I was not expecting what happened in the first book - but I read it really quickly because it was so engaging. This one very good, too - it picks up where Angelfall ends, but there's more teen angst in this one, which is not my favorite thing.... however, after Penryn and Raffe reunite, the action really picks up and, since Penryn still must save her sister, I need to get the final installment!

Thank you for allowing me to read the advanced copy of this novel! I enjoyed reading this whole series, it definitely didn't take me long to devour them all, they were that good! All in all, a great series to read!

These books are definitely plot driven. The plot, though not overly original, is well weaved and keeps you turning the pages and wondering... "omg! What’s next?" The characters are witty and layered. The romance is understated since this is not a romance book. Raff, the love interest, doesn’t say much throughout the entire book but the scarce dialogs between him and Penryn are entertaining.

WORLD AFTER by Susan Ee is the second book in a young adult dystopian trilogy. It picks up right where the first book ANGELFALL leaves off, and follows Penryn as she fights to keep her family safe in the World After. When the book begins, Penryn is with her mother and sister at the new Resistance base camp. Yet things soon go horribly wrong when her sister Paige needs to find food before she starves in her new, altered body. Penryn must survive one horror after the next as she attempts to find and save Paige.

Similar to the first book, WORLD AFTER is replete with twists and turns. Just when you think things can't get worse, they certainly do. I appreciate that in this second book readers finally learn a bit more about what's going on with the angels, and why they invaded earth. Plus, we find out more about the scorpions and their purpose. I still feel like there are a lot of missing details, but because the book is so action-packed, I find that I can ignore the lack of information, and just enjoy the story for what it is.

Moreover, Ee does a great job at writing complex characters. For instance, Paige has a really interesting storyline in this second book. We get to find out more of what happened to her when she was kidnapped by the angels, and both readers and Penryn get to see her in a new light despite her altered state. The same is true for other characters as well - we get to find out more of their backstories in unique ways, and it helps to round out the book.

Overall, I look forward to continuing on with the last book in the series. I have no idea how things will be resolved, but I'm absolutely hoping for the Penryn and Raffe romance to come to life. Of course, there is part of me worried for what will happen, since Ee does not shy away from heart-wrenching moments!

Great second book. Really enjoy the world building in the first book and think the writing is well thought out.

World After is a lot of things. For instance, World After is thrilling. There are parts in this sequel that made me cringe, had me in awe, had me laughing. There are so many emotions following this novel. I didn't read the first book in the series. Penryn is so freaking badass, I love seeing characters like her. The world that is World After is certainly a horrifying one, and having your world being invaded by angels and these creatures that the angels made is down right freaky. Highly suggest the book!

I loved the first book in the Penryn & the End of days series. It took me forever to get to readd this one though for some reason. I believe this is a solid fantasy series that gets overlooked quite a bit. the characters are well devolped and it's overall just a great series. 4 stars.

World After is the second book in the Penryn & the End of Days series. I loved the first book, Angelfall, and was worried that World After would not live up to the first installment but it did. I don't know what else to say other than that I really enjoyed this series and look forward to reading more from Susan Ee.

In my review for 'Angelfall' I said "it is, and - if Susan keeps up the good work - in fact foreseeably the whole series is one of the few brightest treasures of YA fantasy literature".

To quote my favorite Colonel "I love it when a plan comes together". How is this relevant now? Well, Susan Ee just wrote the best sequel ever, no doubt in my mind.

In this installment almost all of our burning questions, which remained after the ending of Angelfall are answered. Also we get to peek behind the Angels' curtain. It is adventurous, action-packed, thrilling, engaging, tragic, but still comical, and I think it is darker than the previous one, even though Angelfall isn't for the faint of heart either. I love that Susan had balls of steel and wrote somthing so dark, horroristic yet fantastic YA book and I love that her publisher had balls to publish it. Despite its horroristic elements, this is a beautiful story about family, selflessness, courage, and the importance of cohesion. The emphasis is not on the romance, but our ship is undeniably and safely floating still.

The World After enthralls readers with familiar heroes and enemies, all-new adventures and excitement, new allies, inimitable jokes and brilliant twists. It's only flaw is that it's over!

Just not for me. I couldn't get into the story. May try again at a later date.

I read the first book in this trilogy a few years ago, and looking at my review I really enjoyed it. After finishing the second book, which I have also enjoyed, I can honestly say I cannot remember a single thing from the first book.

This book was well written and action packed. Strong female character and the plot moves along nicely. Shame I can't remember the first book, I think I would enjoyed this even more if I did.

Another one that I didn't realize was a sequel and I didn't have the first book so this just never got read. Sorry about that. I do wish you would have those who put the books on here make sure the reader knows it's a sequel as the blurbs often don't imply that.

I liked the first one better for the most part. Maybe because we had more Raffe then. But I did like learning more about the Angel Sword and how it works/what it can do. Also great to get a glimpse it Raffe's past. I am glad we learn a bit more what happened to her sister even though it is so sad. Also a bit better idea of the crazy mother. I half wonder about her.... Also what Uriel might be up to. Oh, the conspiracies!!! It left me hungry for the next book!

I think this was an exciting, well written series, but a bit too mature for my audience of junior high students. I will make sure my public library has it though!
