Such a cute, fun, ridiculous romcom! I freaking love Reggie & can totally see how Amelia would assume the things he says are all jokes. Their dynamic is so entertaining and despite being a complete goof and also technically a *dangerous* vampire, Reggie is so soft and charming -- a complete cinnamon roll -- and it's sweet to see how he makes Amelia laugh and helps her break out of her serious accountant mold. And he LOVES that she's an accountant, like it boosts his attraction, and I just find that hilarious and adorable. The inclusion of excerpts from Reggie's bullet lists added to the humor and lightheartedness of the story and was a fun way to transition to different scenes. This one took miscommunication and made it a trope I actually enjoyed?? Unheard of. The overall layout of the book, the plot, and the writing are fantastic. The characters are easy to love and it's a very quick read that I truly enjoyed.

Reggie was a delightful addition to the first book in this series and it was fun to see him get his own story. I wasn’t expecting Amelia, but she was the perfect foil for the happy-go-lucky vampire. I fully enjoyed this series and can’t wait to see if there is another installment.

IM A SUCKER FOR A VAMPIRE BOOK OKAY SUE ME?! This was just so fun from beginning to end - give me paranormal and I’m hooked but give me vampires and I’m a goner.

First - the cover? Hi. Let’s talk about it. Exceptional. Marvelous. Two tone. Wonder.

I’m a sucker for diary/letter entries (because it screams Dracula) so I was so happy to see that here. I’m usually a little iffy on fake dating plots but this was just pure fun. And I’m a huge fan of Amelia’s badass career driven spirit.

This was even better than the first book! Jenna Levine writes such charming characters and truly had me laughing out loud. There is just something so endearing about the vampires in her books, almost a naivete. And I knew that Reggie was going to be quirky and hilarious because of his appearances in the first book, but him falling for a type A account was just TOO perfect. Reggie was the perfect balance for someone like Amelia.

I also loved more of the dual POV in this book!!

I think the side plot was also better executed in this one than the first and I'm in love.

Reggie absolutely peaked my interest in the first book so I was excited for his story! And he was even better as the lead! I love Reggie. He is so eccentric and quirky and amazing. He’s like the hot vampire equivalent of Arthur Weasley with his joy in learning and all things human. Amelia is the most clueless person ever. I just didn’t get how oblivious she was to all things vampire, especially when Reggie was so upfront about it. But while the miscommunication frustrated me I still thought this book was cute and fun and a good spooky season read for those who don’t do scary stuff.

My Vampires Book #2

When I found out there was a sequel coming out to a debut romance that I loved in 2023, I was so excited! And I was even happier to be invited to do a blog tour for this book by Berkley Romance!

My Vampire Plus-One has been out for less than a month, but of course a hurricane would keep me from getting to this book ASAP, but once I really got started on this book I was flying through it.

One thing to note is that I didn’t like this one as much as the first book. Amelia and Reggie’s story is still very enjoyable, but I really fell in love with Cassie and Frederick in the first book. And I love that we still get peaks into where they are in this book, although I am not sure how much time has passed between book one and this book.

Something I noticed across both books is that while these books are full of cheesy vampire shenanigans that are silly and fun, Jenna Levine really writes an amazing sex scene. The scene in this book was steamy, but I loved it. And Reggie is such a golden retriever character. I really liked that we got a deeper look at him with his own book. It did seem like the stakes in this book were a bit higher than the last, especially when we were getting to the climax of the book and guess what? No third act breakup!

If you’re looking for a chill paranormal romance for Halloween season, I recommend turning to this duology. Vampires for Halloween, but make it fun, cheesy, and romantic. Overall, I am giving this book 4 stars. I have no idea what Jenna Levine has in store for us next, but I will be there for it!

I adored the first book but didn’t end up really enjoying this one as much. I just felt like I wasn’t really invested in it. It feels like this didn’t really need to happen which is such a shame since the first book was so cute. This one seemed to be written around the fake dating trope without really having enough meat to support the trope.

I’ll still keep an eye out for Jenna’s other books even if this one didn’t really work for me!

I had fun with this one. We love a fake dating trope! Fun with fashion and really liked the chemistry between Reggie and Amelia.

But there’s something about Reggie that she can’t deny, and he certainly becomes more attached—and less jokey—as they spend more and more time together.

Although Amelia wants to take things slow with Reggie—a guy she just met and will only be “together” with until after her cousin’s wedding—but her hormones aren’t letting her keep him at an arm’s length. Reggie’s all for taking things to the next step, but he’s also a considerate, caring human being vampire who wants to make sure Amelia’s as into it as he is.

Amelia can often get too wrapped up in her own head and her own insecurities. But she finally lets loose with Reggie—even though she still finds a way to overthink things.

I absolutely loved the role reversal in My Vampire Plus-One. Instead of Amelia being the Twilight fan and having deeply buried fantasies of a certain sparkly vampire that get made real with her relationship with Reggie, it’s Reggie who adores the oldest Cullen.

Was it Good For You? Turn Me
Any book in which an actual vampire confesses his love for Edward Cullen is a book that I know I’m going to enjoy. Levine’s characters are relatable and believable, and her story is delightfully quirkly—both the characters and story fall just inside the line of too farcical to be a good read. I didn’t know this was a companion book to her My Roommate’s A Vampire, but I definitely plan on going back and reading that one to enjoy more of her world.

This book was so cute! Absolutely perfect for October. The two main charcters were so fun and I hope the author keeps adding books to this series!

Levine writes silly goofy rom-coms with humans and vampires. It seems as though this one is the end of a duology but both of the entries are a fun time with a solid steamy scene when it finally hits about 70% through. Amelia is a practical CPA from a family that is much more history/writing centered and they also seem to not take anything about her seriously. They don't even care about her dietary preferences when choosing dinner locations. Reggie is Frederick's vampire friend from the first book with Cassie and Frederick who has an eccentric sense of style and is on the run from "The Collective" a vampire group that wants to harm him because they blame him for a past event.

Reggie and Amelia have a fake-dating, opposites attract romance where there's actually not so much fake dating on page. One or two events with her family to prepare for a family wedding Amelia has to attend is all. The main conflict has to do with Reggie and the Collective and taxes.

I would recommend Levine's books as palate cleansers. They are a fun time, but not super memorable or emotional. Not a negative at all, just saying. I also appreciate the accuracy in Chicago descriptions of the setting as well as the little excursion to Door County, WI, because it is so real that folks in Chicagoland go to Wisconsin for their fun.

This book was adorable! I have only recently started to dip my toes in the “paranormal romance” genre because I don’t necessarily like scary or gory content. With that being said, this book does lean more romantic than paranormal in my opinion and it was not scary at all. So if you are like me and don’t like scary content, but are looking for a fun book this upcoming spooky season, I definitely recommend this book. This book has a lot of heart to it, and also a lot of humor. There were several parts of the book where I laughed out loud, and I can’t say I do that for many books.

I should also clarify that while this book can be read as a standalone novel, this book is set in the same universe as My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine. and there are some characters from that book that appear in this book as well.

On the audiobook side of things, the book is narrated by Helen Laser and Daniel Henning. Helen is an audiobook narrator that I stumbled upon earlier this year and she has since become one of my favorite voices to listen to. Daniel was not someone I had listened to narrate an audiobook before, but now that I have listened to one book narrated by him, I think I would enjoy listening to more books by Daniel. His voice was very charming in my opinion.

I am very much looking forward to Jenna Levine’s next book and I am excited to see if it will be another vampire story or perhaps something completely different. She is going on my “authors to watch” list!

This book is set to be released on September 17th, 2024. Pick it up at your favorite local retailer, I highly doubt that you will be disappointed.

My Vampire Plus One is book two in Jenna’s My Vampire series & is the perfect spooky season read for book lovers who prefer all things fun, warm & cozy over dark & scary. It features Reggie, goofball best friend of Frederick who we met in book one, My Roommate is a Vampire. As someone dying for Reggie to have his own HEA, I was couldn’t pick this up fast enough.

Ever the golden retriever hero, Reggie was the perfect match for Amelia - a workaholic accountant with no interest in dating outside of getting her family off her back about being single. I adored watching her soften as Reggie did everything in his power to make her happy and smile. How he proudly stool by her side in front of her family. How easily he agreed to help in the first place because he’d never turn down the option to “prank” someone.

I am sure that this book will make it on a lot of spooky season TBRs as it is a light, silly, goofy time. It is the second book (after My Roommate is a Vampire) and follows chronologically after that story.

Things I liked!
-I chuckled a lot. The MMC, Reginald, is introduced in the first book, and he honestly is a hoot. I enjoyed him being the star as he was fun to read about, and fun to be in his thoughts.
-Dual POV, though we could’ve used a little more time in Reggie’s world!
-I enjoyed the FMC, Amelia, more than Cassie in book 1.
-Vindication that Cassie’s art is indeed, terrible!! (IYKYK)
-Some answers from book 1 that I needed were revealed and for that, I was thankful!

Things I didn’t like so much!
-The first half of the book felt slow. And is absolutely centered on one big miscommunication. Beware if this irks you.
-The chemistry kinda goes from 0 to 100 really fast, which in a normal romcom would bug me more, but since he’s a vampire I just say “eh” and move on.
-The way this author writes endings is ANNOYING. The same thing they did in book 1 they basically did in this, do not leave things up to interpretation for me in this kind of book, spoon feed me what happens!

If you are here for the vibes (and this super cute cover) I say to jump in! If you didn’t love the first book, or have a massive TBR you need to get to this month then this may be a skip! But I did have a good time, especially in the second half of the book. Overall, 3.5 stars for me, and if there is another book to come (I have no idea if there is!) I’ll pick it up. Again, I am who I am!

i really enjoyed the first half but the story took a turn into something that wasn’t promised. I would have preferred it stuck to the fake dating and interactions with amelia’s family and life but a random subplot about reggies past that didn’t actually reveal anything meaningful about him as a character. He still felt like the fun side character from the first book and I’m disappointed because I like him and wanted to see him be developed.

I really loved My Roommate is a Vampire and was really looking forward to My Vampire Plus-One. I really enjoyed Reginald's quirkiness and wanted more of his character, which we definitely get in this book. However, I feel like the book was more about Amelia and less about our strange but loveable Reggie. I did like this book, but the wedding seemed very rushed because there was so much happening leading up to the wedding itself. I'm curious to see what Levine has in store for us after this book.

A main character who's a CPA! Love seeing different careers represented in books. :) I won't spoil the end but this one was it for me! My biggest criticism from book 1 was that the ending fell a little flat for me and was resolved too quickly. This book was not the case and there were so many details that all came together to create the resolution. Chefs kiss.

Didn't care for Reggie too much in book one, but thats a super unpopular opinion according to these reviews! Regardless, I really came to like him in My Vampire Plus-One and got to better understand his humor.

We get some updates about Cassie from book 1 which was so fun! I'll definitely be reading more from this author after liking this book. Would absolutely recommend during spooky season.

Jenna Levine did it again; this time, it was a blood blast. Everyone who loved Twilight growing up needs to read this as soon as possible. I adored this. It had me giggling and kicking my feet so much that I wish I could read it for the first time again. I need more vampire romances ASAP.
