Did not enjoy. Title is misleading, this was painful. I’ll continue to get my Princess Bride vibes from the Assistant to the Villian series. It felt like there was no focus on adventure as promised, but on slow burn romances that seemed out of place.

10 years after The Four saved the realm with the ultimate sacrifice, the remaining three heroes have made their lives as separate as possible, not speaking to each other and adamantly claiming that that's how they'd prefer to continue. But the Queen's upcoming wedding forces them to travel together and face new challenges. Will they be able to save the realm once again when old wounds get reopened and truths are revealed?
It's an incredibly fun, creative, and entertaining story that takes a look at what happens to the heroes after the quest has come to an end. It's amusing that they all have individual quirks that make them uniquely entertaining, all while you also get to see the trauma of surviving what they went through without ever getting too dark and ruining the cozy fantasy vibes. Beatrice, Clare, and Elowen are all distinct characters with definitive character growth that really reflects their maturity and acceptance.
I got hooked by the characters and their relationships and the fact that the story somehow manages to be silly despite some dark elements. Kudos to Asher for writing a story where there is so much going on at all times that still manages to be all about the characters.
Delighted thanks to NetGalley and Avon for the wonderful read!

Fantasy is not normally my jam but I really liked this book a lot! It was a fantasy adventure with some romance thrown in. The world building was easy to follow - nothing too tedious or over explained. A very character-driven story. Modern and humorous - sort of Princess Bride-y. Three authors wrote this and I felt like sometimes I could tell a little...like it wasn't as smoothly delivered as I would expect. Overall a fun diversion!

This Will Be Fun is a really light-hearted fantasy adventure that also deals with some heavy topics like grief! I think it balances this all really well, for a character-driven novel that had me SO invested. Truly a fun read, with great relationships!
Thanks to E. B. Asher, NetGalley, and Avon and Harper Voyager for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own!

Fantasy romance. Romantasy. This is a genre I read often enjoy but this was a miss for me. Everyone hated each other and then didn’t. It felt dumb and silly some will look for that in a book.

The plot felt so light in comparison to everything. It really doesn’t start until almost halfway through, and even then, it just fell a bit short. I also found I didn’t really like any of the characters. A big disappointment

I want to introduce this review by stating that I read this entire book during a transatlantic flight. It was either this or staring into nothingness because my screen was not working. This means that I took absolutely no breaks, which could have led to my fatigue over this story.
My favourite part of the story was its setting. The worldbuilding was fun and very reminiscent of Ella Enchanted (movie) with modernity being interwoven with your typical European medieval-inspired world. The characters were also fun and got themselves into hilarious situations, so it was not only easy to connect and relate to them, but it was also very entertaining.
The main problem of this book is how heavy it is on the romance plotlines. I was not aware that this would be mostly focusing on these two couples, which is definitely on me. While we had what I would consider to be high stakes (end of the world and the likes), there was no match in the urgency of these characters to solve these problems and it was definitely on the backseat throughout this quest that was mainly about mending relationships (platonic and amorous).
I did like how the book got resolved though and the ending definitely brought it up for me, but the journey until that moment was definitely underwhelming for me, personally.

The title of this book promises fun, and it definitely delivered.
Exploring the aftermath of a fantasy crew's quest to save their world is a premise I always enjoy, and never see enough. This one dives into the lasting trauma that the members endured, not to mentioned their strained relationships with each other.
This book follows two couples, Elowen & Vandra and Beatrice & Clare, and honestly, I'm not sure which one I loved more. I am such a sucker for a second chance romance, and given that this one delivered me not one, but two relationships that I couldn't help rooting for to reconcile, I was fully immersed, simply dying for it to happen. Beatrice and Clare delivered on all the angst and drama, constantly bickering while also having such fun chemistry. Elowen and Vandra were more of a comfort couple in contrast with Beatrice and Clare's tension. Vandra seems determined to win Elowen back, and I loved how flirtatious she was with her.
I think that this book needs to be listened to on audio for the best experience, because each narrator does a great job at bringing their respective character to life. This is the perfect audiobook to immerse yourself into as well due to the way the story is constantly moving forward. Between the group's journey, the relationships that need to be mended, and the quests that pop up along the way, I was never bored (in fact, I found it hard to do anything else while I was listening to the audiobook).
If you enjoy the fairytale world-building of Shrek and the humor of The Princess Bride, then this is one you need to check out (ON AUDIO).

This book is a sweet mix of comedy and adventure in this cozy romance novel! I have been on a cozy novel kick recently and this book was perfect for that. This book gave me Sherk or Scooby Doo vivbes. Fantasy with a good bit of humor.

While I really tried, I just didn’t find myself engaged in this story. I think it just wasn’t for me, but I think many will enjoy.

A fun, quick read that I thought was fine/ good. I enjoyed it enough to give it a 3 star but didn't love it. I would recommend to my friends as a palate cleaner.

This book was interesting, and I use that supremely vague word on purpose, because I don’t know that this book was certain of what it wanted to be. Part questing epic, part magical fantasy, part romance, part comedy, part ponderance of grief… the list goes on. I think, in most books, that’s a good thing. To be able to achieve so much, to convey so much to a reader and make them feel so many things; that is no small feat, and when done well, should be commended.
The problem is, I am not certain that this book executed all of its desired goals all too well. It comes down to tone, which I think is my biggest gripe with the book. I followed along with the plot well enough, and the characters felt alive and true to me. But as I kept reading, I felt a bit of whiplash as we staggered between utterly comical scenes full of over-the-top banter, to scenes meant to make us feel heartbreak over the immense grief that the main characters suffered with. It made it hard to feel ANY of the desired emotions, because we kept pingponging between the two. Plus, the romance felt very lusty, and while I am a bonafide lover of smut, sometimes the sex scenes felt really…misplaced? Badly timed?
Basically, I wished the authors had chosen a single tonal lens for the book, whether light or dark (or even somewhere in the middle) and stuck with it. As it was, I couldn’t fully invest in the story, because I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to be reading it. Even given all this, some aspects of the story really were enjoyable, and I do not want to discount that, so 3⭐️ for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!
I have it a try and it seemed interesting, but some aspects fell a little flat for me.

Gave it a try. Not that much fun really. Humorous but genre was not for me. Thanks for the opportunity to review.

I loved the premise of this one – what becomes of heroes after they’ve completed their heroic quest? But the execution just wasn’t quite as strong as I wanted it to be. The characters were promising, and I do like how different their situations were at the beginning of the work. But they never really had that depth/development to make them really come to life, which also made the romance plots feel even more lackluster than they could have. About half of the “plot” of the work is also about the MCs being angsty, yearning for each other, complaining about their love lives, and reminiscing.
Modern phrases were used throughout, which is a big turn-off for me in a work of fantasy (even light fantasy). The humor was also quite modern, rather than fitting in the medieval-esque world that the tale is set in, which also clashed. Magic was used to emulate modern technology, but not really in clever ways, more in ways that weren’t explained and felt somewhat lazy overall.
I really don’t recommend reading this one unless you don’t mind very light fantasy that feels like modern slapstick comedy. My thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book was a cozy fantasy read that is so different from everything else I’ve read. It was a bit difficult for me to get through, but I enjoyed it!

This book starts out cozy fantasy then gets more adventurous fantasy then gets real cozy again. I really enjoyed watching the characters evolve over the course of the book. They'd all spent ten years apart then in spending a new quest together they all grew together, which highlights our human need for community.
I liked that the book didn't take itself too seriously, which is possibly my favorite characteristic of cozy fantasy as a subgenre. I would gladly order my morning brew at Harpy & Hind. Or one of the independent brewshops Vandra prefers.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an ARC of this book! This is my honest review.

Truly unique! I think this is one of the fantasies that truly feels different from what’s being published, and in the best way. My students were really interesting the group dynamic here and find relationships between not just lovers super interesting, and I agree. The premise is also just chefs kiss.

I had high hopes for this one, but it unfortunately fell a little flat for me. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute and easy read! The plot was unique, and the characters were fun! I enjoyed this adventurous book filled with romance, humor, and an epic quest.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
