Saffy Huntley-Oliver is a serial killer, targeting bad men. Sounds familiar to a well known TV show? I liked when it was brought up during one scene!

Saffy develops a crush on a podcaster/author, Jonathan, who has recently found a corpse on his doorstep and is now the number one suspect in the case. Saffy's crush on this man starts to interfere with her next murder, but she knows what she's doing, right?

A fun, light mystery, not my usual listen, but entertaining nonetheless.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Why aren’t there more books about female serial killers? Bad Men is dark and creepy, but simultaneously a lot of fun. A strange mix but it totally works.

Main character Saffy is a socialite serial killer with no patience for bad men (relatable). She’s a true feminist and only kills men that, in her mind, deserve it.

Saffy becomes obsessed with Jon — an author, true crime podcaster and one of the good guys. Though a bit unhinged, Saffy’s intelligence, sassy attitude and dark sense of humor make her likable and worth rooting for.

Bad Men is a quick, easy read. The pacing is a bit off at times, and I could’ve used a little more Saffy/a little less Jon. Other than that, no complaints.

3.7 rounded up to 4.

Thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for the arc.

Julie Mae Cohen’s Bad Men is a fast paced, dark romance with bits of mystery, thriller, and rom-com. There were parts where I literally laughed out loud and other parts when I audibly asked wtf?! Bad Men is a fun, entertaining, quick read.

TW: The book starts out with a shocking implication of CSA, which I wasn’t prepared for. There are only references to previous assaults, but some readers may want be aware before starting reading.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced audio of Bad Men.

'Dexter' meets 'I'm Not Done with You Yet'. A provocative and refreshing novel that has you leaning toward rooting for the serial killer. Saffy is a likeable, clever, and relatable character who questions the rules, patriarchy, and systems in place meant to keep her safe. My new favourite phrase is officially, "little summer child", used much like "bless your heart". The book starts out quick, demanding rapt attention from the reader, but does slow down throughout the middle leaving the reader wondering what the end has in store- and luckily the finale does the book justice. I look foward to reading other work by Julie Mae Chen- she has found her place in the world of dark humour and mysterious circumstances.

Thank you NetGalley! I am here for a female serial killer !!! This took some turns I wasn’t expecting and took me on a different kind of journey. It’s always wild to be rooting for the serial killer.

I was not crazy about this title or the audiobook version but just a heads up - there is triggering information on child sexual abuse.

I have been waiting for someone to write a story about a feminist Dexter - and here it is. Her name is Saffy, and she's a friend to women everywhere who have been wronged by men. This is a fun and fantastical audiobook that will give you satisfaction if you have feminist sensibilities and are just tired of all the crimes against women by men. This story is something different, and talks about a young serial killer who has been a bit of a feminist avenging angel since her teenage days.

The book is fast-paced and the audio narration is crisp and funny. I enjoyed spending time with Saffy. Would I want to know someone like this in real life? No. Did I enjoy hearing about her exploits as a feminist escape from the depressing ongoing news of male murderers and rapists every day? Heck yes.

Narration was amazing.
This was a quick, quirky read. The plot of a female serial killer immediately caught my attention. I enjoyed the book but I do wish it had more emphasis on Saffy and her sociopathy.

I'd like to express my gratitude to NetGalley and RB media for providing an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story revolves around two main characters, Sally and John. Sally is an intelligent, wealthy, and a serial killer who targets men she deems as evil. This book shows how childhood trauma can lead someone down the path to becoming a sociopath.

John, our protagonist and hero, is a true crime podcaster dedicated to seeking justice for murders. His podcast gains popularity, and among his biggest fans is Sally herself. The plot intensifies when John becomes a suspect after a bin bag containing human remains is found on his doorstep, putting everything at risk for him. Sally enters his life with the intention of crafting a twisted love story of her life..

The book could have benefited from more character development for Sally, as I anticipated she would be the main focus. Nonetheless, it's a gripping and binge-worthy thriller, particularly appealing to those intrigued by stories involving female serial killer's love story. I also want to commend the narrator of this audio book for their fantastic performance.

the twist at the end definitely made me audibly gasp but it’s such a clever recall. it could be a little girl bossy at times but other than that it was fun.

The story begins in Newport, Rhode Island, where we are thrown into the traumatic upbringing of Saffy, who was abused by her stepfather, until she took matters into her own hands after he tried to move on to her sister Susie. Present day, an older Saffy Huntley-Oliver now uses those skills to target men she deems as "bad” and has been doing this for some time, that is until she moves to London and thinks she has found “one of the good ones’ in author and true crime podcaster John.

I found the plot line from the start VERY similar to the film Promising Young Woman. The premise is intriguing, but I found Saffy, unlikable, her abuse of animals, manipulation and holier than thou attitude is just grating and to be honest if I was John, I would have been pissed off that she wouldn’t leave me alone from the start when I repeatedly asked her to; she comes across as pushy and irritating. The flaws do add depth to her character and I suppose if you are as attractive as Saffy is portrayed to be, you can get away with most things.

I very much appreciated the side story involving the politician, I think we can all guess where the inspiration for that came from! I also enjoyed the antihero elements to this, overall a solid dark thriller but I just couldn't get behind Saffy.

I know the protagonist is supposed to have a transatlantic accent and overall the narrator did a good job, but I found it flip flopping at times to English and back again to American, which was distracting for me.

3/5

I feel like I was expecting something more like a vigilante feminist. I was underwhelmed in that aspect.
I also don’t understand why she had such an interest in the MMC.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #RBMedia for the audiobook #BadMen by #JulieMaeCohen. This book is about a female serial killer who falls for a writer/podcaster of cold cases. While Jonathan is being accused of a murder, Saffy is more than willing to help him find out who is behind it. I loved that the serial killer is a female and only kills mean who deserve it.

"Bad Men" by Julie Mae Cohen is a wickedly entertaining and refreshingly unique thriller that captivates from start to finish. With its twisty plot, dark humour, and feminist themes, it offers a fresh and thrilling take on the genre. At the center of the story is Saffy Huntley-Oliver, a glamorous socialite who also happens to be a proficient serial killer.
Cohen's storytelling is clever and addictive, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with each twist and turn. Saffy is particularly compelling, offering a complex and multifaceted portrayal of a woman who defies traditional expectations and societal norms. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found myself eagerly turning the pages to uncover Saffy's next move. I rate the book three out of five stars and would love to delve deeper into Saffy's world.

This was such an interesting listen. I cleaned my whole house listening to this and no regrets. Dark comedy at its finest.
The whole female serial killer thing was a different twist. It was fun but dark and silly even at times but still kind of creepy.
I enjoyed this more then I expect to. Great listen.
Thank you NetGalley for the AAC!

The first chapter started off well with insight into the main character's childhood. After this introduction, I had difficulty connecting with any of the characters and didn't enjoy the plot. This book wasn't for me.

A decent book. It had some really good parts. It also was a little odd with how the characters fit together. It threw me off and made me less interested in the storyline.

Loved this one! Definitely more focus on the romance than I had anticipated but it thrilled me. A serial killer who falls in love and in true manipulative fashion, orchestrates a perfect scenario to have him fall in love with her as well. Twisted, funny at times, dark, and I didn’t guess a thing about it.

If you are looking for a feminist thriller with female serial killer main character living a dual life and killing bad men, look no further.

This was such a thrilling ride and the book was filled with twists and turns. Saffy Huntley Oliver is a socialite but she has a hidden side/identity. She had an unsettling childhood and she wanted to eradicate bad men from the world. The kind of men who abuse women, murderer and rapists. Saffy thought she found her man in a true crime podcaster but as soon as secrets begin to unveil and when a dead body is found at Jon’s doorstep, he becomes a primary suspect. The unthinkable happening turns her world upside down. She is determined to clear his name but the truth is twisted.

The characters have a hidden identity and the book was fast paced. I liked Saffy’s character. She was a perfectly flawed and appeared realistic to me. The writing was good. The suspense stayed till the end. The narration was gripping. The book has it all; female serial killer, siblings bond, murder, mystery, suspense and romance.

Many Thanks to RB Media, Narrator and Author.
