This was a fun, fast-paced read. I was so curious to see how the story would play out. The characters were unlikable and our MC made some questionable decisions. However, the first few chapters felt like a totally different story than the rest of the book. I was waiting for things to tie up nicely but they didn’t? All in all this was an OK read for me.

What in the heck did I just read?? I will say this, I couldn't put it down because I needed to know how this unbelievable train wreck was going to wrap up. Crazy characters, even more bizarre plot. The setting though, pretty lovely.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

When a pregnant Eve is rebuffed by her boyfriend's wealthy family, she applies for a job as a nanny for a wealthy couple living on a remote island. The couple who employ her thinks she is perfect for the job, even though Eve is expecting a child of her own.

The unexpected situations that Eve comes to face on the island, the strange demands of the couple, and other questions about their activities all make the plot full of twists and turns and surprises, maybe too much and too many to be truly believable.

The ending is unsatisfying, even though it is the final twist in the plot. An interesting read, nevertheless.

I happily requested an ARC of No One Will Know after reading The Girl in the Mirror. I love Rose Carlyle's inventive plots and was extremely intrigued by the book's description. Needless to say, The Girl in the Mirror did not disappoint! I loved the setting, characters, overall plot and underlying family drama. I could not put No One Will Know down and am waiting anxiously for Rose's next book!

3.75 stars rounded up to 4!

This was a very interesting thriller, and I'm happy to say I definitely did not see all of it coming. I liked how the author definitely set the reader up to make you think the book was going in one direction, but every time I was like "okay this is what is happening" we were like hairpin turn!

It was not a perfect five star because all of the characters really bothered me - including Eve, some of her decisions made me deeply side eye - and the plot definitely had me suspending my belief (no spoilers but the lizard storyline and also I definitely would've exited this situation when incident #1 happened, let alone incidents 2 and 3). I also personally don't love thrillers where there is an ominous big bad, but that is also personal preference. That being said, this book was extremely fast paced and I read it only a couple hours, and definitely made for a fun reading experience. I've already downloaded the author's first book off of Libby because I'm excited to read a twisty thriller from her!

Thank you to Netgalley and William Morrow for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley and William Morrow Books for the Advanced Reader’s Copy of No One Will Know by Rose Carlyle.

I don’t want to give too much of the plot away but the main character, Eve, is hit with a terrible tragedy which leads her to meeting the wealthy Hygates. Eve is young and impressionable and is persuaded into accepting the Hygate’s too good to be true offer. My opinion of Eve ebbs and flows throughout the book. She makes some incredibly risky decisions that seem obviously bad but I always find myself rooting for her every step of the way.

This book was a thrilling ride and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a lot of twists along the way and the ending left me speechless. Wow! It is a quick read and well worth it; you won’t be disappointed!

I received this ARC for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

MASTERPIECE. 5 ⭐
Story :Julia and Christopher Hygate seem to have it all—wealth, a secluded island estate, and a baby on the way. When they meet Eve Sylvester, they see her as the perfect nanny for their unborn son. With no family, friends, or partner, Eve is the ideal candidate for their plan. Eve, on the other hand, believes she has found the opportunity of a lifetime, moving from desperation to luxury. However, the seemingly perfect job quickly raises questions: why would the Hygates hire an inexperienced nanny, why must she stay hidden, and what’s with the mysterious yachts frequenting their private marina? As Eve finds herself deeper entangled in the Hygates' world, she uncovers a web of secrets, greed, and deception that could have fatal consequences
Overall Impression: No One Will Know by Rose Carlyle is a gripping thriller that masterfully builds suspense and intrigue from the very beginning. The novel’s setting on a remote island adds to the sense of isolation and tension, making it a perfect backdrop for the unfolding drama. Carlyle’s writing is sharp and engaging, pulling readers into a story filled with unexpected twists and dark secrets.
Points of Interest:
Character Development: Eve Sylvester is a relatable and well-developed character whose journey from hope to horror is compelling. The Hygates, with their charm and sinister undertones, are equally intriguing and add depth to the story.Atmospheric Setting: The secluded island estate creates a claustrophobic and eerie atmosphere, enhancing the novel's suspense. The luxurious yet ominous environment keeps readers on edge.Themes of Deception and Greed: The book delves into themes of greed, deceit, and the lengths people will go to achieve their desires. These themes are woven seamlessly into the plot, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.
Likes and Dislikes:
Likes: The novel’s pacing is excellent, with suspense building steadily throughout. The plot twists are well-executed and keep readers guessing. Carlyle’s vivid descriptions and character dynamics enhance the reading experience.
Dislikes: Some readers might find certain plot developments predictable, and the resolution may feel rushed. However, these aspects do not significantly detract from the overall impact of the story.
Overall, it's a masterpiece. Please don't miss it.
A huge thanks to NetGalley and William Morrow for giving me an advance copy of this masterpiece in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my personal. I'll definitely recommend it to everyone.

3.5 stars.

Rose Carlyle always has the most intriguing and descriptive settings for her books. I was shocked to find out the setting of No One Will Know is fictional! This was a suspenseful and engaging read that I had high hopes for but ultimately was just an okay read for me. As great as the character development was in this book, Eve was infuriatingly dumb. I REALLY try to avoid making that type of criticism because perfect characters would make awfully boring thrillers but this was just too much. I understand the situation Eve was in but it was too much to suspend my belief she would allow they Hygates to treat her the way they did at various points.

Plot-wise (with no spoilers) I thought direction Carlyle chose was quite unique and wasn't something I expected until she starting with the larger clues. Unfortunately, I think this book fell into the trap of trying to do TOO much and have TOO many twists. The core "shock" of the plot was enough for me; I don't think the story needed all the intricacies and additional layers.

I loved The Girl in the Mirror so I really look forward to this author's next work!

Slight spoiler:

(I think there is an unneccesary portion of the blurb for this book that ruins a portion of the reading experience as well as the final twist)

NO ONE WILL KNOW
BY: ROSE CARLYLE

I thought by the synopsis of Rose Carlyle's latest mystery-thriller called, No One Will Know, that I thought I could tell what direction this twisty, chiller would go, and I'm happy to say that it didn't go there. But, it went in multitude of uncommon, original directions that makes this a fantastic, atypical choice, with much new ground covered in this high octane, fast paced plot driven novel. It starts out with a new relationship between Eve and her new love interest going to his snobbish parents, typically rich (cliche & tired trope) to introduce Eve. Only they never arrived because they were in a bad car accident in which Eve wakes up in the hospital to remember that her love interest named, Alexander died. Eve is pregnant with their child goes to tell his grieving family about the baby and they make it clear that they don't want a relationship with her since the mother practically accuses her of wanting to cash in on their family wealth. That isn't the case. Eve's next stop after that disastrous visit is to spend time at the deceased father of her unborn baby on the way at the cemetery expecting solitude. While she's there she gets approached by an older woman who starts a conversation interrupting a private time where he'd recently been buried in which she expected to be left alone to tell him about her pregnancy.

Here's the common trope: Eve has no living relatives, she has a limited amount of cash and of course she's pregnant with nobody and no place to live. The older woman actually has researched Eve's options by an unethical social worker who works where Eve has just been discharged from the hospital. The woman offers her a job at her employers who are a rich young couple who live in beautiful home, who are looking for a live- in nanny. They live on a remote fictional island on an isolated sea cove in Australia. Eve is taken aback at first but gets offered a thousand dollars for going for the interview. Eve is impressed with the warm and loving care that this couple have taken the time to decorate the nursery. She ends up taking the job since the couple want to adopt her baby which Eve hadn't even thought about such a choice. They look like Eve and her deceased father of her baby which this couple says that they would provide a loving home, and the baby would have more opportunities, than Eve could provide as a seamstress being a single mother. When they wear her down she considers agreeing to let them adopt her baby if she can give the baby a name when it's born. She really doesn't want to give up her first born child, but considers what will be a very hard choice for her to do regarding her unborn baby. She thinks the baby would be cared for by her as being a full time live-in nanny spending her time loving it and devoting herself completely to it. The couple tells Eve she can move in right away and she can change her mind at any time if she decides against going through the adoption. See this is the predictable part, but happily, this is so much more than what it appears in this synopsis or this paragraph. I wouldn't have rated it over four stars if things didn't go into a totally different multi-faceted fast paced plot driven story of being a much more complex and unpredictable narrative.

This was formatted in my favorite way, also offering well above average writing. There were short, concise chapters that made this easily a one sitting reading experience. At the end of each chapter it was suspenseful storytelling that had cliffhangers making it hard to stop. Plus, there's something about the short chapters written to carry the story forward with intriguing twists and an unexpected pulse pounding narrative that is impossible to set aside. I would caution that there are sensitive issues that I would like to include, but would be a total spoiler for those who love not knowing from reading a review what to expect, especially in the mystery-thriller category. It's too big of a giveaway to mention and I would feel terrible to ruin it for any reader who has this awaiting them on their "to be read," list. It isn't any of the regular triggers, but it does happen and my hint is it usually happens on a level involving a multiple number of people. This had an epilogue which I'm not crazy about, but in this case it's terrific because it contains a whopper of a twist that was really imaginative, and it really made me rethink everything that I read for most of the book. I really did love this and I'll be recommending it to mystery-thriller fans. This deserves to reach as wide of an audience as possible. I think that in terms of women or men deciding whether to read this or not. Maybe women would relate to this more, but it would be a great choice for both genders, since it's a page turner and just an amazing, unputdownable, reading experience. You probably think you know how this common trope is developed, but it's totally impossible to guess until revealed at the end. I would rate it between 4.25--4.50 wonderful Stars!

I could not put this one down! Finished in less than 24hrs! We start off with Eve who has found the love of her life, is ready to start over in a new town with a new hobby of sailing. Quickly her world crumbles and she must decide what to do with her life and if she wants to bring a child into this world when she unexpectedly is given an offer that she cannot pass up. It did seem too good to be true and then little changes began to occur making her question all her decisions. I want to say more but don't want to ruin it for other readers! Highly recommend!!!

This was a quick and twisty novel that was fun to read. Toward the middle it got a bit clunky/muddy as it revealed to the reader what was behind all the mystery; almost lost me tbh but they the author seemed to find their footing again and things became more clear. 3.5stars, rounded up to 4. A worthwhile read and I plan to read more from the author

No One Will Know is just one insane twist after another. If you think you know what’s going to happen next, no you don’t. Every time I thought I had the whole plot figured out, I was proved wrong.

Carlyle is an incredible writer - not only did she create a brilliant psychological suspense plot, but also wrote extremely well developed characters. Despite her naïveté and astonishing ability to keep rationalizing the actions of those around her, I loved Eve and was rooting for her. I also detested Julia and Zelde with an absolute passion.

This type of wild ride, don’t know who to trust, everyone’s got an agenda is exactly what I look for in a thriller. Highly recommend!

*thanks to netgalley for an early copy to read and review. This review is my opinion only.

Rose's debut book The Girl in the Mirror in 2021 was one of the first books I read when I got back into reading. I really enjoyed it.

She's back with another banging psychological thriller that takes you on a wild ride from the first chapter all the way to the end.
