So excited that I received an ARC of this novel after how much I adored “My Roommate is a Vampire!” And once again, I received endless serotonin and giggles. I knew I was going to devour Reginald’s love story and it absolutely delivered for me! And the cover😍
Reginald and Amelia fall into a fake dating arrangement that seems mutually beneficial - Amelia needs to get her family out of her love life and Reginald needs to avoid the Vampire society tracking him down. What they don’t expect is their immediate chemistry and understanding of each other.
Reginald’s characterization is so outrageous in the best way. You would expect Vampires who are hundreds of years old to be brooding and cold, but that’s not what Levine delivers. He has an outlandish fashion sense and he bullet journals!! I love their dynamic so much. I completely recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and unique read.
Thank you Berkley Romance for the advanced copy.
Arc review: 4.75 ⭐️
UGH I JUST LOVE THIS SERIES. The whimsy! The absolutely ridiculous MMC that I just can’t help but love! The “talk tax to me baby” accounting dirty talk 🤣
And you know- there is a surprising bit of SPICE and tension to cut through the humor too. I’m just in such a good mood after reading this!
Cinnamon Bun Vampire Hero - Check
Sassy, single girl needing a date to a wedding - Check
Delightfully zany side characters that make you giggle snort - Check
Slow burn romance with some real satisfying sexy times - Check...well double check :)
Sweet, cute story that reads quickly and has delightful characters, slow burn romance, and great side characters. This book is the second in the series so be aware that the first book explains things a wee bit better, so if anything is confusing in this story, absolutely check out the first one.
At points I was laughing so hard that I was crying. This was such a good read. I want to go back and re-read it as if it was my first time reading this.
Amelia is looking to get her family off her back regarding her dating life- or well, lack of a dating life. To do this, she invites Reginald to some family events, hoping to get her family off her back. Reginald is the worst person she could find….but….he’s not actually a person though….he’s a vampire, who dresses crazy, is arrogant and rude.
Turn’s out that he is the perfect candidate for a partner.
Now I need to go read My Roommate is a Vampire.
*Thank you, Net Galley, for this ARC. I am leaving an honest and voluntary review*
Amelia has a family wedding to attend and she is dreading it. Everyone is going to be asking why she is still single and will suck the fun out of it for her. She likes her accounting job and long hours. Until she runs into Reginald. (Remember him from book 1, My Roommate Is A Vampire?) Her and Reggie literally run into each other on the street. She felt the weird instant chemistry too and he told her he owes her one because he was trying to stay hidden from someone.
At the coffee shop, who does she run into but Reggie. Small world. She decides to claim the I owe you one. She tells Reggie he needs to be her fake date for the wedding and festivities leading up to the wedding. Reggie consults Frederick for some help with clothing and thinks he can actually pull this off. In a getting to know you phone call Amelia jokingly says something about being a vampire and Reggie is so relieved she knows what he is. The joking part went right over his head.
From that point forward in the story it's get wild. Reggie is on the run, Amelia's family is barely tolerable, and the truth of everything starts to come to light. Reggie's people that are hunting him are actually Amelia's client and they come up with what they think is a foolproof plan to get them to stop.
This book was just perfect. Fake dating, tons of chemistry between main characters, and definitely a page turner! If you loved My Roommate Is A Vampire, you will fall in love instantly with this book too. I love that you get little updates too on all the people from book 1.
Thank you to @netgalley, @berkleypub, and @jennalevinewrites for my copy to review in exchange for my honest opinion. I absolutely adored this fast paced novel!

My Vampire Plus-One is part of a series (preceded by My Roommate is a Vampire) that can be read as a standalone - and should definitely be picked up. I’ve previously purchased My Roommate is a Vampire but haven’t gotten around to reading it, and I’m so glad I did because I’m definitely going back to it.
The vampire in this story is Reginald, or Reggie, a bit of a troublemaker vampire trying to hide from a shady vampire organization called The Collective who believe he is to blame for some past events. Amelia, on the other hand, is a regular human accountant who is constantly under pressure by her family to have a partner. When Reggie owes Amelia a favor and Amelia decides to cash in for a fake boyfriend leading up to her cousin’s wedding, it’s not quite clear what she’s getting herself into.
I love Reggie and how he helped Amelia let loose a bit over time. In general the whole ‘vampire tries to hide he’s a vampire from the people he’s around but also is adorably charmed by what he discovers’ was such a great concept to explore, and done well in this story. While the storylines progression is fairly simple (in a book about vampires I know that’s a little puzzling but I mean the events that move the plot forward), this is a well done story that’s entertaining and has some adorable characters. I’d definitely recommend it!
This still needs line editing and copy editing. I noticed a bunch of small errors. It kept kicking me out of the story. I just wasn’t having fun myself and stopped at the end of chapter 3 (10%). Of course, I’m sure they’ll be fixed before it is published. The actual content, I was having fun with.
I’m guessing this will be the same 3-4 star range as book 1. Pacing-wise, prose-wise, vibe-wise, it feels the same.
Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for the ARC.
Amelia Collins is fed up with the constant inquiries about her nonexistent dating life, prompting her to take drastic measures by enlisting the help of the most unsuitable candidate, Reginald Cleaves, to pose as her date at a family wedding. Reginald, despite his striking good looks, possesses qualities that make him the perfect candidate for the role: he is rude, arrogantly infuriating, and dresses in a manner that defies all fashion norms. The wedding date unfolds in a series of disastrous events, with Reginald's antics leaving everyone, including Amelia, appalled. Surprisingly, Reginald's revelation of being a vampire fails to deter Amelia, who sees an opportunity to utilize his unconventional behavior to her advantage. As they continue attending events together, an unexpected connection begins to form between them, blurring the lines between love and hate.
This was such a fun and quick read! I can't wait to see what the author dies next!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!
My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine is an uproarious follow-up to My Vampire Roommate that had me in stitches from beginning to end. This novel approaches the supernatural with a playful touch, effortlessly blending humor and romance. I suggest reading the first book beforehand to fully appreciate this one.
Thank you @berkleypub and @neygalley for the eARC of My Vampire Plus-One by @jennalevinewrites in exchange for an honest review!
📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 I missed the first book in this series, My Roommate is a Vampire, but this one stands alone perfectly and I will absolutely be going back to indulge! Even though Amelia is content with her quiet life most of the time, she feels the pressure to have a date to her cousin’s wedding. So begins this adorable fake-dating rom com that you will not want to put down.
Amelia and Reginald are the epitome of opposites attract, she’s an organized accountant and he’s a bit eccentric. Amelia is so worried about the red flags in this fake wedding date scenario that she misses the big one that Reggie is a vampire. My Vampire Plus-One is comedy gold; the concept of it all is hilariously absurd but boy does it work!!! I was laughing out loud reading this book (I NEVER do that) and reading excerpts to my husband and I devoured this book with no apologies!
Review is posted in Goodreads and will be on Instagram ahead of the publication date!
My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine is a hilarious sequel to My Vampire Roommate that kept me laughing throughout. This book takes a light-hearted approach to the supernatural, blending humor and romance effortlessly. I recommend making sure you have read the first novel before reading this one.
One of the surprises of this book was how perfect Reginald's character turned out to be. In the previous book, he stood out, but I never expected him to become my next book boyfriend. Yet, in My Vampire Plus One, he shines even brighter. Reginald's charm, wit, and chaotic nature make him utterly lovable, and his chemistry with the rule-following accountant is undeniable. Their interactions are filled with witty banter and that found myself rooting for them every step of the way, despite the absurdity of their circumstances.
Levine's writing style is engaging and witty, with a perfect balance of humor and romance. Overall, My Vampire Plus One is a delightful read for fans of supernatural romcoms, offering plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.
Jenna Levine is an amazing writer. Somehow I love these quirky vampires and all their weirdness. Because come on, of course you're going to be weird and carry over your horrible fashion sense if you're 100+ years old. This was a PERFECT book 2 and I definitely look forward to many more from Jenna!
If you’re a romance reader, there is absolutely no way you’re going to be able to resist picking up a copy of My Vampire Plus-One, specifically based on the adorable title and that hot cover alone! Come for the cover, stay for the mash-up of this perfect blend for a unique and fresh vampiric romcom! Levine really outdid themselves with this one. So loved it.
