Thank you to Berkley and Netgalley for the eARC of My Vampire Plus One in exchange for my honest review!
I adored the first book but didn’t end up really enjoying this one as much. I just felt like I wasn’t really invested in it. It feels like this didn’t really need to happen which is such a shame since the first book was so cute. This one seemed to be written around the fake dating trope without really having enough meat to support the trope.
I’ll still keep an eye out for Jenna’s other books even if this one didn’t really work for me!

I had fun with this one. We love a fake dating trope! Fun with fashion and really liked the chemistry between Reggie and Amelia.

There’s a pulpy vibe to this cover that fits the cheeky tone of the novel nicely. And in a sea of illustrated covers, this one’s unique illustration style and the playful shadows really stand out.

Dating Profile
Amelia Collins is a successful accountant with a happy life. But her singleness is the bane of her family’s existence, and Amelia is tired of showing up to family events alone—and dealing with the snarky comments and side-eyed looks of people who are supposed to care. When she’s invited to her cousin’s wedding, she decides to find herself a plus-one who will take the focus off of her, and, thanks to a second-chance encounter, she finds herself an attractive and amiable man who will do just the trick.
Reginald Cleaves is a semi-aimless, centuries-old vampire who loves fun. And being Amelia’s plus-one sounds like the most fun he’s had in years. And if spending time with her as her fake boyfriend helps him hide from the vampires who are hunting him, all the better.
Meet Cute: Do You Come Here Often?
Amelia’s leaving her office to head to a family dinner, laden with files and paperwork, when a man in an unusual outfit runs straight into her. The man is snarky and unapologetic, and Amelia writes him off as a one-time thing, even as she wonders about the feelings their momentary connection elicited. But then she sees him again at a coffee shop, and in an unusual spurt of bravery, decides to ask him to fake date her for about a month.
The Lean: It’s Only a Month
Reggie is a pretty open book from day one. He’s in the situationship for the fun of it, but he also has a long track record of being seriously attracted to accountants. Amelia second-guesses her choice almost immediately, and when she finds out he’s a vampire on the run from some other vampires, she nearly calls everything off. But there’s something about Reggie that she can’t deny, and he certainly becomes more attached—and less jokey—as they spend more and more time together.
Dirty Talk: My Lady
Although Amelia wants to take things slow with Reggie—a guy she just met and will only be “together” with until after her cousin’s wedding—but her hormones aren’t letting her keep him at an arm’s length. Reggie’s all for taking things to the next step, but he’s also a considerate, caring human being vampire who wants to make sure Amelia’s as into it as he is.
Ms. Perky’s Prize for Purplest Prose
Amelia can often get too wrapped up in her own head and her own insecurities. But she finally lets loose with Reggie—even though she still finds a way to overthink things.
We Need to Talk: Hoa Hoa Season
I absolutely loved the role reversal in My Vampire Plus-One. Instead of Amelia being the Twilight fan and having deeply buried fantasies of a certain sparkly vampire that get made real with her relationship with Reggie, it’s Reggie who adores the oldest Cullen.
Was it Good For You? Turn Me
Any book in which an actual vampire confesses his love for Edward Cullen is a book that I know I’m going to enjoy. Levine’s characters are relatable and believable, and her story is delightfully quirkly—both the characters and story fall just inside the line of too farcical to be a good read. I didn’t know this was a companion book to her My Roommate’s A Vampire, but I definitely plan on going back and reading that one to enjoy more of her world.

This book was so cute! Absolutely perfect for October. The two main charcters were so fun and I hope the author keeps adding books to this series!

Levine writes silly goofy rom-coms with humans and vampires. It seems as though this one is the end of a duology but both of the entries are a fun time with a solid steamy scene when it finally hits about 70% through. Amelia is a practical CPA from a family that is much more history/writing centered and they also seem to not take anything about her seriously. They don't even care about her dietary preferences when choosing dinner locations. Reggie is Frederick's vampire friend from the first book with Cassie and Frederick who has an eccentric sense of style and is on the run from "The Collective" a vampire group that wants to harm him because they blame him for a past event.
Reggie and Amelia have a fake-dating, opposites attract romance where there's actually not so much fake dating on page. One or two events with her family to prepare for a family wedding Amelia has to attend is all. The main conflict has to do with Reggie and the Collective and taxes.
I would recommend Levine's books as palate cleansers. They are a fun time, but not super memorable or emotional. Not a negative at all, just saying. I also appreciate the accuracy in Chicago descriptions of the setting as well as the little excursion to Door County, WI, because it is so real that folks in Chicagoland go to Wisconsin for their fun.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book was adorable! I have only recently started to dip my toes in the “paranormal romance” genre because I don’t necessarily like scary or gory content. With that being said, this book does lean more romantic than paranormal in my opinion and it was not scary at all. So if you are like me and don’t like scary content, but are looking for a fun book this upcoming spooky season, I definitely recommend this book. This book has a lot of heart to it, and also a lot of humor. There were several parts of the book where I laughed out loud, and I can’t say I do that for many books.
I should also clarify that while this book can be read as a standalone novel, this book is set in the same universe as My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine. and there are some characters from that book that appear in this book as well.
On the audiobook side of things, the book is narrated by Helen Laser and Daniel Henning. Helen is an audiobook narrator that I stumbled upon earlier this year and she has since become one of my favorite voices to listen to. Daniel was not someone I had listened to narrate an audiobook before, but now that I have listened to one book narrated by him, I think I would enjoy listening to more books by Daniel. His voice was very charming in my opinion.
I am very much looking forward to Jenna Levine’s next book and I am excited to see if it will be another vampire story or perhaps something completely different. She is going on my “authors to watch” list!
This book is set to be released on September 17th, 2024. Pick it up at your favorite local retailer, I highly doubt that you will be disappointed.
Many Thanks again to NetGalley, Berkley, and Penguin Random House Audio for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review!

My Vampire Plus One is book two in Jenna’s My Vampire series & is the perfect spooky season read for book lovers who prefer all things fun, warm & cozy over dark & scary. It features Reggie, goofball best friend of Frederick who we met in book one, My Roommate is a Vampire. As someone dying for Reggie to have his own HEA, I was couldn’t pick this up fast enough.
Ever the golden retriever hero, Reggie was the perfect match for Amelia - a workaholic accountant with no interest in dating outside of getting her family off her back about being single. I adored watching her soften as Reggie did everything in his power to make her happy and smile. How he proudly stool by her side in front of her family. How easily he agreed to help in the first place because he’d never turn down the option to “prank” someone.

If there is one thing I know about myself is that if there is a Vampire rom-com out there, I will read it. Even if I didn’t LOVE the first one. I am who I am, what can I say?
Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for an eARC of this title in exchange for an honest review!
I am sure that this book will make it on a lot of spooky season TBRs as it is a light, silly, goofy time. It is the second book (after My Roommate is a Vampire) and follows chronologically after that story.
Things I liked!
-I chuckled a lot. The MMC, Reginald, is introduced in the first book, and he honestly is a hoot. I enjoyed him being the star as he was fun to read about, and fun to be in his thoughts.
-Dual POV, though we could’ve used a little more time in Reggie’s world!
-I enjoyed the FMC, Amelia, more than Cassie in book 1.
-Vindication that Cassie’s art is indeed, terrible!! (IYKYK)
-Some answers from book 1 that I needed were revealed and for that, I was thankful!
Things I didn’t like so much!
-The first half of the book felt slow. And is absolutely centered on one big miscommunication. Beware if this irks you.
-The chemistry kinda goes from 0 to 100 really fast, which in a normal romcom would bug me more, but since he’s a vampire I just say “eh” and move on.
-The way this author writes endings is ANNOYING. The same thing they did in book 1 they basically did in this, do not leave things up to interpretation for me in this kind of book, spoon feed me what happens!
If you are here for the vibes (and this super cute cover) I say to jump in! If you didn’t love the first book, or have a massive TBR you need to get to this month then this may be a skip! But I did have a good time, especially in the second half of the book. Overall, 3.5 stars for me, and if there is another book to come (I have no idea if there is!) I’ll pick it up. Again, I am who I am!
This is OUT NOW! 🧛♂️

i really enjoyed the first half but the story took a turn into something that wasn’t promised. I would have preferred it stuck to the fake dating and interactions with amelia’s family and life but a random subplot about reggies past that didn’t actually reveal anything meaningful about him as a character. He still felt like the fun side character from the first book and I’m disappointed because I like him and wanted to see him be developed.

I really loved My Roommate is a Vampire and was really looking forward to My Vampire Plus-One. I really enjoyed Reginald's quirkiness and wanted more of his character, which we definitely get in this book. However, I feel like the book was more about Amelia and less about our strange but loveable Reggie. I did like this book, but the wedding seemed very rushed because there was so much happening leading up to the wedding itself. I'm curious to see what Levine has in store for us after this book.

A main character who's a CPA! Love seeing different careers represented in books. :) I won't spoil the end but this one was it for me! My biggest criticism from book 1 was that the ending fell a little flat for me and was resolved too quickly. This book was not the case and there were so many details that all came together to create the resolution. Chefs kiss.
Didn't care for Reggie too much in book one, but thats a super unpopular opinion according to these reviews! Regardless, I really came to like him in My Vampire Plus-One and got to better understand his humor.
We get some updates about Cassie from book 1 which was so fun! I'll definitely be reading more from this author after liking this book. Would absolutely recommend during spooky season.
Loved this more than book 1, so glad I stayed the course and read the second book in the series! The wedding itself doesnt come into play until much later. It was interesting to see the authors buildup from transactional favor to friends to lovers! Overall a really solid rom com. :)
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for this book in exchange for an honest review!

Jenna Levine did it again; this time, it was a blood blast. Everyone who loved Twilight growing up needs to read this as soon as possible. I adored this. It had me giggling and kicking my feet so much that I wish I could read it for the first time again. I need more vampire romances ASAP.
Tropes:
-Fake dating
-Grumpy/sunshine
-Dual POV
-Opposites attract
Arc received from the publisher; all thoughts and opinions are my own. I have purchased my own copy.

This fun, sexy romcom arrives just in time for spooky season, and it’s the perfect mix of lighthearted romance and supernatural flair. If you’re into the witty banter and steamy chemistry found in Ali Hazelwood’s Bride or Lana Ferguson’s The Fake Mate, then you’ll want to add this one to your TBR immediately.
The story follows Amelia, a dedicated and strait-laced workaholic who hasn’t quite figured out how to let loose. She’s all about structure, routine, and focus—until Reggie, a runaway vampire with a charming smile and messy blonde hair, literally crashes into her world. Normally, blonde MMCs aren’t my thing, but Reggie is the kind of guy who’ll make you reconsider. He’s a walking, talking golden retriever—sweet, eager to please, and full of energy.
What I love about Reggie and Amelia is that while it’s not your typical grumpy vs. sunshine dynamic, there’s still a great contrast between them. Amelia is serious and controlled, while Reggie brings out a sense of adventure and fun that she’s long forgotten. Their chemistry feels natural, and their interactions strike that perfect balance of playful and heartwarming. Watching Amelia slowly open up to the idea of enjoying life beyond work, thanks to Reggie’s influence, is both charming and relatable.
With the added twist of a vampire love interest, My Vampire Plus-One is an entertaining blend of romcom and supernatural mischief that’s ideal for spooky season. It’s perfect if you’re looking for something that’s light, flirty, and just a little bit magical.

This book was a lot of fun! It's so hard to find 30+ female romantic leads but Levine excels at it. I honestly liked this one better than My Roommate is a Vampire, maybe because I was already familiar with the world that the story takes place in so I was able to jump right into the plot. Reggie is an excellent character. This is also a fresh take on the fake dating trope. While the council didn't prove to be the threat they were built up to be, I was still engaged in the ending. I'm already looking forward to Levine's next!

Thank you NetGalley, Jenna Levine, and Berkley for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I LOVED this one, which was a little surprising because I wasn’t a huge fan of My Roommate is a Vampire. I feel like this one was so much more my speed though and I loved the characters and the plot.
This one follows Amelia Collins, a single accountant, as she asks Reginald Cleaves to be her fake-date for a family wedding. She met him through a chance encounter, but he agrees and they start to learn more about one another. First off, I love that she’s as accountant, as you don’t really see that much in romance books and that’s also what my boyfriend is! Reggie is such a cool character too and I loved reading about his fun outfits and bubbly personality. Fake dating is also a trope I really enjoy.
The romance in this one is great - the pacing was perfect and Amelia and Reggie are great for one another. If you like paranormal, fun romances, please pick this one up! The cover is also gorgeous so that’s a plus ;)

This was such a cute read. If you want a fun, light read for spooky season, this book does exactly that. You are first introduced to a FMC, Amelia, accountant who is consumed by work and tired of her family asking about her love life. She is almost run over by MMC, Reginald, who immediately is a quirky, lovable delight. They cross paths again and Amelia asks Reginald aka Reggie to be her fake date for a series of wedding events. Reggie who is on the run from a pretty unserious Vampire Collective with the intent to punish him for a crime he did not commit, agrees to Amelia's plan. Hilarity and romance ensues. While Reggie explains he is a vampire, it takes Amelia a few chapters to realize he's serious. Also, they eventually realize that their fake romance is very real. It did take me a while to get into this book but I will say Reggie was the best part. His bullet journal, interactions with the bullet journal community and overall personality made this book fun to read. This book reminded me of my childhood in terms of the quirkiness similar to The Witches by Roald Dahl. The major difference being that the language and romance are very much adult. I recommend it if you love quirky, silly vampire MMC, fake dating, and a light read with some spice.

How can you not love Reggie?! I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one, maybe even a bit more due to the plot. Jenna Levine writes the most charming characters with lots of hijinks and humor. Her books just make me happy!
Thank you to NetGalley and Berkley for access to this arc.

Definitely won’t be for everyone as it can be a little silly but if you can handle the occasional ridiculousness then this is such a fun and cute read. Reggie was probably my favourite character in My Roommate is a Vampire so getting a whole book of him as the love interest was a blast. A perfect lighthearted read that will have you laughing out loud.

I hadn't read Jenna Levine's first book "My Roommate Is a Vampire", but I knew enough about it to realize there were plenty of cameos and easter eggs to the previous characters. Still, it didn't at all feel necessary to have prior knowledge in order to enjoy "My Vampire Plus-One", which I had a lot of fun reading.
The novel was so goofy and charming, it was a joy to watch Amelia and Reggie fall in love. While the latter probably wouldn't be my kind of person in real life, they fit together so well and balanced each other out. They had laugh-out-loud moments as well as steamy and romantic scenes.
If you're looking for a quick and fun read with not too complicated vampire lore, this will likely work for you. I can't speak on similarities or differences to the previous novel, just that the story of those characters continues on in this one.

My Vampire Plus-One was one of my favorite reads of September and one I will definitely look to re-read again next fall!
Amelia is just trying to get by, working as an accountant and putting on a brave face whenever asked where her "boyfriend" is. When an invite arrives for another family wedding, she lets out a small lie that she has a boyfriend who'll be coming with her. Her issue? She needs to find a date, and FAST. Thankfully, she sees Reggie, someone she ran into on the sidewalk a day ago, and tells him he owes her a favor. It doesn't hurt that he also needs her for something, something vampiric. Soon, they realize they both need each other as a "plus-one" in some sort of life. Hopefully, it won't come to bite them where it hurts.
I adored reading Jenna Levine's sophomore novel and will be telling everyone to put it on their fall TBR lists! While this is a "sequel" to the first, I don't necessarily feel that others need to read the first in order to get the main gist and characters of "Plus One." In fact, readers may then want to go back and dive into Levine's debut. I loved the pop cultural references (I was a Twihard) and look forward to whatever Levine puts out next.
