The Accomplice reminded me of a SA Crosby book. It followed Texas Ranger tracking a missing person to solve her case. I did enjoy it, I just didn’t love it. I’ll check out the next in the series though.

It kept interested the entire…I had to know how it would play out and how everything was connected. There’s a lot of action that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I 💯 agree that if you like S.A Cosby’s book you should check this one out. I used my 👀 to read this but I hear that 50 narrates so that might interest some people.

⚠️ Trigger warnings:
It’s important to go into this book knowing there are somethings that happen that night make you want to skip this one including violence, mention of rape, and description of murder.

Thanks to Netgalley and Amistad for a copy of The Accomplice in exchange of an honest review.

4.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .5 stars! Thanks to NetGalley for this arc! Nia Andrews, is black, female Texas Ranger was put on a bank heist case, but what was stolen wasn’t money. Desmond Bell was the person who robbed the bank and she needs to find out what he stole, who he stole it for and why.

The more that Nia investigates this case, the more she finds out that what is going on is bigger than what she thought it is.

If you like fast paced thrillers with a really good plot and a lot of action and suspense told in multiple POVs and multiple timelines, I definitely recommend this book.

What sins are they willing to bear?

Almost 20 years ago, Nia Adams was the first black female Texas Ranger, dedicated to the job and excellent at what she did. Her team was called to a bank robbery in progress, one in which the criminals had the advantage of superior fire power and the tactical advantage of higher ground. Law enforcement officers including some from Nia’s team are injured or killed, but she and her squad leader Ranger Josiah Powers make it inside the building and ultimately shoot all four of the robbers. Three are dead, but one is alive and willing to surrender and cooperate. Powers instead orders the wounded man to pick up his weapon, and when the man does Powers shoots him dead. When Nia is debriefed by her commander Lt. Mitch McCann she tells him the truth of what happened, but it is not what he wants to hear and is not what Powers is saying either. Nia is an honest cop, but lacking support or evidence feels she has no choice but to go along with Powers’ story. Soon after, with an internal investigation launched over the bank robbery looming, McCann sends Nia away from the city to the small town of Waxahachie, scene of another bank robbery (albeit a highly unusual one) at the Colonial Trust. No money was taken, just the unknown contents of an old safe that few even knew was there. Neither the bank manager nor the local police think its a big deal until Hakeem Fletcher, the security guard who was wounded in the robbery, ends up slaughtered in his home along with his wife and teenage daughter. Was there a connection between Fletch and whoever staged the robbery? What was in the safe? And who is the mysterious Bartholomew Katz who turned up in Waxahachie when Nia did but disappeared soon after? A wealthy and powerful Texas family whose son is about to mount a run for the White House, a shadowy group known as the Fraternal Order of Thieves, and a Vietnam vet who supposedly died with his family in a car crash all seem to be part of whatever happened…and her search for the truth may cost Nia not just her career but her life, even 20 years later.
I decided to read this book based on a blurb from author S. A. Crosby, whose crime novels I have found amongst the best I’ve read in recent years, but wasn’t sure what to expect. I was, quite frankly, blown away. Once I started I could not put the book down, drawn to the strong and well-developed characters and the mystery at the heart of the investigation. Nia has a lot to prove, both to herself and to the people with whom she serves…as a non-native Texan who is black and female, she has shattered some ceilings just to become a Ranger, and she is determined to prove to all doubters that she can do the job as well if not better than anyone else. Desmond Bell, a known bank robber whose career has shifted into other harder to understand thefts, is living in a rented room in a less-than-desirable part of town, executing his latest assignment while struggling to overcome the personal losses in his past and dealing with his attraction to the woman who is his landlord all while keeping his past hidden from the world. Corruption, the good-ole-boys network, and the unfortunate realities of unequal justice in the world all contribute to this tale of a man permanently altered by war and a good cop who fights to do the right thing regardless of what its costs her. Fans of authors S. A. Crosby (whom I thank for writing the blurb that attracted me to The Accomplice in the first place), Greg Iles and Stephen Hunter should absolutely put this novel on the top of their TBR pile. Many thanks to NetGalley and Amistad Press for allowing me early access to this fantastic, gritty novel.

3⭐️

This was action packed and didn’t hold back. POVs alternated between Ranger Adams, professional thief Desmond, and horrid hitman Mr. Klatz. Adams find herself mixed in with some of the worst of the worst criminals and put in positions what put her career in jeopardy.

I liked Ranger Adams and Desmond. Mr.Klatz was so terrifyingly well written he gave me nightmares if I read right before bed. He had zero heart and wasn’t phased by killing anyone, if anything he enjoyed it.

Overall I liked the storyline and characters, but minor lack of fact checking distracted me. At one point someone is described as previously being Justin Bieber’s bodyguard…in 2004. Justin was 10 had hadn’t recorded anything yet. That type of mistakes irks me. I’d still recommend this book for anyone who enjoys high paced action, lots of bad guys, and isn’t squeamish with detailed murders/attempts.

Thank you to NetGalley and Amistad for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. This review will be shared on NetGalley, Goodreads, and Amazon.

A small town Texas bank is robbed. It had to be an inside job. The Accomplice is easily identified by Texas Ranger Nia. But who is the robber and what is his underlying plan? Who is the mysterious stranger who appears in town to investigate the crime? And who is his employer?

Nia and the robber play a cat and mouse game throughout most of the book narrating their own story in alternating chapters. While both characters have interesting backstories, The Accomplice did drag a bit in the middle. However, the conclusion was satisfying and leaves the door open for a sequel. 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars!

Thanks to NetGalley and Amistad for providing me with an advanced review copy.

I am not a fan of 50 Cents but I really enjoyed this book! I am a series girl and I think this is going to be a good one. I love the way it ended and left us hanging and cannot wait to read the next book! Looking forward to more adventures with Nia Adams!

This wasn’t bad. I’m looking forward to the follow-up. I’m super excited about that.

The only real let down with this one for me is that the story/action started to drag a little…but overall it’s action packed and easy to read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Amistad, Aaron Phillip Clark, and of course Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for allowing me the opportunity to read this book ahead of publication.

I must preface this by saying that the main driving factor for requesting this book was seeing 50 Cent’s name on the cover. I had average expectations going into the book, I’m not a big crime reader, I mainly stick to fantasy books, but after reading the synopsis, I was intrigued.

I really liked the different POVs used throughout the book, although some of it felt a little slow when we were presented with Katz’s POV. However his POV did add some of the teeth clenching tension that I wanted from the book.

I liked Nia’s character a lot. I would like to read more about her, honestly. She has a lot of potential for a prequel style book, as I got invested in her come up when the narrator would provide tidbits from her past - especially with Sharon.

I was kind of on the fence with Desmond, not because he wasn’t a good character - he very much was. I can’t really pin point what it was initially that made me feel meh about him, but the plot twist with Fletch made my view on him flip 180 and I was locked in from there.

One thing that made me laugh whilst reading this was Big Ed. I might just be chronically online, but I couldn’t not picture *that* Big Ed when we were presented with him during Desmond’s chapter later in the book. It made the mental image of him being hit in the gut with the gun very amusing, I can’t lie.

Overall a very solid book that I’m going to be heavily recommending to everyone I know who likes crime novels.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I saw the author and thought I definitely had to give it go and I was not disappointed. The characters, plot and speed of the book were excellent. I do hope there is a sequel.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.

Let me say, my expectations were high, because I like Power, so I had high expectations for this read and boy did it deliver! The ending was a perfect set up for a sequel book which I loved. Only thing is I thought Nia's boss was gonna be involved or dirty but seems like I was wrong. This was a great read! I am looking forward to seeing more from 50 Cent as a fiction writer!

Let me start by saying the multitalented Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has no limitations. I love how he tries any and every avenue of the entertainment business: music, television and now literature. This new fiction debut titled The Accomplice is co-written by mystery author Aaron Philip Clark. It introduces readers to Nia Adams, the first Black female Texas Ranger.

Nia knows the dangers of the job. After all, she has always dreamt of becoming a Texas Ranger even though she was born in New York. Like any other job, there are politics and risks. But she has never encountered a criminal like Desmond Bell, a vet turned thief that steals the secrets of the rich and blackmails them for millions. When Desmond steals from the Duchamps, the wealthiest most powerful family in the country, Nia's investigation might be the end of her life and career.

I was around page 66 when I realized the action been jumping from page one! Then it slowed down and I grew a bit bored of the cat-and-mouse game. The story lost the suspense and cruised to a blah end. Perhaps it would translate better on-screen. Since The Accomplice was just okay, I would still recommend that mystery readers try it. You may find it holds your attention longer than it did mine.

Happy Early Pub Day, 50 Cent and Aaron Philip Clark! The Accomplice will be available Tuesday, September 3.

I was pleasantly surprised that I liked this book as much as I did. I saw the author and knew I had to read this. It was a quick read and I enjoyed reading the character of Nia Adams. I did not like the ending at all! I am really hoping there will be a sequel coming.

Thank you NetGalley and Amistad for the copy of The Accomplice by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. I requested this book on a whim and I’m glad I did! The story was engrossing and ended up being multi-layered and more emotional than I expected. If you like action-packed stories with characters that come alive on the page, this book is for you.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson teams up with the fantastic Aaron Philip Clark to deliver a dark, gritty and propulsive thriller that packs a vicious punch. Once you pick up The Accomplice, you won’t be able to put it down and it’ll stick with you long after completion.

Nia Adams is the first Black female Texas Ranger who not only has to catch dangerous criminals, but also must navigate the complicated politics of her organization. Her latest case takes her to a bank robbery where nothing seems to be missing. The vault is untouched and the tellers not asked to empty their registers, but a hidden safe in a small room has been breached. Turns out a Vietnam vet turned master thief has removed the contents of that safe, which threatens to expose a wealthy family’s dirty secrets. A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues. Resulting in a pile of dead bodies, Nia’s career in jeopardy and, most importantly, her life in grave danger.

This book will smack you upside the head with crisp, gruesome action sequences and gallons of bloodshed. Seriously, the violence is no joke. Brutal and lurid, intense and evoking a powerful reaction. But whether you enjoy that kind of maliciousness or not, you’ll find you’re sticking around for the well-crafted nuances of the characters. These are complex individuals with very different pasts, motivations, and proclivities. It’s not as simple as cops vs. robbers. And that’s what makes this book so compelling and entertaining. Well…that along with the relentless action and blind siding twists.

The Accomplice is an exhilarating read. All gas, no breaks. Looking forward to more collaborations between 50 Cent and APC. Have a feeling they have more in store for thriller fans.

The Accomplice was a good mystery/thriller that had good characters, a twisty plot, and plenty of action. The 2 main characters: Nia(Texas Ranger) and Desmond(former Marine/thief) keep the action/story interesting. The book tells the story of these two people from the past and how their lives intersect. I can definitely see a follow up book to this one, because of how it ended.
Thanks to Amistad and NetGalley for the ARC and I recommend this book.

This was a fast paced thriller that you can tell wasn’t written by mayweather. Fifty cent did a great job keeping me interested in the story. I love his shows so I had high hopes for a book and he delivered. The character development is great and the story flows nicely!

The two main characters are Nia and Desmond, a Texas ranger, and a cold blooded killer. The rap references gave the reader a sense of having things in common with the characters.
