Stunning.
Quite simple poetry which took me on a journey that I loved.
I'm not usually one for poetry but the description alone made me want to read it - it did not disappoint.
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC
End bi erasure!
Her Him and I by Christian Weissman is a beautiful debut collection of poetry. Weissman's verses challenge hegemonic masculine narratives and captures the queer experience of bisexual men (one that is often omitted from discussion). However, I did find it to be quite repetitive and reminiscent of Rupi Kaur style poetry.
I really enjoyed the formatting of this book. Having it as a poetry style book bring a different viewpoint, it changes the cadence and keeps you on your feet. I also really enjoyed the topics that were in each poem.
This is an unusual and emotional poetry collection that explores heartbreak at different stages of life and relationships - moreover explores that heartbreak never really leaves you and will always shape who you become. This poetry was lively, rich and emotional. I can't wait to see what this poet can do in years to come - the maturity of a life lived would add additional perspective to these reflections. Really enjoyable and well worth a read.
Beautiful collection of poetry about self-discovery. The writing of each work felt so personal, raw, and filled with emotion. If you are looking for a poetry book either to binge or to slowly savor, this is the one for you!
"Her, Him and I" is a debut collection of poetry and I absolutely loved it. The author's poems depict the journey of the author as he navigates the path to self-discovery, breakups with both a woman and a man and ultimately embracing growth and maturity.
I really enjoyed the poems especially "liquid Lobotomy", "Tadalafil?", "Morning Routine" and many others that spoke to me on a personal level. These poems reminded me of the poets Rudy Francisco and Amanda Lovelace (two of my favorites).
I was unaware of who the poet was, and after I finished the book I Googled him and found out that he is also an actor. His writing talent is remarkable. So, I hope this is the start of a great writing career for him.
Gripping from the very first page, this poetry collection deals heavily with the topics of grief, heartbreak, and, ultimately, self-love. I loved how the collection is divided into 3 parts and we are slowly progressing from the feelings of acute pain, loss and grief to self-reflection and self-discovery. I really enjoyed the flow through the collection and the reflections on toxic masculinity and societal expectations in the third part of the book.
A beautiful collection of poetry filled with bi vibes, heartbreak and love.
When a relationship comes to a close
it's very normal
to feel like you're dying.
A piece of you is,
and a new version of you
is growing in that empty spot.
Over the past few years,
I've cried hundreds of tears,
counted thousands of regrets
and longed for a love
that millions want
but few ever achieve.

Nothing that stings will hurt forever. Nothing that intoxicates me will keep me high indefinitely.
If I should describe this book with three words it would be; short, emotional and honest.
The poems are about searching and finding yourself. About coming to terms with some “shameful” things about yourself.
I could relate to some of the poems a lot and they reminded me about myself when I was young. Some of the feelings and thoughts that our narrator has.
I’m sure everyone will find something relatable in this poems collection.
I doubt I was the target audience for this poetry collection. There were surface things I could understand and relate to, and there were some things I found myself disagreeing with. Overall, the collection felt a little repetitive, heartbreak a prominent theme and I think I’ve just read too many of these types of collections to be moved anymore.
I'd use three words to describe the poems: short, honest, young.
They are actually less about love and more about searching for yourself, discovering who you are.
With every part we learn more about the narrator/author.
In some parts the poems reminds me of my early twenties. And I think twenty years old are the target group of this poetry collection.
‘Her Him and I’ is a short and sweet poetry collection where I’m sure everyone will find something to relate to. Christian Weismann explores both heartbreak and love as well as gender roles and queerness. Some of the poems were a little too “simple” than what I’m used to. But fans of this style of poetry will surely love it. The blurb describes the poems as “refined journal entries”, but they’re also so much more than that. My favourite poems are the ones on the last couple of pages. A lot of the poems also have really good titles in my opinion, like “Hollywood Hangover”, “Loving for sport”, and “Prosaic Professions”.
And a quote:
“Nothing that stings will hurt forever”

If you love queer poetry collection, this is a good one. Short and sweet about exploring sexuality. I felt the author was able to convey a message wonderfully though at times it's also heartbreaking. I enjoyed it pretty much.
I liked the simplicity of the poems. At first, looking at the title, I thought it's about one sided love story. But as I dived deep into it, I saw a completely different aspect of love and heartbreaks. The poet talked about his life of realisation - of his identity. June is indeed the best month to pick this up - since it talks about the most important topic of discussion - life of a queer. The language is moderate, so those who are fond of reading must pick this up! I personally admired this collection.
I almost DNF'd this at the beginning but as I went on I enjoyed the poems more and the second half was amazing. Overall it's hard to rate on a star rating since the first half I felt wasn't as fleshed out and some of the poems read more like a journal article than poetry but the second half was absolutely amazing. I think if some of the earlier poems had been fleshed out more or the order changed it would have made the collection better.
Nothing can be more personal than a journey of self-discovery; understanding how one sees the world, how one sees themselves and how they want the world to see them. Christian Weissmann writes from the heart, pouring emotions into each poem in his collection of what it means for him to be queer in a world learning and understanding queerness.
I fell in love with Weissmann's collection. Each poem pulls at your heartstrings and reminds us that each situation and experience is individual, so personal that sharing your story weaves you into a map of life that creates a bigger picture for everyone to feel brave enough to share their stories.
I thoroughly recommend Her, Him & I: Poems to anyone who adores poetry.

I'm not typically one to pick up a poetry anthology, but something about this one just drew me in. At times it felt a bit repetitive (I can only stomach so many poems about heartbreak in a row), but there were definitely times I found myself profoundly struck by what the author had to say. I think they beautifully captured aspects of the queer experience, and I especially enjoyed the poem on challenging traditional notions of masculinity.
What a deeply personal and profound journey these poems led me on. My personal favorites were prosaic professions and journal entry #305. It reminded me about the best and worst parts about being in love and why we still do it anyway!! Really lovely read by a lovely author.
I wasn't really engaged with the first part as I didn't understand some of them, but it surprises me from the second part and its a solid 5 star for me solely on that. It's so vulnerable and I love the metaphors, there were several I especially loved. Would love to read more of Christian's!
Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy!
Favorite poem was “the fool”, I loved how much I could relate to the whole poems book. I was Only 10% into the book and I knew it was getting a good review!
