The Other Woman - by Holly Down
4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
‘David and Kitty used to be the golden couple that everyone wanted to be. But as Kitty sits in the dark corner of a crowded bar and watches his arm wrap around the waist of his beautiful younger colleague, Nina, her worst nightmare is confirmed: her husband is having an affair.’
Things I loved about this book:
• The use of descriptive language, constantly creating detailed mental images. I could picture every single thing in each scene like I was there myself.
• The author evokes emotions as you read each chapter, engaging all of your senses at once.
• By chapter 2 I’d already fallen in love with the authors clever and witty writing style and will be adding every single one of her books to my TBR!
• I felt so invested in every character, even the secondary characters that were only mentioned a few times. The author has the ability to make you feel like you have a rapport straight away with every single character.
• Just when you think you know exactly how the story is going to unfold, the plot takes a twist and takes you down a completely different path!
Readers who enjoy unreliable narrators such as ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘The Woman in the Window’ will love this book!

Really laborious story. I don't love the characters and almost nothing really made sense. No spoilers but a huge part of why I didn't like it was that it had some sexist themes and characterizations. Big even happens at 40% through and then everything rushes to a conclusion at 90%. This one just wasn't for me.
Thank you #netgalley for the ARC

📖📖 Book Review 📖📖 How does a couple once so in love become such strangers to one another? Told in the dual points of view of Kitty and David, The Other Woman is such an intimate glimpse into their flailing marriage, the reader almost feels like the other woman while reading their most private thoughts and feelings. But the guilt only lasts a second because we quickly meet the actual other woman in their marriage, Nina, and the secrets and lies only escalate and form an absolute unputdownable novel! Page after page will leave an deliciously unsettled feeling to trust no one! The Other Woman is a gripping, fast-paced book that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Review is posted on Goodreads and will be on Instagram ahead of the publication date!

This was my first book by this author and I have to admire the way she confused me from the beginning. I thought I had it all crystal clear in my mind, but boy oh boy was I wrong.
A bit later I had another shocking AHA moment or so I thought and yes, wrong again.
This story is filled with such moments and each time I though now I know, I had to realise the author had me by the nose once more.
Lying and cheating seems the to go to method for some of the characters, some realising their mistake and regretting having hurt someone. Others just simply continuing as there was not a cloud in the sky.
Sometimes people can hold a grudge for a very long time, whilst pretending to be the best version of themselves. Unfortunately one day they will run out of luck.
When everything seems ok at the outside, does this mean everything is ok on the inside too???
I enjoyed reading this book , being taken on a journey full of confusion until I reached a place filled with bright lights when everything was being revealed. 5 stars
Thank you

This book oh my god! What an absolutely outstanding book! I swear I was on the edge of my seat, turning the pages like lightning trying to reach the end to find out what was happening. So many times I thought I'd figured out what happened and BOOM another twist. That ending holy smokes! I'm in shock.

thanks to NetGalley and BookOuture for this ARC in exchange of an honest review!
This was a DNF for me.. I made it 30% in and absolutely nothing is happening.. the storyline is boring and the characters are extremely immature for my taste. I was just very bored.

This book was intriguing…mysterious…I had a difficult time keeping track of 5e characters…some were in disguise…the names confused me…the story was a page turner…friends and family…secrets and red herrings…I did not guess the ending…I am still wondering what really happened. This author gave me moments of pause and moments to guess….Netgalley

David and Kitty are the “golden couple “. They are going through a rough patch, and one evening Kitty follows Matt, and sees him go home with a colleague. The next morning Kitty wakes up hung over in a park, and the female colleague is dead, with David the last one to have seen her. What happened? And how do their Oxford clique fit into this?
Twists, turns, tension built throughout. It was a bit difficult to keep the characters straight/how they fit together initially which was a bit confusing- but it was definitely worth getting through it! Everything was eventually woven together, with completely unexpected twists.
Thank you to author, publisher, NetGalley for advanced copy. This is an honest voluntary review.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of The Other Woman by Holly Down due to be published June 7, 2024.
David and Kitty were once the “golden couple”. That was before Kitty suspected David of having an affair with Nina, his co-worker. When David doesn’t come home one night, Kitty drowns her sorrows and wakes up to find out she can’t remember a thing about the night. When Nina turns up murdered, who will be to blame?
What a twisted mess this was! It kept me interested and wondering until the shocking ending. At first it was hard to keep the characters straight, but when I had them figured out, they all intertwined with each other to keep the story engaging. Did not see the ending coming at all – which I love with psychological thrillers!
This was my first book by Holly Down – I found out she has another one, The Courier, which I will definitely be reading!
