, easy to read, and if you’re interested in police & medical procedures! (

This was a fast-paced book about multiple murders that seem to be related to each other. It had me hooked from the first page. There was a lot going on which made it even more interesting and kept me guessing till the end. The plot was brilliant.

The characters were well-developed. I liked Zoe’s character and her relationship with her husband Pete. They respect, understand and trust each other and their love for each other is adorable.

This was my first read by this author and it did not disappoint. It is the thirteenth book of the Zoe Chambers series, but can be read as a standalone.

I would recommend this book if you love police and medical procedural crime thrillers.

Thank you so much Level Best Books, Netgalley and Annette Dashofy for this ARC copy!

The title explains the book , self explanatory. Good easy thriller, decent writing and paced well. I’d suggest it to anyone looking for a fast read.

If you are interested in a fascinating police and medical procedural, then this is the book and series for you. County Coroner Zoe Chambers-Adams realizes that it is time to fire her Chief Deputy as he has caused nothing but strife in her department as well as undermining her authority. Before she can do so, she is asked, by her friend and forensic pathologist, to investigate the ruling of suicide in the death of a man from five years ago. Meanwhile, Zoe’s husband, Police Chief Pete Adams, is called to the brutal murder scene of a woman who recently arrived in town. The woman arrived solely for the purpose of speaking to Zoe about her ex-husband, Zoe’s Chief Deputy. Was he involved in her death? When a young woman requests Pete’s assistance to find the person stalking her, there is something about the woman that makes him suspicious. When she seems a bit too interested in him, what does she really want? This is one of my all-time favorite series, a strong female character who battles for justice until the thrilling end! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

When I finish a Zoe Chambers Mystery, I always have to take a few minutes to just to breath, to let it become part of me. I wish I explain how amazing they are, how much they touch me, how much I just plain enjoy them in a review.
In What Comes Around, A Zoe Chambers Mystery, Annette Dashofy brings us another breath-stopping death investigation with County Coroner Zoe Chambers. Zoe's short time as coroner has not been easy with the loss of her beloved mentor, a deadly hurricane, and a deputy coroner who will stop at nothing to get her job. That threat to her position comes to play when a friend's request could put her job right in his hands. The need to find justice for the dead is as inherent in her soul as her love of horses. The fact that investigation really isn't in her job description doesn't keep her from doing her best to discover whether or not a chef and restaurant owner really committed suicide. The fact that her nemesis might have swayed the earlier investigation only adds to her need to look into the death.

I adore the relationship between these almost newlyweds! The respect and understanding they share brings to mind some of the best marriages I have seen in real life. A stunning development tests the strength of that bond. We do not spend as much time as usual with some of the regular characters who are working to recover from the flood as well as carry on their regular jobs, but the ones who are move involved throw their strengths into making the story stronger. Annette Dashofy's secondary characters are as key and interesting as Pete and Zoe.

I am always thrilled when Netgalley, Level Best allow me to read and review an ARC even though I also pre-order a personal copy. I am already telling my friends how much I loved What Comes Around, but it takes a little longer to keep trying to write a review good enough to post. This one isn't, but I give up. Here it is y'all, a great book is about to be released! Enjoy!

I have not read a novel by Annette Dashofy before but I will rectify that soon. What Comes Around is the umpteenth installment in the series but does well as a stand alone. Zoe, the county coroner, and her recently married police chief husband, Pete, become immersed in the brutal murder of a single mother, a woman who came to see Zoe with information but is murdered before she can contact her. What follows are events that tie this murder to seemingly unrelated attacks on Zoe's two pathologists.
The final twist depends on a coincidence that telegraphs to the reader in bold red arrows but the wild, tense ride of a conclusion makes that a minor plot device.

A marvelous murder mystery thriller. Hooked from the first page and won't be able to stop reading. A story about multiple murder mysteries that may be in twine together. Or is there a copycat serial killer on the loose? Are they all related?

That’s what Pete, a police officer, and his wife Zoe, a coroner are trying to figure out. They gain help from reliable resources to discover the murders. However, will they be in danger trying to solve them? Their plot twists throughout the story and secrets are revealed. Did they crack the case or is the killer on the loose?

The Zoe Chambers series is one of my favorites, and the latest book did not disappoint. Zoe had followed the adage "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" by appointing Dr. Charles Davis as her chief deputy in the coroner's office, but it didn't stop his personal attacks and behind-the-scenes manipulation. Things get complicated when Zoe and Pete discover that a recent homicide victim was the doctor's ex-wife, who had come to find Zoe because she had something important to share. The story is full of intrigue and personal touches that characterize these books. This is a must-read!

Zoe is asked to look into a cold case. And it's not as easy as it seems. This book is very entertaining and suspenseful with well developed characters and a nice writing style. I was immediately immersed in the story and I didn't want to stop reading. I didn't know this book was a part of a series. I missed some background but the story can be read as a standalone.
I received an advance review copy for free via Netgalley/Best Level Books and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

An enjoyable read and great to be back with Zoe and Pete.

A woman is murdered in the Vance Motel, Doc, investigating a cold case, is being watched and meanwhile, Pete seems to have acquired a stalker of his own. Charles Davis is slating Zoe’s work to the press and then a discovery about the murdered woman seems to link everything to Zoe, putting her life in danger.

I loved the fast pace, the characters (even Chuckie, for what he brings to the story), and the twisty suspense.

This is only my second read in this brilliant series, so although there is a continuity, they also read well as standalone books.

4.5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Annette Dashofy and Level Best for an ARC in return for an honest review.

This is my first book by this author so this was my first Zoe mystery as well. The mystery is well thought out with its complex plot. I liked all of the characters and enjoyed the book. Annette is a great writer! I also like the mentions of animals in the book especially her cats, lol! I was almost mad thinking a certain character had died, but that ended well as did the rest of the plot. I might check out some more of her Zoe mysteries but I am also intrigued by her “Death by Equine” book too!

This is the latest addition to this series and while I did enjoy it, it isn't my favorite.
Usually I find myself immersed in the pages from the beginning, but this one took a bit more time to get into.
There is a lot going on and the twists and turns are pretty good.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

WHAT COMES AROUND BY Annette Dashofy

Pete and Zoe are delightful newlyweds, whose idea of a perfect day off is a picnic in a lovely park . . . while chasing down clues about two murders. The mysteries are so twisty and complex that the metaphor of a jigsaw puzzle is perfect, including the confusion when trying to fit a piece into the wrong spot. I love them and their loyal friends so much that I’ll even forgive them, and Annette Dashofy, for lost sleep. It’s the ultimate compliment, I tried to sleep, awoke an hour later, and HAD to finish the book before I could slumber again, and I don’t regret it at all.
Zoe is a better person than I am. She has such a good heart that she even wishes good outcomes for the truly terrible persons. I confess I take some delight in just deserts.
I needed reminders that this is only weeks after HELPLESS because more time has passed for me, but it was delightful to step back into their story. You don’t have to read the books in order, but I like to, even though they stand alone quite well. I also appreciate a good solid, satisfying ending, while (im)patiently waiting for the next grand adventure.

This wasn't my typical type of thriller but was a very classic who done it. I think reading other books in the series prior to this would be the best bet. However the ending was pretty good! Thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to branch out and read a different type of thriller than I'm used to.

The story was good and had a lot of characters in it that kept you guessing until the end, while giving you some personal building of the main characters and even a surprise in their life.

I enjoyed most of this book and it was easy to get involved with the characters lives and personalities, especially with this being my first read by this author. There was one twist that didn't seem necessary but maybe it fits in fully with the series, definitely looking to read more.
