This one was decent. It was actually my first read by this author. It was a simple easy read. I’d recommend it to others for a quick read!
Just like all her previous works, I could not put "No One Will Know" down. Rose Carlyle knows exactly how to keep the twists coming.
Eve Sylvester has found herself in an impossible situation. She is left pregnant and penniless after her boyfriend dies in a car accident. So when she is approached about the oppurtunity to nanny for a wealthy couple there isn't much for her to do other than say yes. This perfect situation isn't exactly as it was advertised, but what choice does she have?
Just when you think you know what will happen next, Carlyle proves you wrong.
Thank you William Morrow and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book kept me coming back for more! Through every twist and turn of this book I was astonished. What I thought I knew was proven right, but not in the way I thought. This book was amazing and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends and colleagues!
4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this book! I read it in an afternoon! The only reason I didn’t leave 5 stars was due to the final twist. I believe authors feel like they need to write one more twist that just ruins the book. Just leave well enough alone! Besides that, I loved everything about it! It was a unique plot, and the pacing of the book was perfect! Eve was a very likable character and, at one point, I felt tears in my eyes. I also loved the descriptions of the ocean, and its magical lure! I will definitely check out more by this author! Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
No one will know by Rose Carlyle
A young woman is caught up in a sticky predicament after the love of her life is stolen from her in a car accident. Eve and Zander had their whole life in front of them until a car accident took Zander away, right at that moment when Eve was going to tell Zander the exciting news of their pregnancy.
After the accident, Eve went back to his family condo in the city to try and rebuild and figure out a plan for the future. And tell his family about the joy that was about to be, his family was well to do and wasn’t believing the story Eve had rehearsed. After they basically called her a gold digger, Eve picked up and set out on her own and happened to come upon a woman seeking a nanny job for a well to do family.
That’s when Eves future took a turn for the worst!
This book was wonderful and a fast paced read that kept me begging for the outcome! I loved the character and was cheering her on from the get go!
Thank you NetGalley for this amazing Arc!
I have a lot of mixed feelings about No One Will Know. Some (minor) spoilers ahead:
1. The marketing blurb isn't a great indication of the story itself. The first 15% or so of the book takes places before any of that comes into play and, frankly, feels like a different story. The blurb also leads from the perspective of Julia and Christopher, which isn't an accurate representation of the book itself.
2. The writing also seems to pivot between multiple genres: a drama, a thriller, a different drama, and an action-packed crime story. This doesn't help the plot feel cohesive.
3. The author seemed to invest so much in the first 15% of the plot, only to nearly abandon it altogether for the rest of the book. I was hoping things would tie up and come full circle, but that only added to the disconnect I felt.
4. Despite a *lot* of surprises, only one or two of the twists felt unexpected. And what was perhaps the biggest twist of them all, in the last few pages, fell flat for me.
5. The setup, when revealed, also fell flat for me. I wish, given the subject matter, it felt more impactful, but it almost came off too campy.
And despite all of these things, I could not stop reading this book. There was so much intrigue, the settings were beautifully written, and the plot was so (delightfully) confusing that I was obsessed with figuring it out.
One of the best thrillers I have had the opportunity to read this year! The author weaves a tight web of suspense and keeps you on your toes the whole time.
Just when you think you know, you don’t, and then everything seems wrong, and you have to keep reading to understand what’s going on. This is a fun, addictive, twisty tale that will keep you glued to the pages until the end.
I don’t want to give away the plot, so I’ll suffice it to say that this book is worth your time and I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did.
Thank you, NetGalley and William Morrow for the eARC.
Eve and Xander in Australia after sailing on Xander’s yacht and a whirlwind romance. Xander dies in a car crash on the way to have lunch with his parents. Eve goes to visit Xander’s family after she gets out of the hospital, but they can’t believe Xander would ever be with Eve.
Now Eve is all alone. And pregnant. Lying on Xander’s grade, Eve is approached by Zelde who offers Eve an interview for a nanny position for a rich family.
Eve arrives at the remote home of Chris and Julia. They want to adopt Eve’s baby and will pay Eve to be the nanny. Eve knows they can offer her baby so much more than she ever could, so she jumps at the chance.
And you know the saying: “If it’s too good to be true, it probably is”. Eve finds herself in the middle of a nightmare.
I COULD NOT putt his one down. Fast paced action and twists along the way. I could not turn the pages fast enough.
So good! RECOMMEND.
This was a great page turner about Eve, a woman who takes a nannying job for a rich couple on a secluded island.
This story has many twists and turns and some action scenes too. A shocker ending too! I don't want to give any of the secrets!! You won’t put this one down!
Thanks to Netgalley for the eArc!!!
Thank you NetGallery for the ARC!
This book was SO good!! William Morrow Publishers and Rose Carlyle did it again! Top pick for sure!!
Rose Carlyle has followed up The Girl in the Mirror with another exciting, well written, and eventful thriller. I really enjoyed the fast paced timeline that stretched over the years. I enjoyed the multi POVs in the final third of the book. I enjoyed the multiple layers of story lines that did not feel confusing, but added depth and intrigue. The ending was both satisfactory and complete, but left you thinking in the way a good book does.
Overall, I couldn’t put it down in the 24 hours I used to read it, and I will be recommending this one to my friends!!!
4.5 ⭐️
Wow! This is my second book by this author and it did not disappoint. I did not see the twists and turns coming. I also enjoyed the plot line as it was different than most books I’ve read
I LOVED the girl in the mirror and was SO EXCITED when I seen Rose Carlyle had yet another thriller to request! I REQUESTED ASAP and squealed when I was grated a copy of this book.... It did NOT disappoint. A very complex, page turning novel! Eve is a well rounded character. The plot is seamless and just keeps giving! 4.5 stars!
"No One Will Know" captivated me with its intriguing plotline. The novel, though slightly convoluted at times, managed to maintain a sense of believability. The protagonist, Eve Sylvester, finds herself in a precarious situation as she navigates the challenges of being alone and pregnant. Taking a leap of faith, she ventures to a secluded island, accompanied by unfamiliar faces, all while keeping her plans a secret. Perhaps attributed to her youthful innocence, Eve's decision may seem questionable to some. However, as the story unfolds, unexpected twists and turns keep readers engaged. In the end, "No One Will Know" succeeds in delivering a captivating suspense, deserving of a commendable four-star rating.
Thank you to Net Galley and William Morrow Books for the ARC to read and review.
Poor Eve. She seems to be on the verge of the perfect life when everything goes wrong. Then, once again, she seems on the verge... No One Will Know is full of twists and turns. Just when you think you know what will happen, everything flips. Take a chance and follow Eve's journey... you won't regret it!
No One Will Know, by Rose Carlyle, is a deliciously twisty thriller I couldn't put down! This is my second book by the author (I loved The Girl in the Mirror!) and I can assure you- there is no "sophomore slump" here. It's hard to summarize without giving anything away, but if you love female-driven suspense novels that could be described as motherhood noir, read this! You will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!!!
No One Will Know by Rose Carlyle
Well if your looking for a twisted beyond twists book, this is it.
After Eves boyfriend is killed in a car accident she is not only left alone, penniless and homeless but also pregnant. When an offer of a nanny job for a very rich and private couple expecting their own child miraculously becomes available, Eve thinks it sounds to good to be true. She might be right. Chris and Julia Hygate have their own agenda and it’s definitely not in Eves favor no matter how they try to paint it.
This was a good read. It had lots of twists and turns and I didn’t see the ending coming.
What a strange book! I always find books with present tense first person narration to have an odd vibe, so adding that onto the absolutely bizarre plot of the book made for quite a strange reading experience overall. It was definitely engaging--I read it in just a few days. I even enthralled my friends over brunch by describing the plot--they kept asking "And then what happens??" I felt the clues were placed nicely throughout the first half of the book to lead up to the Big Twist towards the end of the book. I found the epilogue to be a bit anticlimactic--by that point, I was over the "whose is whose?" questions and would have liked some other final surprise.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this. I wasn’t sure if it was just going to be a typical rich family steals baby from poor girl and pays her to keep quiet and let me tell you, it definitely was not.
This story was far more complex than that and I flew through it. I can’t sum much of it up without spoiling parts of the story but this is definitely worth the read.
I really enjoyed the author’s style of writing as well as the story itself.
I absolutely loved The Girl in the Mirror by this author so when I saw this was up for being a request I needed it immediately and actually yelped when I got approved! The author’s writing is so easy to read and follow along. The plot was interesting as well. I was not disappointed. I loved this.
