This was such an enjoyable romp through the woods. The characters feel so real and I had such a fun time. Would recommend!

This book was hard for me because it felt like it was trying too hard to be two sides of the same coin.
On one side, we have an epic fantasy element with the four people who are responsible for saving everyone. On the other, we have what feels to be a forced romantic element.
I am not sure if it was the book or me, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

It is an unusual book in which the hero dies between the first and second chapter. Galwell the Great lead his band of four on a quest to rescue his fiancee, Princess Thessia, who had been kidnapped by the Fraternal Order, in their devious plot to take over the world of Mythria. Along with Galwell, is his sister Elowen, her best friend Beatrice and Clare Grandhart, hero in training, all with some type of mystical power. While they rescue the princess and kill the bad guy, the grief and guilt of losing Galwell, spins them off into different directions. Ten years later the princess, now queen, demands that they attend her at her wedding. But when they get there they find that Hugh, the queen's fiancee has been kidnapped, by the same nut jobs, who had kidnapped her ten years earlier. So another quest, with Elowen's former lover, Vandria, rounding out their numbers. Except for Clare, I found the other characters annoying, and the constant bickering between the banter, not much of a quest. While second chances are my favorite trope, I really didn't care enough about the characters to care if they got back together or not. Sorry to say that this was not one of the best books that I have read so far this year.
I was gifted with an Advanced Reader's Copy from the publisher via NetGalley.com. This was my honest, unbiased and voluntary review.

This had so much potential and I was super excited for it! However, it was extremely long, full of sadness, and had insufferable characters.

Not the book for me! But I do think regular fantasy readers would probably enjoy this, and should give it a try!

Admittedly, I put off reading this book for longer than I should have. What a wonderful story!
The title says it all - this book is fun. So much fun! I was instantly intrigued by the story, with a world that is relate-able (mostly humans), but just magical enough to give it that separation.
It can be difficult for an author to appropriately balance multiple points of view, but Asher does it incredibly well. With the perspectives of three of THE FOUR, multiple genders & personalities, this story is rich, funny, and engaging.
The storyline itself is unique, and there are enough twists and developments in the past story, continuing with the current events. Asher built a wonderful world, with interpersonal relationships that begin as tenuous at best. The reunion of the Four had the potential to unravel beyond what it initially did. However, without spoilers, they were able to hold and heal.
Truly, this was a wonderful, engaging, and fun fantasy!

Couldn't get into this one. Looked promising but my trusted book bestie says skip this one, so skip it I shall.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion!
"This Will Be Fun is a slow burn, cozy quest romantasy with Shrek and The Princess Bride vibes featuring:
Second chance romance
Found family
Questmates-with-benefits
Friends to enemies to friends (to lovers?)
Slow burn"
This description is what really drew me into requesting this book and oof! A fun, quick read that had all of the above elements PLUS a heaping of sapphic love that was just *chef's kiss*. Was the writing a little disjointed at times? Yes, BUT I think that can happen when there's multiple authors writing the story, especially if that number happens to be THREE (my jaw did drop a little upon seeing that, I'm used to one or two max, except in cases of anthologies or translated works). Some reviewers said that some of the modern language/references used threw them off, which I agree with, but I also took it in stride and remembered it's really just meant to be a cozy, fun read. If that is the vibe you're looking for in your next book, read on!

I struggled to get into this one. This had everything in a book that I should love. I was immediately caught by the idea of a Princess Bride-esque story telling device...but alas...for me, this didn't have the same magic. It was fine. It was ok. It also was very possible I wasn't in the mood for this, as I know others have read and loved this.

This is a must-read book I don't want to give any spoilers, but you won't regret getting this book, you won't put it down till you're done reading the whole this.

This was a fun read and I liked the originality of the story. The past and present timeline was interesting and always makes me want to keep reading to find out what happened and was is going to happen. I liked the characters and the setting of the story. Super fun and would recommend to fantasy lovers!

Very fun romp of a book. Gave DND, fantasy, and romance vibes. There were some things not for me. But this held my attention.

Story Rating: ⭐️⭐️ (0-5)
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧 (0-5)
Overall: 3/5
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥 (0-5) open-door but only a couple of scenes and not many details
What I’m Starry-Eyed Over:
🤩 The three different narrators for the three MCs is such a treat. Narrated by Alexander Cendese, January LaVoy, & Hope Newhouse.
🤩 I didn’t mind the two separate couples, the two different second chances.
🤩 I felt the longing for all of them to be love for each other.
🤩 Beautiful LGBTQIA+ representation with one of the couples.
🤩 Steamy moment for one of the couples is in a magical tent.
🤩 I like the romantasy world—it looks like scenes and travel of historical English countryside, but magical. But it also has caves, so maybe it’s more like the Scottish Highlands.
🤩 When the copycat Clares help them fight.
What I’m Wishing/Dizzy About:
💫 The plot is interesting, how the couples are connected by history, but it feels long and
💫 I loved the main side character Vandra more than the three main characters—she’s like the breath of fresh air in this story.
💫 The steamy moment with one of the pairs is a bit disappointing after waiting 80% of the book for them to finally be together in their second chance.
💫 The PTSD for these characters seemed to be played down.
Thanks to Avon Books for the #gifted ebook and paperback. I bought the audiobook with one of my Libro.fm credits.

Decent random read, threw this out there as a chance read had a vague interest and did enjoy my time with this book and have since enjoyed seeing it

Fittingly, this book was a lot of fun. Sometimes in a book like this, there will be characters that are clearly overreacting and holding unnecessary grudges, but everyone here seemed to be behaving pretty reasonably based on the information they had.

When I read the acknowledgments of this book and realized it was actually written by three different people, everything clicked into place. The writing styles between the different authors were noticeably different, and I found I enjoyed the final third or so of the book much more than the other parts (aside from the ending because what was that?). I actually fell into a reading slump after I got about half way through, and after several weeks of not being able to convince myself to touch this or any book, I finally finished it (and rather enjoyed the climaxes of the romances).
Some things in this story just didn’t make sense, but it was fun to read at times. Like, the world could end at any time but let’s have a sexy bath tub scene? It’s fun but also where is the logic?
This book is fun but it doesn’t take itself seriously so neither should you. It’s “shut-off-your-brain-and-have-fun” reading, which I enjoy sometimes. Just wish the writing was consistently good. And the ending kind of invalidates the entire story and the characters’ growth up to that point. Could have been so much better!

What happens after the quest is over?
Ten years ago, they saved the kingdom, but the whole “happily ever after” part didn’t quite work out. Now they find themselves reunited for a royal wedding and, well…things once again don’t go quite as planned.
This is an irreverent quest story that doesn’t take itself too seriously. There is a mix of medieval and modern vibes. Think along the lines of Shrek, The Princess Bride, or A Knight’s Tale. There are multiple POVs and multiple romantic subplots with a little spice. This one of those books where it’s best not to read into things too closely—just go along with it.

This was honestly such a great epic adventure read with second chance romance and friends turned strangers opening back together, resolving their b*llsh**, and uniting to save the kingdom once again.
If there had been a first book, it would have been epic fantasy adventure, but the second chance thing is always cozier. The author handled the world building through the lens of times passed and it was well done and subtle without being so overbearing it detracted from the story, which tends to happen. This was just great. I really loved it.
Thank you to Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an ebook copy in exchange for an honest review!

3.5 stars, rounded up!
This Will Be Fun is a cozy quest romantasy with Shrek and The Princess Bride vibes featuring:

Queer representation
Three amazing narrators
This was such a fun listen!! As someone who loved the creativity and coziness of Assistant to the Villain, I enjoyed this one as well. It was a cool take on heroes and what happens after they save the world.
There were two romantic relationships going on and three points of view. I skipped the spice. There were only two scenes, but I felt like it wasn't necessary to the plot. Clare is so funny. Elowen is a hermit. Beatrice is down on her luck. Time to get the gang back together!
Blurb: Ten years ago, they saved the realm—and it ruined their lives. Now, three former heroes must reunite, and hopefully live to tell the tale, in this charming romantasy about friendship and redemption, perfect for readers of Legends & Lattes and Assistant to the Villain.
Everyone in Mythria knows the story of how best friends Beatrice and Elowen, handsome ex-bandit Clare, and valiant leader Galwell the Great defended the realm from darkness. It’s a tale beloved by all—except them. They haven’t spoken in a decade, devastated by what their quest cost them.
This won't be for everyone, but it was clever and heartwarming to me and the narrators really brought it to life!

if nothing else, this wins the title of fastest dnf at 6%. Wasn't gelling with the writing, and I realized the anachronisms were going to get to me, and I decided that no thank you! this one isn't for me.
Thank you to Avon and NetGalley for a chance to read and review.
