This book was a lot of fun! It's so hard to find 30+ female romantic leads but Levine excels at it. I honestly liked this one better than My Roommate is a Vampire, maybe because I was already familiar with the world that the story takes place in so I was able to jump right into the plot. Reggie is an excellent character. This is also a fresh take on the fake dating trope. While the council didn't prove to be the threat they were built up to be, I was still engaged in the ending. I'm already looking forward to Levine's next!
Thank you NetGalley, Jenna Levine, and Berkley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I LOVED this one, which was a little surprising because I wasn’t a huge fan of My Roommate is a Vampire. I feel like this one was so much more my speed though and I loved the characters and the plot.
This one follows Amelia Collins, a single accountant, as she asks Reginald Cleaves to be her fake-date for a family wedding. She met him through a chance encounter, but he agrees and they start to learn more about one another. First off, I love that she’s as accountant, as you don’t really see that much in romance books and that’s also what my boyfriend is! Reggie is such a cool character too and I loved reading about his fun outfits and bubbly personality. Fake dating is also a trope I really enjoy.
The romance in this one is great - the pacing was perfect and Amelia and Reggie are great for one another. If you like paranormal, fun romances, please pick this one up! The cover is also gorgeous so that’s a plus ;)
This was such a cute read. If you want a fun, light read for spooky season, this book does exactly that. You are first introduced to a FMC, Amelia, accountant who is consumed by work and tired of her family asking about her love life. She is almost run over by MMC, Reginald, who immediately is a quirky, lovable delight. They cross paths again and Amelia asks Reginald aka Reggie to be her fake date for a series of wedding events. Reggie who is on the run from a pretty unserious Vampire Collective with the intent to punish him for a crime he did not commit, agrees to Amelia's plan. Hilarity and romance ensues. While Reggie explains he is a vampire, it takes Amelia a few chapters to realize he's serious. Also, they eventually realize that their fake romance is very real. It did take me a while to get into this book but I will say Reggie was the best part. His bullet journal, interactions with the bullet journal community and overall personality made this book fun to read. This book reminded me of my childhood in terms of the quirkiness similar to The Witches by Roald Dahl. The major difference being that the language and romance are very much adult. I recommend it if you love quirky, silly vampire MMC, fake dating, and a light read with some spice.
How can you not love Reggie?! I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one, maybe even a bit more due to the plot. Jenna Levine writes the most charming characters with lots of hijinks and humor. Her books just make me happy!
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for access to this arc.
Definitely won’t be for everyone as it can be a little silly but if you can handle the occasional ridiculousness then this is such a fun and cute read. Reggie was probably my favourite character in My Roommate is a Vampire so getting a whole book of him as the love interest was a blast. A perfect lighthearted read that will have you laughing out loud.
I hadn't read Jenna Levine's first book "My Roommate Is a Vampire", but I knew enough about it to realize there were plenty of cameos and easter eggs to the previous characters. Still, it didn't at all feel necessary to have prior knowledge in order to enjoy "My Vampire Plus-One", which I had a lot of fun reading.
The novel was so goofy and charming, it was a joy to watch Amelia and Reggie fall in love. While the latter probably wouldn't be my kind of person in real life, they fit together so well and balanced each other out. They had laugh-out-loud moments as well as steamy and romantic scenes.
If you're looking for a quick and fun read with not too complicated vampire lore, this will likely work for you. I can't speak on similarities or differences to the previous novel, just that the story of those characters continues on in this one.
My Vampire Plus-One was one of my favorite reads of September and one I will definitely look to re-read again next fall!
Amelia is just trying to get by, working as an accountant and putting on a brave face whenever asked where her "boyfriend" is. When an invite arrives for another family wedding, she lets out a small lie that she has a boyfriend who'll be coming with her. Her issue? She needs to find a date, and FAST. Thankfully, she sees Reggie, someone she ran into on the sidewalk a day ago, and tells him he owes her a favor. It doesn't hurt that he also needs her for something, something vampiric. Soon, they realize they both need each other as a "plus-one" in some sort of life. Hopefully, it won't come to bite them where it hurts.
I adored reading Jenna Levine's sophomore novel and will be telling everyone to put it on their fall TBR lists! While this is a "sequel" to the first, I don't necessarily feel that others need to read the first in order to get the main gist and characters of "Plus One." In fact, readers may then want to go back and dive into Levine's debut. I loved the pop cultural references (I was a Twihard) and look forward to whatever Levine puts out next.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
If you are looking for a quick, steamy, vampire-infused book for spooky season, this one is for you!
I had a ton of fun with this one, and loved the dynamic between the two MCs. Reginald and Amelia, by all accounts, are opposites. I mean, he's a vampire and she's an accountant. But when they decide to invoke the tried and true 'fake dating' scenario to the mix, things start to heat up. I found myself blowing through this one and absolutely swooning after Reginald.
I really appreciated their banter, and found the whole 'opposites attract' thing to be done really well.
Would definitely recommend this one if you are looking for a hot vampire who doesn't say "better hold on tight, spider monkey".
this was a cute one but not one of my top faves. Cute and fun and made me giggle quite a few times. I loved the fake dating trope. The writing style is so easy to read and enjoyable. I loved that it wasn’t fully revolved around spice. It was a cute rom com with a silly plot that worked for this one.
My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine is a delightful romp through the world of paranormal romance, blending humor with captivating supernatural elements. The story follows a quirky protagonist who unexpectedly finds herself in a whirlwind romance with a charming vampire, leading to both comedic and heartfelt moments. Levine’s witty dialogue and engaging characters bring a fresh perspective to the vampire genre, making it a fun and enjoyable read. With its mix of romance, adventure, and a touch of the fantastical, this novel is perfect for fans looking for a lighthearted escape into a world of love and the undead.
📣 a cute fake dating romance with an oops-he’s-a-vampire misunderstanding
Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for the complimentary ARC. All opinions provided are my own.
📖 what are you reading? I just started The Jewel of the Isle the other day.
My Vampire Plus-One doesn’t take itself too seriously & I really like that. He’s a himbo vampire with a latent bullet journaling interest & she’s an accountant who thinks he’s being funny every time he makes a vampire reference.
Amelia & Reggie have agreed to fake date each other & all that time together gives them opportunity to act on their real feelings for each other.
This is an adorable book with a heartwarming romance—sure, Reggie could be a killer but instead he wears questionable outfits & flies to a convenience store so he can make sure Amelia has plenty of food when they’re snowed in.
I found myself wishing that the vampire aspects were less realistic though. Like, in real life, I might be nervous around a vampire but in my books I want the other lead to have Paris Hilton “that’s hot” energy 🤣.
But this is fun & quirky vampire romance & if it didn’t give me everything I wanted, it still satisfied & brought a smile to my face.
4.25 ⭐️. Out now!

I loved My Roommate Is A Vampire so imagine my surprise when I ended up loving this book even more! This book can be read as a stand alone but I would still recommend reading the first book in the series first!
I am a big fan of the fake dating and forced proximity tropes and this book does them perfectly. It is funny and cute and I just fell in love with the main characters.
Reggie and Amelia enter into a fake dating arrangement that benefits them both. Amelia wants to keep her family out of her nonexsistant love life, while Reginald is trying to evade the Vampire society that’s after him. However, they’re unprepared for the intense chemistry and connection that quickly develops between them.
I absolutely fell in love with Reggie. I am so happy he got his own story after being a side character in the first book. He is funny, sweet and I love how much he loves bullet journaling! Adorable.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Jenna Levine for the ARC!
My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine is a fun paranormal romantic comedy and the second book in the My Vampires series.
You can count on this series to provide a fun romp! The artists always do an amazing job on the covers, too!
I had a lot of fun reading this one. I read the eARC on my Kindle Paperwhite, which meant I ended up reading it before falling asleep each night. But then I got sick with an ear infection, and my brain was unable to focus on reading! This book took me a lot longer than it should have for me to read, but it's not the book's fault.
Once I got my faculties back, I ended up inhaling the last half of this book in one sitting. I fell in love with Reginald in the first book in the series, My Roommate is a Vampire, and I was so glad to delve further into his character in this installment and watch him pull our FMC out of her shell.
There's a bit of a meet-cute moment when Reginald, fleeing from The Collective--a group of vampires who have been trying to kill him for centuries--literally runs into Amelia, an accountant, in the street. After a few other chance meetings, Amelia asks him to pretend to be her boyfriend because she needs a date to her cousin's wedding in a few weeks, and a few other family obligations along the way.
Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, and is used in a really charming and fun way here. Communication and consent are both very important to both Reggie and Amelia, which I love to see. The spice is nice and there's a bit of dirty talk, but there are also many many times where Reginald shows how much he cares by doing acts of service.
If you're looking for a fun and lighthearted paranormal romance, you should give this one a try!
Tropes in this book include: fake dating, forced proximity, epistolary (text messages, emails, journal entries)
I absolutely adored this book. I really enjoyed MY ROOMMATE IS A VAMPIRE, but this one was even more enjoyable, and that is probably mostly due in part to the fact we are following Reginald this time. And Reginald was 100% the Spike to Frederick's Angel, so OBVIOUSLY I loved that. I also really liked Amelia and how she is incredibly driven, incredibly capable and intelligent, and also just a LITTLE high strung. Because that makes her dynamic and chemistry with Reggie that much more satisfying. And it's implied that should Levine continue writing these paranormal romances we MAY be following a witch next time. I MEAN COME ON. Jenna Levine continues to be a favorite paranormal romance author for me.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author, and I really love her style! It’s the perfect vampire/paranormal romance with some spice, a lot of humour, and of course, true love.
Reginald was an absolute gem of an MMC. He was hilarious and vibrant, but he also had a soft and gentle side to him that he wasn’t afraid to embrace. Amelia was a great match for him - and when I say that, I mean she was the complete opposite.
I read most of this in one day. It had that addictive romcom feel to it and I just wanted to stay in the author’s world for as long as I could. I remember feeling that way with her first book as well.
Side note: this is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone.
Thank you to Berkley Publishing for my gifted copy!
Such a fun read! I love a paranormal book with humor and this one kept me laughing from beginning to end. Reginald was so fun and it cracks me up that he’s such a free spirit while Amelia is such a straitlaced accountant! It was just a super fun and adorable read!
this was so fun! i loved this authors previous book and this one definitely lived up to my expectations! the characters were so fun to follow around, the pacing was perfect and overall this was such a perfect way to end my summer reading. jenna levine knows how to write silly vampires who still hold true to the vampire stereotypes while feeling completely different at the same time! i can't wait for the next book from this author!
This series is just pure fun! Both books are light, easy reading with the most perfect vibes for this time of year. I always find myself enthralled with the characters and whatever crazy situation they end up in, and by the end, have a rooting interest in each of their lives.
Read if you like:

"My Vampire Plus-One" is a fun and lighthearted rom-com featuring Amelia, an accountant fed up with her family’s constant comments about her lack of a boyfriend, and Reggie, an ancient vampire trying to stay under the radar. When they cross paths and later meet at a cafe, Amelia hatches a plan to bring Reggie as her fake boyfriend to a family wedding. The fake dating trope was done so well, with a slow-burn romance that had me smiling throughout. Reggie’s sweet, chaotic nature and his adorable journal entries about Amelia made him such an endearing character.
This book leans more toward romance than paranormal, so if you’re looking for something spooky, this might not be it, but it’s perfect for anyone wanting a charming, humorous read. The banter between Amelia and Reggie was hilarious, and their chemistry really made the story shine. If you enjoyed Jenna Levine's "My Roommate is a Vampire," you'll recognize some familiar faces, but this can be read as a standalone. Perfect for a cozy, feel-good read!
Thank you Berkley Romance for the free book and to PRH Audio for the complimentary audiobook. These opinions are my own.
This is the second book in Jenna Levine's vampire series, but it can definitely be read as a stand alone book. Amelia is an accountant who doesn't fit in well with her family. When pressed about attending an upcoming wedding, she says she has a boyfriend who will be her date. And the first person to come to mind is the strange man she bumped into on the street. Reggie agrees to fake date because it gives him a chance to hide from the collective of vampires who are out for revenge against him.
This was funny, eccentric, and bonkers in exactly the right way. It's a true rom-com that kept me amused throughout. I enjoyed the fun tropes of being snowed in. And I loved the little bits of mystery and adventure sprinkled throughout. I enjoyed this even more than the first book.
I love every time that Helen Laser narrates, and this was no exception. Daniel Henning joined her in giving a strong performance.
