Was this book absolutely ridiculous at times? Yes. But did I have a good time? Absolutely I did. Reggie was so outlandish and so silly but I loved him so much. And I never thought I would read a romance where the FMC is an accountant and kicks butt doing it. This would be the perfect book for spooky season because of the vampires (of course). And I LOVED the Twilight references.

4.5 stars! These vampire books are my new obsession. I cannot stress enough how much I love the author's humor, writing style, and characters. Everything Reginald does is just iconic. Lowkey with his fashion sense, I kept envisioning vampire Harry Styles in my head.

To get her family off her back about being single, Amelia accidentally admits to having a boyfriend. But that boyfriend is non-existent, so she needs someone to fill in and play the part. The solution? Reginald, the quirky and chaotic stranger she keeps running into. And why does Reginald agree to this scheme (besides having nothing better to do)? He thinks it's the solution to getting a vampire cult to stop following him.

I loved the two main plot points, both the fake-dating and the Collective following Reggie. And there were so many comedic moments...their miscommunication, Reggie bullet journaling, Reggie joining a bullet journaling Discord, etc.

I also liked how the author shifted to dual POV in this book and continued with the messages/emails/articles at the beginning of each chapter. It was fun seeing both characters' perspectives—especially Reggie's inner monologues. Plus the Frederick appearances. He's definitely my favorite character in this universe. And I love the way the characters take down villains in this series, it's suspenseful but simultaneously ludicrous and hilarious. Cannot recommend this series more for a fun fall rom-com!

Thank you so much to Berkley Romance for sending me a copy of My Vampire Plus One. As always, my reviews are one hundred percent voluntary and all opinions are my own :)

🧛 Book Review 🧛

My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine
🧛
This book was just as much fun as the first one. It was ridiculous, adorable, charming, and just an overall pleasure to read. I wasn’t sure how the author was going to make Reginald into leading man material, but she did it. He’s chaotic, quirky, unapologetically himself, has the craziest fashion sense, and is completely out of touch with reality, but he’s endearing and so smitten with Amelia that you just have to love him. Their romance is so sweet and I adore them together. I loved getting Reginald’s POV, and his journal entries were pure gold. This book is light hearted, funny, has outrageous shenanigans, and was so entertaining.

When you need a fake date for a wedding... you don't expect him to be an actual vampire. Amelia Collins lives a very successful completely normal life, she's a CPA and living a very nonexistent love life. So when she is asked to go to another wedding she wants a fake date to finally get everyone off her back... and then she runs (literally) into Reginald Cleaves. Reginald is as handsome as he is a bit weird. Reginald is a vampire who has had a hard time adjusting to living in modern day and has been on the run from a secret society hunting him. When he meets Amelia he thinks she's the perfect cover for him while he's on the run. Yet the more time they spend together getting to know one another the more this fauxmance is beginning to feel very real... the only issue is that when Reginald told Amelia he was a vampire she thought he was joking... how is he gonna to reveal the truth without her running off? This was such a cute sequel to the first book and it can be read as a standalone. The romance in this one was cute and I just loved how sweet Reginald was. The story was a fast read and I hope there's another book because this series has just been so much fun to read!

I really enjoyed the first book this author wrote, and while this is kind of a sequel with overlapping characters it is minimal and this book could be enjoyed as a standalone. I liked this one a lot, but not quite as much as the first one. This is a very lighthearted vampire romance (very light on spice too). It was funny and really just a quick, run read. Amelia is an accountant and as tax season is approaching she is working endlessly long hours barely taking time to take care of herself when she literally runs into Reginald on her way to a family dinner. He asks her for a favor and tells her he owes her one before he disappears. When another impending family wedding and the judgement and disappointment of her parents looms she latches onto the idea of pretending to have a boyfriend and after bumping back into Reggie she asks him and they embark on my favorite romance trope - fake relationship.

Thank you for the free book Berkley! I LOVED this. I found it so fun and surprisingly swoony. This brand of humor was definitely my vibe and even just the little details in the excerpts at the beginning of each chapter were so engaging for me. Honestly hilarious that the FMC thinks the MMC is joking when he tells her he's a vamp.. And then they are snowed in hehe. The tropes in this were all executed in seamless ways.

I also appreciated on a more serious note that this FMC was more of the black sheep of her family, all for being unmarried and enjoying her job. I don't particularly gravitate towards fake dating but this book is an exception for me. I think because they had so much time alone connecting and being transparent about their attractions to each other and they genuinely had fun with the ruse and it was never too serious. The romance was everything, he really had to wait so long to find his soulmate and then learn how to be more open to that. I just loved these two.

My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine was such a happy surprise. I thought this was going to be a continuation/sequel of My Roommate is a Vampire and was pleasantly surprised that it was an entirely new storyline but features Reginald from book 1. The banter in this one was excellent and I loved the chemistry between the them. Sweet and cozy romcom!

I really enjoyed this book! I would place it probably at the same level as the first book in the series. I really liked Amelia's character, and I loved the relationship between Reggie and Amelia. I liked Reggie a lot in the first book in the series, so I was glad to see him get his own book as well! As with the first book in the series, I found the conclusion to the conflict to be much too simple and convenient; I would have liked a bit more complexity to that, but overall I liked this book and am excited to read whatever Jenna Levine writes next!

In this cozy vampire romcom, we have a sweet accountant who needs a date to a wedding paired with a funny and handsome vampire learning to adjust to the modern world. This book made me smile and other than a few little things. It's really a good time!

Amelia works as an accountant and is busy with tax season when her mother tells her she needs to find a date for her cousin’s wedding. Reginald (Reggie) is a colorful and funny character who makes everyone laugh. They collide outside of a coffee shop and when they see each other there the next day, her best friend encourages her to ask him to be her fake date to the wedding. Reggie tells Amelia right away that he’s a vampire but she doesn’t believe him because circumstances cause her to think he’s playing a part in a role play game.

I really enjoyed when Reggie and Amelia get to know each other and the humor around him being a vampire. It was fun to see them at the wedding and activities that led up to it, especially when Reggie plays history trivia with Amelia’s dad who is a history buff. It’s funny when the game has different answers from what Reggie remembers actually happened.

One of the very best parts of the story is when Amelia realizes Reggie really is a vampire. Reggie is hiding from a vampire organization that is searching for him over something they think he was involved in a long time ago (but of course, he is innocent). When he becomes stressed, his friend Cassie, the female lead from the first book in the series, gives him a bullet journal. I hadn’t heard of those before but it’s cute when Reggie gets involved with some online bullet journal groups.

The parts that felt weird for me are the spicy scenes (he’s a vampire so he’s cold to touch and has no heartbeat) and I would love to see more of his cool vampire powers (at least he can fly). It also would have been nice to see more of Reggie and Amelia as a couple but, even so, the story is a delight and the humor shines.

I was wavering between a B and B+ grade and I decided on the B+ because of Reggie’s humor and the fun banter between both Amelia and Reggie’s friend Frederick from My Roommate is a Vampire.

There’s also a good twist at the that I didn’t see coming. This book stands well alone but I think it helps to have read the first book, My Roommate is a Vampire, to learn a little more about the characters. This was a cute, vampire romance for readers who like light paranormal romances and I look forward to seeing more from this author.

e-ARC from NetGalley.

4.5

This was so fun! I haven't read the author's previous book, but this one was delicious (pun intended)! The combination of personalities was utterly delightful - Reggie was so funny, and Amelia was super relatable. Plus, what's a better concept than fake-dating a vampire??

While normally a trope I hate, the role miscommunication played in this book actually added to the fun of the story. Right off the bat, Reggie informs Amelia that he's a vampire and thinks they're good to go. Amelia, having met him first in a pink skirt and later reading a D&D magazine upside-down, understandably thinks he's joking. The hijinks and misunderstandings that follow? Ten outta ten.

I was so worried about the third act breakup, but it never came! Instead, these characters did what I always want characters to do: THEY COMMUNICATED! I know it bothers a lot of people, so let this set your minds at ease.

The only things that weren't 100% for me were 1) Reggie's internal monologue towards the end of the book as he comes to realize how much Amelia means to him. It was so abrupt and didn't feel true to his character, so kinda pulled me out of the story. 2) The plot line about Amelia's family not respecting her dietary needs was kind of dropped. Through the first half of the book, it was called our multiple times, and I expected there to be a moment when either Reggie or Amelia finally spoke up about it, but that moment never came.

Everything else worked for me so well! I was sending random quotes to my group chat throughout my reading experience, and it's been officially added to their TBRs as a result. I loved the characters. I loved the plot. I loved the humor and Reggie's really atrocious bullet journaling. I even loved the constant tax jokes, especially since all things revenue were so intriguing to Reggie. There's nothing hotter than a man who finds you fascinating.

I had such a good time. I will definitely be picking up more of Levine's work.

This one is just as great, if not better than the first My Roommate is a Vampire! I loved Reggie’s jokes and the banter! The collective was such a fun storyline! I had fun all the way through’

🦇 My Vampire Plus-One 🦇
Author: Jenna Levine
4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🦇 Thoughts: This was a cute and enjoyable fantasy/rom-com mash up! My minor critiques are that the plot was lacking, there wasn’t much depth and it was a bit stale. Additionally, I felt the romantic development between the MCs was too instant, they went from strangers to deeply in love in 0.5 seconds. But, I thought the characters were great! They had distinctive personalities and charisma! Reggie was one of the most unique mmcs I’ve experienced. He was eclectic, quirky, and humorous.

🦇 Synopsis: Amelia considers herself a boring CPA, who’s been single for a long time. In attempt to avoid family questioning and shame attending her cousins wedding dateless, she asks a stranger by the name of Reggie to be her date. Little does she know Reggie is a centuries old vampire wanted by an ancient vampiric organization for a crime he didn’t commit. As Amelia and Reggie spend more time together, feelings flourish and their relationship becomes more than complicated.

Fall is the season of Vampires, Witches, and other supernatural creatures. That’s just what Janna Levine chose to write about in ‘My Vampire Plus One.” The only thing is, what if the vampire has to pretend to be human so he doesn’t get captured by other vampires who are ready to capture him?

Amelia Collins is happy where she’s at. She loves her job and is OK with being single. What she’s not OK with is her family’s constant questioning of her dating life. When another family wedding invite appears, she decides she needs a date. The only problem is that now she has to find someone who will fake date her so she can get her family off her back.

Reginald Cleaves is a bit strange. He’s also on the run from a group of angry vampires for something he didn’t do so long ago that even history should have forgotten about it, but they haven’t. After a chance encounter with Amelia, he decided it would be fun to play the part but also give him something to worry about instead of the stake aimed at his back.

As Reggie and Amelia practice their fake romance, things between them heat up. But will she believe his secret of being a vampire pretending to be human, or will she run away forever?

This is the second installment of the ‘My Vampire’ series, but you could also read this as a stand-alone. I think that part of what I love about this book is that it could be read alone, but if you read them together, it gives a little bit of context to another background couple. Reggie is hilarious in this book. I love his flair and all the jokes he plays. His relationship with Fredrick is excellent and so funny! However, I found Amelia’s character, while open-minded, to be a bit too oblivious at times, particularly when it came to Reggie’s true nature, which bothered me. It’s worth the read, but it isn’t my favorite book of the year. It is a great fall read, though, so I recommend picking it up for that reason alone.

Read this if you like: Paranormal romance, fake dating, cinnamon roll mmc, forced proximity, spice

I loved this so much! It's so cute, funny, and spicy. The fake dating is done so well. I haven't read the first one, but will be. I highly recommend this book.

"Nothing sucks more than fake dating a vampire in this paranormal romantic comedy from the USA Today bestselling author of My Roommate Is a Vampire.

Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she's tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone - anyone - to pose as her date.

After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he's perfect for her purposes. He's a bit strange, but that's fine; it'll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.

As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia's first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic."

But what if the wedding is outside at noon?

If you're looking for a rom-com this is it, My Vampire Plus One is laugh-out-loud funny! If you read "My Roommate is a Vampire" you'll notice a familiar face in Reginald. With a few hilarious misunderstandings between Reginald and Amelia, an accountant who just needs to get out her shell a little bit, this book truly makes for a delightful read. Our main characters with a bit of angst, but not too much, this is such fun paranormal romance and if you've read "My Roommate is a Vampire" it really is a delightful follow up with a beloved side characters. And don't worry Cassie and Fredrick pop up too. I would also note that you don't need to read the previous novel to have a great time with this read but it could be helpful!

REGINALD!!!!!
From the moment I read book 1 I knew I needed a Reggie book and it didn’t disappoint. It was hilarious as only Reggie can be and so sweet, but also quite sexy? Reggie my dear I didn’t know you had it in you!
Love love this book.

I had so much fun with My Roommate is a Vampire last year. When I saw Reggie’s story would be the next one we got, I was so excited to dive back into this universe and have a front row seat to his shenanigans. Not only were we following this insane character, but we got to watch him try and fake date Amelia in an effort to fool her meddling family during her cousin’s wedding.

I had such a good time with this book. Reggie’s bullet journaling had me cracking up at several times throughout my reading. I love that the story doesn’t take itself too seriously. There aren’t any stereotypical vampire hunters, or vampires being staked, or some giant battle royale between historical and serious families. This is a fun story, with equally fun characters, a dash of love, and a whole lot of shenanigans. This is a great read for spooky season!

Many thanks to Berkley for the NetGalley digital review copy of this highly anticipated read!

My Vampire Plus-One is part of the My Vampires series, which began with the delightful My Roommate is a Vampire. This time, Frederick's frenemy Reginald is our romantic hero, and I am here for it.

My Vampire Plus-One Synopsis

My Vampire Plus-One follows Amelia, an accountant who loves her job, even when it's being the most. She's honestly pretty happy being single and hanging out with her cat, but her family has other thoughts. When yet another family wedding is announced, she panics at the thought of all those hints about her single status. So, she makes up a boyfriend. Only, then she has to find someone to pretend to be that guy for the wedding.

Who better for the job than Reginald Cleaves, who loves a good prank? After their brief run-in outside her office, Reginald is happy to take the job - especially when it might just help him evade the vampires who are after him.

My Vampire Plus-One Review

I had high hopes going into this one because I loved the first book in the series. Let me tell you - this book delivered!

A fake dating premise always gets me, and in this case, it was especially entertaining because Reginald was just so excited to play pretend. Every moment between these two is somehow laugh out loud funny and simmering with romantic tension. Truly, my husband had to scold me for laughing so much when I was taking a break reading at the farmer's market.

Even if some parts of the plot were a bit on the predictable side, it was an enjoyable ride from start to finish. The spice was spicy and, somehow, Levine pulls off making us see Reginald's sweet and loving side.

Amelia is a great character and I loved seeing how differently she handled the vampire boyfriend situation compared with Cassie. There's always a risk of female MCs being too similar in series like these, but Amelia definitely feels like her own person, and I enjoyed getting to know her. We got to see some peeks into what Frederick and Cassie are up to now, but they didn't take over the story, which I appreciated.

In all, this book is an instant favorite for the year. I highly recommend to anyone who had a Twilight phase (or still has one) or anyone who is looking for a good laugh with a side of spice.

My Vampire Plus-One comes out on September 17th, 2024.
