Adult fantasy. 3.5 rounded up. Interesting science of biological super influences, the Charismites. There is quite a lot going on in different locations with many characters and slight time intervals. Although the chapters are all titled by the lead character I still found myself getting a bit lost. But I did like the unique story setting, and the build up to the end. I had not read the first book, but these are stand alone books in this series, so didn’t have any problems. Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op. Charismites have been kidnapped so they can be used for the political gain of a group called the Fist. This was the lure of a technological sci-fi that did not disappoint. It was a rollercoaster ride and whilst it was a sequel, it was well capable, like I did of being read as a stand-alone.
The story did alternate between friends & family and the Charismites, which sometimes made it difficult to keep track of the plot but overall a resounding good read.
