I loved this!! The illustrations are gorgeous!!! I was drawn in by the cover and art and that was my favorite part for sure! The story was incredible too, I am a sucker for an arranged marriage, enemies to lovers story! Throw in dragons and a war that's lasted 100s of years and honestly I couldn't ask for anything more! Clove and Kryo are so swoonworthy and I loved their tension, since this is volume 1 there is obviously so much to explore still with both of their backstories and I can't wait for Clove to unleash her beast. There was a little dreamwalking in this one that I am obsessed with, I hope we get more in volume 2! The side characters are also really well done, there was for sure some tension between Kryo's sister and Clove's captain of the guard, was so excited when it was basically confirmed in the end character sheets! There is also a bit of a love triangle with the Clove, Kryo, and her childhood friend/soldier; I don't think there's actually any competition for Kryo because again, he's just so swoonworthy! I do kinda hope he grows his hair out like his older brother, cause I loveee that look!

SubZero by Junepurrr, the printed edition of the popular Webtoon, dives headfirst into a classic enemies-to-lovers trope with fantastical flair. The warring dragon clans and the forced union of Princess Clove and Prince Kyro lay the groundwork for a promising story.
Junepurrr's art is eye-catching, with vibrant colors and expressive characters. The world-building, while intriguing, leaves some room for deeper exploration. The political machinations and the delicate balance of power between the clans are not always fully fleshed out.
The plot is largely predictable, following familiar beats of star-crossed lovers and hidden identities. While the romance between Clove and Kyro has potential, it often feels rushed, lacking the depth and nuance to truly invest readers in their relationship.
Overall, SubZero is a quick, enjoyable read, but it doesn't quite soar to the heights of its potential. While it delivers on the promise of dragons, political intrigue, and budding romance, it ultimately falls short of a truly captivating and original story. For fans of the Webtoon or those seeking a light fantasy read, SubZero might satisfy, but readers looking for something more substantial may find themselves wanting.

Subzero is a great story for those who love dragons, action, and arranged Marriages..
I picked this book because the cover reminded me of Ariel and prince eric from the little mermaid. But in reality with its enemies to “lovers” story it alinea more with beauty and the beast.
I love the art style. This story has enemy clans attempting peace through a marriage that near the ml nor fl want.
This is just the first book, but already I am hooked. Even though I read a lot of fantasy books this story plot still had me guessing on what will happen next.
Not to spoil anything but My favorite character is the the ML prince sister.
Over 300 pages long
Arranged marriage
Enemies to lover
No spice in first book
Dragons
Fantasy
Action

This is still getting all of the plot off the ground, but from the game pieces that have been set up on the board it does look intriguing. Still, there's also a lot to take in because of that, too. Hints of a love triangle that is hampered by duty, issues with the dragons that are feuding, political issues from all sides. I'm left wanting more, as I finish it.
I feel especially like we're only just scratching the surface of the male love interest, so far he's very much in the mold of an aloof prince with a sexual side. The opportunities where he and the female protagonist interact one on one are interesting, but often waylaid by other drama, leaving me confused that the interrelationship drama isn't enough?
Still, the art is simply gorgeous, matching the vivacity of the cover. Worth a glance for that alone.

In hopes of ending a 300-year-long war, Princess Clove, the last remaining heir of the Cerulean Dragon clan, agrees to marry the heir to the enemy Crimson Dragon clan, Prince Kyro. Their marriage is threatened by those who wish to continue the war, and Clove is hiding a secret that could threaten the alliance. Now this was a story that I came across a few years ago on Webtoon, but I got annoyed with it because I had to wait for the story to update each week. Eventually, I just gave up and never finished it. I was thrilled when I saw that this was being published, and I couldn't wait to reread this story. The abrupt ending kind of threw me off, but I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next volume.

The Cerulean Dragon clan has been at war with the Crimson Empire for over three hundred years, and the Cerulean clan is losing the war. Tired of seeing her people suffer, Princess Clove agrees to the marriage proposal from Prince Kyro in hopes their countries will once again see peace and prosperity. She quickly learns she'll have more to deal with than Kyro's inflated ego and being homesick; politics, greed, and ancient enemies are not so willing to let see this union through, and it's hard to know who to trust.
Stunning artwork. Vivid color. Dragons. A love triangle...or square? Lies and deceit. Trauma and loss. SubZero is a guilty pleasure in manga form. This Webtoon series, like many others, is finally being released in print, and this is the first volume containing the first twenty five episodes. It's got all the tropes: sunshine vs. grumpy, enemies to lovers, childhood friends to lovers, and again, that love triangle (or square) that's becoming more and more obvious with each episode.
This is a much-loved storyline seen in plenty of manga and webtoons, but Junnpurr does a lovely job making SubZero shine with thoughtfully constructed characters, careful world building, and enough foreshadowing to want to the reader wanting more. Who will Clove end up with: Kyro or Aaron? What will happen when the Azure dragon and the Red dragon meet again face to face? Will Kyro stow his massive ego and trust Clove enough to let her help him? Will the family trauma come to a happy conclusion? Will the nobles and royal start treating the servants kinder? These are all questions I have, and so, yes, I did go find this on Webtoon, and I do intend to continue to read it.
I have questions, and Junepurr has the answers.

The tension in their first meeting was amazing and had me kicking my feet. I'm not usually a fan of enemies to lovers or marriage of convenience but this has really gripped me. The character profiles at the back are beautiful and provide some interesting information about the main characters. The art style is unlike the graphic novels that I usually read but I loved it, it was so detailed.
I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for the rest of the volumes when they are released.

What a fun start to a series! I can't wait for more volumes to drop so I can follow this story and see what all unfolds!
I get the feeling there's so much more to Clove's dragon and I can't wait to uncover it!

SubZero boasts a whole enemies to lovers story line, through the heroine, Princess Clove of the Azure Clan, and Crown Prince Kyro of Crimson Clan.
The first volume of SubZero explore the backgrounds of the characters. Kyro and Clove are given a lot of attention as the main characters and as such are given chances to grow and change. As we read through the episodes, we are given more and more information on the kind of backgrounds both grew up in, especially Kyro. What we learn of his childhood and the politics within his clan helps the reader understand why he acts like he does. Growing up in an environment where you feel you can’t trust the people who are there to advise you can make anyone mistrustful of someone trying to gain a close position to them, namely Clove. Seeing all the intricacies of the kinds of political intrigue he has to deal with, and now Clove has to deal with, creates a great dramatic backdrop to their growing romance.
The romance between Kyro and Clove is kind of rocky, but that is to be expected considering the nature of their relationship. I think Clove mentions at some point that she doesn’t particularly love him, but she trusts and feels comfortable with him for most of the series’ run. Their relationship is full of tension but both outside forces of their clans and internal forces from the dragon spirits they hold. There is quite a bit of depth underneath the surface level enemy-to-lover plot line that has made me stick with it for longer than I might have otherwise.
Though the world this webtoon takes place in is beyond beautiful, with gorgeous backgrounds and lovely dress, readers don’t know much about the world itself, or even the kingdoms.
I really enjoyed SubZero. It is a great first start to the world of Webtoons, and I’ve become completely addicted to reading them since my first foray into them.

This is my first manga/graphic novel and it was super enjoyable. Dragon shapeshifters, enemies to lovers, forced marriage, snarky MMC... great vibes! The artwork was stunning too. Rating 3 stars just because I found it harder to get into than a typical novel, but I did surprise myself with how much I enjoyed it.

I absolutely love the artwork of the SubZero webtoon. It's been a few years since I began reading the story online, and I was thrilled to hear that it was finally making it's way to paper form out in the world. I hope that it means this gorgeous art and interesting story will reach an even wider audience now. While I'm not a huge fan of the romance initially, the characters grow and backstories shed light on some of the behaviours. The political struggles are believable and feel realistic for the world that has been created. I have a love/hate relationship with the dragons in that they are beautifully drawn, but annoy me as characters. I look forward to future volumes continuing this story further.

if you want an anime romeo and juliet graphic novel that is easy to read, then this will be perfect for you. I found it a little too simple and not enough exposition for my taste.
thank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for gifting me with a free review copy. all opinions are my own honest views.

One of the best Webtoon I have read, along with Lore Olympus!
I was thrilled when I heard that this webtoon was FINALLY going to be published! I was hooked from the very first page, by the illustrations, the story and (above all) the characters! I discovered this story online a few years ago and it was a pleasure to dive back into these early episodes. If you like love triangles, dragons, slow burn, enemies to lovers and, above all, stubborn (but very charming) characters, then you've come to the right place! The construction of the main relationship is brilliant, really, and you'll want to find out what happens next straight away (be warned, the wait will be unbearable...)!

I'M IN LOVEEEE!!!
I absolutely utterly in love with this story because I love dragons lore and enemies to lovers trope. Oh boy, do I want to slap the crimson dragon himself sometimes? Yes I do but gods, his past story was darker than I thought. I just want him to have a nice civil conversation with Clove before he misunderstands anything again. I feel the angst in my bones and I just knew that Clove is harbouring something very dangerous secret related to her dragon Azure and her people. What can I say? Something evil and deadly is waiting for a right moment to strike Red and Azure. Though I wonder what had happened to make them hate each other. I'm soo ready for the Volume 2 because this story is a NEED!!

Thank you NetGalley for my ARC :)
This story follows Princess Clove as she is arranged to marry Prince Kyro to end a 300 year old feud between the two dragon clans. If they want peace within their lands, they must first unite in not only marriage, but at heart and become allies; but it seems like there are others that will do what they must to prevent that from happening.
My experience with the novel: I loved the storyline, although I can tell there might be more politics with the romantic banter. I'm not one for following political storylines, but if you enjoy that, then you're going to love this webtoon turn manga! Honestly, I will continue reading to the next book, because I'm already invested, and I have fallen in love with the characters. I want to know what happens between Clove & Kyro! Although, it seems that there might be a love triangle on Clove's side, with one jealous ex girlfriend on Kyro's side. Let the drama begin!
I would totally recommend this to older teens & adults that enjoy romantic webtoons turned manga.
I would tag this as: fantasy- political- dragons- enemies to lovers- arrange marriages- romance- love triangle- graphic novel- manga

I devoured this book in one night.
A very light but captivating story that not only kept me intrigued from the first page to the last but left me wanting to jump to its sequel as soon as possible. However, all my praises were stolen by the incredible artistic talent of its author. The art in these pages is such a delight! It's absolutely beautiful.
I have very little experience with graphic novels/comics, but this Webtoon hit me in my core. It has everything I like: enemies to lovers, a brooding prince, DRAGONS...
It's not exactly like Akatsuki no Yona, but it has the vibe... iykyk. I also recommend it for all of us who fell in love with Tairn in Forth Wing 🙃
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me an eARC in exchange for an honest review 🩵

This was such acute read.
It was my first time reading something from this genre, but this storyline is very compelling! Can't wait to know what's comes next

This had everything I love in a graphic novel all wrapped up together in one plot - action, banter, politics and romance. I read this in one sitting and could NOT put it down. I cannot wait for volume 2!
The art illustrations are incredible and the boys are so dreamy 🤭🤭
I love Clove’s character, she’s brave, willing to do anything for her people, knows how to play the part and win people over, is kind, brave and tactful.
I love that we’re getting a little bit of tension with the bad boy and the good boy. I’m so interested to see where this goes next! I think fans of Yona of the Dawn may really enjoy this.
I did get a little mixed up with just a few of the panels and just what order to read them in, but that might be me more of a me thing and it wasn’t anything major.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read a digital copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I've been following this webcomic since the beginning on Webtoon Originals & it was so great to re-read the story in this format. If you enjoy enemies to lovers, Asian themed stories, dragon shifters, court politics & a slow burn romance- SubZero is for you! I also loved the character profiles the author added as bonus content. I'm very excited to get this hardcopy & pre-order Volume 2!

Thank you to Oni Press and NetGalley for an early digital copy of this graphic novel. This review is my honest feedback and given voluntarily.
Overall this wasn’t a bad start to this series/comic. Nice cozy read with great illustration. I did feel like there was a bit of background context missing but it wasn’t really a big deal for me. The illustration was beautiful and I really loved the color themes for the character groups. I had not read this comic on Webtoons prior to reading this volume of the novel version, so the whole story was new to me. I did feel like the story itself did not really progress all that much for the length of this first volume, but the amount of illustration we get is quite a lot, and honestly, for a graphic novel, I’m ok with that. I’m here for the illustration so I’m kind of appreciative of that being more at the forefront.
I look forward to seeing where this story goes, as there seems to be some more layers hidden just under the surface that are about to pop off in the next volume/episodes. I would definitely recommend as one to read for those looking to get into graphic novels or those looking for an interesting yet mysterious story with some healthy tension between characters. Enjoy!
