I good collection for stories to read aloud. The characters were delightful and the stories engaging.
1. I was quite bored reading this book. I would find it hard to read it to a child and keep them engaged.
2. It did not inspire any "happy" feelings...it was just a bunch of facts about animals, with some of them being endangered.
3. It was not kid-friendly, in my opinion. But, hey, there were lots of pretty pictures to look at.
Thank you to NetGalley for an Advanced Reader's Copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest opinion.
Happy Stories for Animal Lovers is a gorgeously illustrated book filled with facts about cute and interesting animals. It also tells the reader about some of the wonderful eco-friendly and conservation projects some parts of the world are working on, to conserve their local endangered species.
The stories are lovely, and short, so they can easily be read together. They're a little too short for my liking, but they are still lovely and well worth a read.
I enjoyed the book, and I pre-ordered a physical copy. It hasn't arrived yet.
My favourite story was the one about the belugas and the narwhal.
I didn't receive a physical copy, so I can't speak for the post-consumer recycled paper, but in my experience, children's books should use high-quality paper, especially if you're paying for a lovely hardcover edition. So I'm not sure how I feel about such a beautiful book using cheap paper. I'm worried it will spoil it.
4 out of 5 stars. Definitely recommend. Eco-conscious kids will love this.

Let me start by saying that "Happy Stories for Animal Lovers" is a delightful read that left me feeling uplifted and inspired. As an animal lover, this book instantly captured my attention with its fun and colorful cover, setting the tone for a heartwarming journey through stories of human-animal connections around the world.
One of the highlights of this book is the variety of true tales it offers about different animals and the efforts being made to protect and preserve their habitats. From heartwarming conservation projects to community initiatives, each story showcases the positive impact that individuals and groups can have on the well-being of our animal friends.
I particularly enjoyed the narrative style in which the stories are told, making them engaging and easy to connect with. The book succeeds in celebrating the beauty of our planet and the incredible diversity of animal life it supports. It serves as a reminder that even in the face of environmental challenges, there is hope and progress being made to ensure a brighter future for animals.
The "What You Can Do" section at the end of the book is a valuable addition, providing practical tips for readers, especially children, on how they can contribute to animal conservation efforts. From building a bug hotel to becoming a wildlife watcher, the book empowers its readers to make a positive difference in the world around them.
Overall, "Happy Stories for Animal Lovers" is a wonderful collection that not only entertains but also educates and inspires readers of all ages. Whether you're a young reader eager to learn about animals or an adult looking for a dose of positivity, this book is sure to leave you with a smile on your face and a renewed appreciation for the precious bond between humans and animals. This was a short picture book that didn’t inspire any happy feelings reading. The stories included were average pieces you could find online with a simple search. They were educational but there was nothing ‘happy’ about them, just a message about endangered animals. As this book is aimed at young children, I didn’t find it all kid-friendly with the facts included which might not have the right impact and not be understood by younger minds. The illustrations were sweet and that was the only real brightness in the book.
Loved this collaboration of short stories for kids. Very educational, amazing artwork, and just terrific.
While I wouldn’t recommend this to all kids, I have plenty of students who love animals and have the reading stamina to get through longer passages that would love this book! The illustrations are captivating with great details. This would also be a great book to teach animal habitats. I could see 2nd or 3rd grade teachers reading passages of this book to teach Science standards! Again, the pages are a little wordier than I anticipated, but I don’t think it’s a bad thing!
Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
I enjoyed that the animal tales were separated by country, although being our official animal, the beaver should have been Canadian and not UK. Other than that I liked it.
The things you can do at home are a great addition as are the links to learn more.
This is a stunning book for families to treasure, beautifully written and illustrated. Packed with positive stories of conservation and community, it's a celebration of our wonderful world of wildlife. The "What you can do" section at the end encourages readers to take action and to find out more about some of the amazing stories featured in the book.
A fabulous book about animals of the world that have been endangered and what has been done to save them.
Filled with fantastic illustrations, this book is so important in the teaching conservation to littles [and in reminding their adults], and the notes at the end show how you can help at home AND how you can actually watch some of the animals featured in this book.
Very well done!
Thank you NetGalley, Leisa Stewart-Sharpe, Anna Shepeta - Illustrator, and Quarto Publishing Group - Ivy Kids/Ivy Kids Echo for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This a beautifully drawn and well-written story great for elementary-level kids. I look forward to getting to read this to my son when he gets a little older.
This book proved to be an exceptionally informative resource for children, capturing the attention and interest of my 8-year-old with remarkable effectiveness. He found the discussions on conservation efforts particularly engaging, which speaks volumes about the book's ability to present complex environmental concepts in a manner accessible to young readers.
Conversely, my 4-year-old found it somewhat challenging to maintain his focus throughout the book. This indicates that while the material is incredibly well-suited for older children who have a burgeoning interest in animals and the natural world, it may be a bit advanced for younger ones. Nonetheless, for those children who are slightly older and exhibit a passion for learning about our planet and its diverse ecosystems, this book serves as an outstanding educational tool. Its insightful content not only educates but also inspires a deeper appreciation for conservation among children.
Happy Stories for Animal Lovers includes bite-sized stories of animal conservation and their positive result in the world! This was a super cute anthology that had a really powerful message. I appreciated all of the ways they showed that you could get involved to help the animals around you. Some of the stories were so short that I was a little disappointed in their length (1-2 pages each), but it was a great introduction to conservation.
Thanks to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing, and Leisa Stewart-Sharpe for the chance to read and review!
Happy Stories for Animal Lovers is a beautifully illustrated book about endangered animals and steps humans have taken to help conserve or grow their population. The text is quite long on each page, so younger children would definitely need help reading this book.
Perfect for introducing children to the concept of animal conservation.
I received an ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Ivy Kids | Ivy Kids Eco via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this advanced read copy. This book is chuck full of fun facts about animals and conservation, endangered species, and other important topics related to animals. The illustrations are beautiful and flow nicely. This would be a great gift for any child or animal lover. Even new readers could enjoy the beautiful illustrations.
This book is full of information about different species from around the world.
It has a lot of text and I think it might be difficult to follow for younger children. But the information is good, detailed and important, as it explains things like extinction and what humans can do to help the planet.
I think it will be great for curious kids who are genuinely interested in the topic, otherwise they might get bored reading it.
The illustrations fit the story perfectly and are stunning.
*Thanks to NetGalley uk, the publishers and the author for the ARC*
Happy Stories for Animal Lovers is beautifully illustrated and contains interesting conservation information on different animals from around the world. There are some tips at the back for things you can do to help the wildlife where you live. It is a book I’ll be getting a physical copy of to add to our collection.
The only criticism I have is there are a lot of words on a page making it not suitable to some younger audiences as keeping attention may be an issue.
Thank you NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Ivy Kids for the chance to read and review this book.
This book is a fantastic addition to any school library. It is an entertaining and resourceful read. Children will enjoy reading it and will learn a great deal from it. I would read one animal’s story at a time between other reads and know that my students would enjoy it. I highly recommend you add the book to your child’s TBR list.
I enjoyed reading this book with my 8-year old daughter. She especially loved the stories about the sharks and the narwhals. The illustrations were well done, and we loved the way the sentences shaped themselves to better tell the story.
Happy Stories For Animal Lovers featuring eight different animal with their own true stories from across the world. One of them is from my own country. ❤ Each story is short and uplifting. Narrate with gentle rhythm and poetic prose the author navigate human's responsible to help animals survive.
This book is informative, have big message and opening young readers's mind. Big recommend !
