Did Jenna Levine just become an auto-buy author to me? Probably. My Vampire Plus-One made me laugh out loud, an accomplishment not many books have achieved!

The dynamic between Reggie (a slightly deranged vampire) and Amelia is endearing, sexy and funny. Reggie is the kind of man who would kiss the floor you walk on, and who doesn't love a golden retriever? There is spice in this book, but mostly only hook ups. There's one or two sex scenes and they're well executed. I've never been into vampires but well, one wonders. 😶‍🌫️

Is this a standalone? Yes! You don't need to read My Roommate is a Vampire to understand this book (in fact, I didn't). Reggie and Amelia are friends with book 1's MCs though, so I suspect it will be the more gratifying of you read both books. My Roommate is a Vampire is definitely in my TBR now!

I ended up DNFing this one. Book one was fun and I was interested to see how Jenna would turn Reginald into a love interest. Unfortunately I dont think they were interesting enough to keep me tuned in.

Another fun read! This is book two. She’s a CPA and needs a date to a wedding. He goes with her and right off the bat (hehe 🦇) tells her he’s a vampire but she doesn’t take it seriously. He’s a history nerd. And is so considerate of her diet. Please. 🥹💕 there were times the MMC felt really odd and forced. Because this was not a life changing book - it was still a fun and adequate read, I’m rating it 3.5 stars. Will continue reading by this author.

Even though I didn't like this one as much as My Roommate is a vampire as I didn't really care for Reginald as a character in that one. I did still find this one hilarious. As Amelia is a character that most of us single women in our 3os can relate to. As we've all heard similar things from family members before.

Such a fun twist on the classic vampire trope, blending romance, humor, and a touch of supernatural spice. It definitely provided a fresh take on vampire lore while incorporating modern elements that make the story feel current.

While the stakes are relatively low (no pun intended), the charm and humor make up for it. The witty dialogue and playful interactions kept me interested much in the same way as the first book MY ROOMMATE IS A VAMPIRE. Speaking of which, I loved getting to see snippets of Freddy (my fellow Swifitie) and Cassie throughout this book!

With that being said, there were moments where the pacing lagged, especially in the first half, which took away from the overall momentum. I was very glad for the Dual POV throughout as it kept me engaged and eager to keep reading!!

Read if you 🤍:
Quirky Characters
Slow Burn
Dual POV
Fake Dating
Forced Proximity

Truthfully this was a "did not finish' read for me. I did not get overly far into the book because it was just aggressively millennial. This is not an insult, it just didn't make it a good fit for me personally. I probably would still not choose to recommend it based on the fact that there are other romance novels I'd be more eager to recommend.

A swell follow-up to 'My Roommate is a Vampire' with all the loveable characters and cheeky writing we've come to expect from Jenna Levine. If fake-dating is your trope, this one's for you.

Jenna Levine’s vampire series so far has been wonderfully quirky and fun. I think it’s a great read for Halloween season/Fall, especially for those who like light fantasy & just want to have a good time! It’s also acts as a great palette cleanser! The humor and writing mesh well together, and overall I just had a great time.

I absolutely adore this series. Rom-com plus vampires...Sold! My Vampire Plus-One is such a fun read and gives us a chance to get to know Reggie better. He is such a cinnamon roll MMC. I loved his interactions with the serious FMC, Amelia, and how he was able to bring out her fun side. I really enjoyed this one and cannot wait for the next.

This is a paranormal romance with fake dating. It was quite quirky but still an enjoyable read, the spicy in this was just three chilies.

Thank you for the arc!
I DEVOURED this book!! Reginald and Amelia delighted me. This is honestly the only time miscommunication didn’t bug me- I wouldn’t believe him either. I think Jenna Levine also really improved her plot structure compared to the last one; the conflict resolution was much better. Reginald was a perfect romantic lead. Can’t wait for the next one!

“His next words sounded almost pained, as though they were being pulled from him against his will. ‘The truth is, I quite like making you happy.’ He shook is head. ‘I’m frightened to think too much about what that means, because I honestly can’t remember the last time I wanted to do anything for another person, simply for its own sake. And without having an ulterior motive.’ His eyes, when they met mine, were so intense I had to look away. ‘But for you, I would brave a blizzard just to see you smile.’ With his words, something melted inside of me. Sophie’s advice from yesterday – to stop fighting it if something real happened between us – floated into my mind. I was terrible at spur-of-the-moment anything, and from the beginning nothing about my arrangement with Reggie had been planned. But would a short-term good time, as Sophie had put it, be such a terrible thing? Or even something more? I would brave a blizzard to see you smile. I might have been an accountant, but I wasn’t made of stone.

Amelia Collins’ life is normal, boring, and exactly as she likes it. She is averse to taking risks and just wants to live an uncomplicated existence. When she is almost run down by Reginald Cleaves, her whole life takes an unexpected turn. He is a whirlwind in every way, but when she needs a fake wedding date, he seems like the perfect partner in crime.

Spooky season is upon us, and this was such a fun beginning to some cozy fall reads. When I think of vampires, I tend to think dark and alpha with the manners of a historical romance hero, but Reggie was unique. He was silly, sweet, and a little bit over the top. At first, I wasn’t sold on his personality just because of what I was expecting and wanting, but he grew on me. I think he was a nice contrast to Amelia who was very sedate and quiet. He forced her to have fun which she was sorely lacking in her life, and cared enough to make sure she always had something she could eat with her dietary restrictions.

Frederick was a fun side character, and I’m curious enough to read his and Cassie’s story. There were some things that kept me from giving this a higher rating. As much as I loved Reggie’s goofiness, I wonder how he is able to survive in the world. He seems so oblivious and clueless sometimes. I didn’t mind The Collective, but I thought that plotline was overdone and maybe took away some of the relationship-building. This was not perfect, but it was a fun ride. I would highly recommend!

If you’re a fan of supernatural heroes like those of Kresley Cole or Ruby Dixon, then I think this would be a charming Halloween read!

Cute with a side of cozy. If you're looking for a fun little vampire romance, this is exactly that. It was just a little too on the side of silly for me to love it.

✨ Review ✨ My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine; Narrated by: Daniel Henning, Helen Laser

Thanks to Berkley, PRHAudio and #netgalley for the gifted advanced copy/ies of this book!

Amelia's an accountant and pairs stiffness and a bit of chaos, and she literally bumps into Reginald Cleaves, a centuries-old vampire in the street, and then again in a bar, and decides it's a perfect opportunity to set up an 'ol fake dating relationship to masquerade how her life is put together for her parents. Reggie is hiding from a mob of vampire leaders, and so this provides him the perfect chance to be a little under the radar. (Nothing about Reggie is ever "under the radar" though).

This one was just a ton of fun to read -- all of it just felt a bit silly, but in the best sort of way. Reggie's terrible at fitting in, but also in some ways, Amelia's a terrible actor, and so they fit together in a really delightful way. The whole "misunderstanding" piece of the story made me laugh, and you have to experience it on your own!

If you want a vampire read for spooky season that's not really that spooky, this is a great pick!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: contemporary romance, paranormal romance
Length: 10 hrs and 3 mins

Pub Date: Sept 17, 2024

Read this if you like:

I absolutely enjoyed every bit of this one. Angela and Reginald take romance is hysterical. They are fun and just a joy to watch their relationship develop. I think I lined this one even more than the first one!

Well, Jenna Levine has done it again. I really enjoyed the first book in this interconnected world, so I was super excited to pick up My Vampire Plus-One. I am happy to report that this one hit in just the right way. Dare I say, I may have even liked it just a little bit more than the first, and that rarely happens for me.

Reginald and Amelia were perfection. I was SO happy to see Reginald get his moment. He was a side character I loved in My Roommate is a Vampire and seeing his story unfold was well worth the wait. He’s eccentric. He’s come into his own over the many years he has been alive. Oh, and he is being hunted by a vigilante Vampire group for a crime he didn’t commit. I swooned. I laughed out loud. I also loved seeing that bad guys in this story get taken down in the best way possible.

Things I LOVED in this story:

-Getting to check in on Frederick and Cassie! I forgot how much I loved them as well
-The PERFECT amount of well-placed spice
-Reginald’s sense of fashion
-Reginald’s Bullet Journaling
-Amelia taking down the forces of evil at the speed of federal tax laws
-So many sweet, swoon worthy moments between these two

Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC

What a fun and sweet romance. I loved the dry and sarcastic humor in this book. Some of the jokes made me laugh out loud, which is rare for me. Reggie was such a charming guy with quirky little characteristics that made him fun to read. I think this was a step up from My Roommate Is A Vampire. I was also happy to find out that this is connected to that book, so we got to see some characters we met in book 1. I will gladly read any future books in this series.

Amelia Collins is an Accountant, A CPA to be accurate, and she likes her job. No one really believes her though, even if it's true. She's tired of her family badgering her about her love life, so when a family wedding invite arrives and a chance encounter with a very dashing Reginald Cleaves happen, Amelia makes a plan and Reginald quickly agrees. Fake dating for both their benefit. What happens though when real love comes into the picture?

I adored My Roommate is a Vampire, so I was all in for this book. It was so cute and lovely. I love a good fake dating story and a MMC with a filthy vocabulary, swoon. The spice was well done, the hilarious moments were truly funny, and much like the first book it has emails, texts and letters if that's your thing. Well done and I look forward to more.

It's super cheesy and just adorable. Sometimes you need low stakes vampire romances. Reggie was a fun lead. Amelia was all business. The fake dating didn't really work for me. The tension was never there but overall it's fun. Didn't hate that I read it.
