I wanted to like this one. I enjoy most vampire stories, and combining romance with vampires sounded like a can't-miss. But the storyline dragged on too long and was quite basic and the entire book ended up being something I forgot about entirely and had to skim to get through to write this review.
I wish there was more conflict. Everything just seemed so... basic and trite.

This is a fun but meh read.
It's a sequel to My Roomate is Vampire (which I liked but didn't love).
"Amelia Collins is by definition successful. She would even go so far as to say successfully single. But not according to her family, and she's tired of the constant questions about her nonexistent dating life. When an invitation to yet another family wedding arrives, she decides to get everyone off her back once and for all by finding someone--anyone--to pose as her date.
After a chance encounter with Reginald Cleaves, Amelia decides he's perfect for her purposes. He's a bit strange, but that’s fine; it'll discourage tough questions from her family. (And it certainly doesn't hurt that he's very handsome.) For centuries-old vampire Reggie, posing as her plus-one sounds like the ultimate fun. And if it helps his ruse of pretending to be human, so much the better.
As Amelia and Reggie practice their fauxmance, it becomes clear that Reggie is as loyal to her as the day is long, and that Amelia’s first impressions could not have been more wrong. Suddenly, being in a real relationship with Reggie sounds pretty fang-tastic."
I really LOVED Reginald. He's hilarious in this babe in a new world kind of way. Amelia is fine.
Overall they fell in love too fast and then the stakes in their romance aren't major. I mean yes he is a vampire-- but the climax/conflict is all boring and wrapped up quick.

Sequel to My Roommate Is a Vampire. (If this series has a name, I can't find it.)
4.5 stars
Now, I do have to preface by saying that I read and really enjoyed reading My Roommate is a Vampire, however this can easily be read as a standalone. While I enjoyed the previous book, I am absolutely head over heels in love this one!! Reginald (Reggie) was a very fun side character and when I found out he was getting his own book I was ecstatic! And I have to say that this did not disappoint!! I devoured this book! Reggie and Amelia are adorable together! The gooey cinnamon roll that Reggie was and how attentive and utterly charming he was?! Everyone deserves a Reggie!! He should be the gold-standard of partner goals. And the ending??!! It was interesting, fun, and cute!! I CANNOT WAIT for the next book in this series!! There seems to be a hint about who one of the characters could be at the end of the book. :)
Now, there were two tiny things that kept me from giving this book a full five-stars (although I'm going ahead and rounding it up to 5) was that the book felt like it started to drag around the 70% mark (especially since the trip felt like it was missing something). And there was (at least in the ARC) only a single love scene... and it was short. After all the buildup and romantic tension, it felt like a letdown.
One last thing, and this has nothing to do with the author's writing/anything within the author's control. The ebook ARC I read, at the beginning of most of the chapters had italics referencing what the small little section pertained to (because there were cute excerpts of things at the beginning of most of the chapters). Well, the italics were so light grey it was extremely hard to read (and no I don't have any eye issues/wear glasses/reading glasses/contacts). This has to do with the formatting of the book into ebook. I'm sure in the physical copy it will be easy to read, but it was difficult to read on the ebook. Hopefully that's something that can easily get fixed.

Fun-loving trickster vampire Reginald is all about the chaos, fun, and potential to hide from a cranky vampire council trying to hunt him down by agreeing to be accountant Amelia's fake date to her cousin's wedding.
She happens to also be connected to his vampire bestie's human girlfriend, and does what he thinks is best: telling Amelia from the beginning that he's a vampire so it's not all drawn out and annoying like SOME VAMPIRES DID.
And when she takes it well, he is relieved and feels great! If baffled that she's taking it almost too well?
Amelia takes Reginald calling himself a trickster to heart, and is amused of his vampire jokes, but there sure is something odd about him.
The pacing, relationship, and fun to be had in this vampire romance is great and I would love if someone else finds it to be list worthy.

Title: My Vampire Plus-One
Author: Jenna Levine
Rating: 3/5
"My Vampire Plus-One" by Jenna Levine is a delightful and whimsical paranormal romance that brings a fresh twist to the fake-dating trope, blending humor, heart, and a dash of supernatural charm.
Amelia Collins is a successful, independent woman, perfectly content with her single status—until her family's relentless questions about her love life push her to find a date for yet another family wedding. Enter Reginald Cleaves, a centuries-old vampire with a mysterious allure and an uncanny knack for blending in with humans. When Amelia enlists Reggie to be her plus-one, she has no idea just how much her life is about to change.
Levine's storytelling is engaging and fun, with a lighthearted tone that makes the novel a joy to read. Amelia is a relatable protagonist, and her initial impressions of Reggie provide plenty of humor and awkward moments as they navigate their fauxmance. Reggie, on the other hand, is a charming and enigmatic character whose loyalty and sincerity quickly win over both Amelia and the reader.
The chemistry between Amelia and Reggie is palpable from the start, and as they practice their fake relationship, their genuine connection begins to shine through. Levine does an excellent job of developing their relationship, balancing moments of levity with deeper emotional beats that add depth to the story.
One of the highlights of "My Vampire Plus-One" is how it subverts expectations. Reggie's vampiric nature and Amelia's initial misconceptions lead to numerous amusing and heartwarming moments, while the evolution of their relationship feels natural and satisfying. The novel also explores themes of acceptance and finding love in unexpected places, making it more than just a lighthearted romance.
The supporting characters, particularly Amelia's family, add another layer of humor and authenticity to the story. Their interactions and reactions to Reggie provide additional comic relief and help to flesh out the world in which Amelia and Reggie live.
In conclusion, "My Vampire Plus-One" is a fang-tastic read that will leave readers smiling and swooning. Jenna Levine has crafted a charming and entertaining romance that successfully blends the paranormal with the everyday, resulting in a story that is both unique and heartwarming. Fans of paranormal romance and contemporary love stories alike will find much to enjoy in this delightful novel.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for the opportunity to review this ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I read My Roommate is a Vampire a few months ago and rated it 3.5/5 stars. The first book is cute and cheesy, definitely heavy handed at times, but let me say that I liked the romance in this book even more. It is absolutely ridiculous and cute, and it is a fast and easy read. Would recommend to fans of rom coms who want to read a silly, wild, and cheesy vampire romance.
General Tropes/themes:
- Paranormal romance
- Vampire/human
- Fake dating
- Rom com energy
- Family drama
This is the story of Reginald, a vampire, and Amelia, an accountant falling in love. They are really cute together and I enjoyed reading about this story. The first half of this book was my favorite part because it was just cute and funny and I liked the way tension was developed.
My biggest critique of this book is that I really wanted more backstory from Reginald. He is apparently a total prankster but we get so little of his history. I still enjoyed the book but I was not as into the book as I had wanted to be! Reggie also has a… unique sense of style? It just seemed to not connect with the whole “I am a very old vampire” vibe, so I really want more of that history. He just needed more depth, but what I saw I did enjoy. I also wanted more world building, but this was something I felt in book 1 too!
Overall I would recommend it; it is a super cute/fast read!
---- Spoiler below but it has to be said. ----
Not to criticize any profession, but fighting bad guys with accounting just did not do it for me. I feel like I just needed more at the end to cinch it as a love.

Sequels are rarely as good as the first one, but this one exceeded all my expectations.
Laughed, cried, swooned and picked up bullet journaling all in one day because of My Vampire Plus One.
It has a good mix of bizarre vampire behavior and an internal wtf moments from our human characters. Honestly, I’m just as confused by taxes as our vampires are so the ending didn’t surprise me at all.
The romance between Amelia and Reggie is good. You can slowly tell how desperately in love they are and my face literally hurts from smiling so much. Also, loved seeing a Cassie x Frederick ARC for those who read My Roommate is a Vampire 👀
9/10, would definitely recommend as a fun palette cleanser!
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley Pub for providing me an eARC 💖

Thank you eternally to @berkleyromance for the opportunity to read an e-ARC of My Vampire Plus-One!
I was so excited to read this one because I fell head over heels in love with Reginald after reading My Roommate is a Vampire. I thought he was so funny and desperately needed him to have his own moment to shine and find his forever love.
And he sure did. In the best way. Amelia was such a headstrong character and I loved how different she was from Reggie. Definitely someone who is more logical, with her feet firmly on the ground.
But maybe it was all too nicely done? I know sometimes we all have a need for a nice, comfort read but there’s no harm in having some conflict right? I feel like there was really no backlash to the discovery of Reggie being a vampire or that he was “fugitive”. I mean, overall it was resolved so easily and it was kind of a letdown.
It was still an enjoyable and adorable read and if you’re in the market for something fluffy and romantic - look no further! 💕

TY for the free book @berkleyromance @netgalley #berkleypartner #berkleybooks !!
I read @jennalevinewrites My Roommate is a Vampire and fell on my ass for Reggie and his dramatic flamboyance - so when the #berkleyinfluencer program offered My Vampire Plus One for an early read you better believe I slammed that download button as fast as my thumb could move, it’s a noble and nimble digit.
Fake dating! ✅ Overworked and super competent woman character? ✅ VAMPIRE CLASS CLOWN? ✅ Reggie shows up in some kind of skirt ensamble and a fedora, literally bumping Amelia’s accounting documents into a puddle, earning the moniker Fedora Asshole from Amelia. But he’s kind of hot, for a Dirtbag Chris Pine type, so it’s fortuitous that Amelia finds him in a coffee shop (the one with the hilariously named pretentious drinks) later and he owes her a favor for damaging her documents.
What is the fabric you might ask? Pretending to be Amelia’s date to a family wedding, when Amelia’s whole family believes she needs a man to be happy, in hopes of getting them off her back. Reggie is in, for the fun of it, but also to hide from a group of Vampire Vigilantes who might want him 🪦.
Reggie, determined to do the Right Thing, thinks he tells Amelia immediately that he is a vampire. While Amelia hears him she doesn’t really HEAR him, so we’ve got some misunderstandings afoot, and reader, I lol’ed.
This book is spicier 🌶️ than the first, which I appreciated, only because if your character is a vampire, there should be a basic metric of necessary horniness. Them’s the rules, you know?
Amelia and Reggie didn’t let me down, I laughed, I did not cry but I did enjoy thoroughly, and if you wanted to check in on Frederick and Cassie and Cassie’s garbage adjacent art, there’s plenty of opportunity to do so. (FWIW Cassie being the first Jewish almost spouse to a vampire is pretty cool - but I digress).
This is out in September, just in time for espooky eseason. 🧛🏻♂️🧛🏻♀️🧛

Thank you to Net Galley for an Advanced Reader Copy of My Vampire Plus-One. My Roommate is a Vampire is one of my top reads for this year and I was so excited to read this one! It definitely met my expectations and I loved every second of it. I love the authors writing and I love these characters!

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!
This was fun! I'm enjoying the comeback of vampire novels, and how this was handled was fun and fresh for the genre.

My roommate is a vampire was one of my favorite reads last year... As far as my vampire plus one goes it TOPS IT. This book made me laugh so hard I had tears, I was kicking my feet giggling at the romance between Reginald and Amelia. This book was goofy and wholesome and I couldn't get enough. I love Reginald so much, I loved him in the first book but I loved getting to know him and his crazy personality.

I was so honored and excited to get this ARC. The first book in this series was one of my absolute favorites! The first book and this book are now an obsession. If you liked the first book then you will love this book as well. This is the continued story of the Vampire and two mortal friend group, but this time around it is Reggie's turn to fall in love with a human and deal with the vampire counsel drama. I love how emotionally open Reggie is in this book and how Amelia is so guarded but eventually warms up to him. This book has the same awkward comedy and banter in it as well. This book the author cleaned out a lot of fluff this time around which was nice. The historical references were pure gold.
While introducing a chapter the author also happens to include snippets from the Vampire counsel newsletter, the texts btwn all the characters, and journal entries which all contribute to the story. It is very well organized writing as well. I love how this book got to the problem/incident without dragging it on this time. When it comes to the romance writing in this book the author REALLY stepped it up compared to last night. Still not completely filthy, but there's dirt. She also really great at building the sexual tension, AND EXTRA PERKS TO THE AUTHOR FOR INCLUDING MULTIPLE TALKS ABOUT CONSENT!!!!! Overall I am obsessed with this series and writer and cannot wait for a third book (please?).

Fake dating a vampire never looked so good! Reginald is the cutest 😍
~ Amelia is in desperate need of a fake boyfriend for her cousins upcoming wedding. One more comment about her workaholic ways and nonexistent dating life will send her over the edge. Reginald seems a little strange but so far he’s her best option. It’s not like she plans to see him after the wedding anyway. ~
This is definitely one of my favorite reads in 2024! The humor, the back and forth, the vulnerability.. there’s so much to this book AND their romance, I loved every second.
I only wish there was a long ass epilogue a few years down the line because I’d love to see where they end up 😍
Can’t wait for more from this author!

Thank you to the author, Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for giving me the chance to read an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

As soon as I heard that this book was coming out, I had to have it immediately. I was so excited for Reginald, the chaotic funny guy from My Roommate is a Vampire, to get his own book! And GIRL this delivered! I loved it so much, even better than the first. It was a totally ridiculous romp and a grand old silly goofy time. I'll be laughing about Reginald finding a cardboard cutout of Count von Count from Sesame Street in his apartment as a threat for a while. Plus, I am an absolute sucker for the fake dating trope. Hits every time. The PINING. And this man was an absolute SIMP. Down astronomically bad, and I ate it up. Perfect palette-cleanser romance novel. Thank you so much Jenna Levine I will be gobbling up everything you write in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the eARC.

My Vampire Plus -One is the latest by Jenna Levine. If you are familiar with My Roommate is a Vampire, then you might remember Reginald. This time we get to know him and his eccentric fun self. If you haven’t read it, do not worry as this can be read as a stand alone. Cassie and Frederick do make appearances, but this story is all about Reggie and Amelia and their fake dating.
Amelia seems to be the only single person in her family and with another cousin getting married and the pressure from her mom to not be single, Amelia decides at a family dinner to announce she in fact does have a boyfriend and a plus one for the upcoming wedding. The problem… it’s a lie and now she must find someone to go along with her on this fake dating scheme. That is where Reggie comes in who has a problem of his own. He has a group after him, and this fake dating scheme might just be a solution to get them off his tracks.
While I did enjoy the first book, this sequel is so much more fun. I absolutely loved Reggie. He is not clueless to the technology of today and doesn’t come off as helpless which I felt Fredrick was in the prior book. This really had me rooting for him through the book. He is very in tune with his feelings and what he wants as he keeps a daily bullet journal and also talks regularly on a discord to get advice which I loved!
If you loved My Roommate is a Vampire then I’m positive you will love My Vampire Plus- One even more!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
This book releases on Sept 17th which is the perfect time to read it and get ready for spooky season without the scares.
Special thanks to Berkeley Publishing and NetGalley for this advance reader copy. All opinions are mine.

Thank you SO MUCH to Berkley and NetGalley for allowing me to ARC read My Vampire Plus-One!
This book was the cutest, most fun little Rom-Com. I enjoyed this one even more than the first! Fake dating between a very serious FMC and the MOST unserious MMC was already a winner of a concept and it did not disappoint. I love Reggie. His journal entries were so entertaining. The banter between these two was *chef's kiss*. It was a fast paced, the relationship chemistry really worked for me and the backstory/world was easy to understand and believable. Over all if you like paranormal rom/coms along the lines of Juliette Cross- Stay a Spell, I highly recommend this series.

This was very cute! This book follows Reginald, or Reggie who we met during the first book of Levine’s vampire books. The thing I love about Levine’s books in general, is that while there are vampires, it’s also just a super light and fun read! Reggie and Amelia are super cute and it’s fake dating fun with a supernatural twist! Overall, I think I did prefer Frederick and Cassie slightly better, because I liked the grumpy old-fashioned Frederick. That to say, this was still super fun and a great read!

This story is a delight from start to finish. Pairs nicely with the first book. I can't wait to see what other stories this author creates.
