I really enjoyed the look at how each character dealt with grief and that they got their own chapters to know more about them individually. I enjoyed the book until maybe 60% through. After awhile it felt like there were holes in the story and it felt rushed.

It took me a few tries to get into.this book, but once I did I really enjoyed it. I think I was still in a summer reading mood and once I started feeling cozy fall romantasy vibes I ate it right up. Lots of slow burn in this book, and the addition of modern phrases etc in with a fuedal society kept me on my toes. Interesting read that I don't think inbound have picked up otherwise, so thanks to the publisher!

Ten years ago, Galwell, Elowen, Beatrice, and Clare saved Mythria, but Galwell of them died in the process. Each of the other three have handled fame and Galwell’s loss differently (read: not well). We meet up with them when the Queen needs their help to find her missing fiancé, and the three embark on a new quest, ten years after their first. Read if you like cozy fantasy, characters overcoming personal obstacles, and found family. The romance is also solid and well-earned.

I loved the characters in this book! Beatrice, Clare, and Elowen had great depth, and had good character arcs where they all got to do some amount of healing in a very satisfying way. The minor characters were also very enjoyable, and provided great comedic relief, as well as having their own mini-journeys.

The world building was uncomplicated but fun, with lots of whimsy and fun tidbits. I love when a fantasy world doesn’t take itself too seriously.

The plot was solid, but mostly served as a vehicle for the characters’ arcs, which is how I like it. I’m really impressed given that three separate authors worked on this, as everything felt very cohesive to me! I could imagine how some people might not be fans of the ending, but I found it incredibly satisfying and heartwarming.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the authors for an ARC! I had a great time in the world of Mythria with the Four.

This book was so FUN! I love the after they save the word setting and watching this group of hero’s come back together for another task. Just wish the romance was a little bit stronger!

This book is out now! Thank you for the physical copy of the book. A cute fun book, the writing was a bit hard for me to follow at times but I had fun.

This felt delightfully like a D&D game – casual and digestible worldbuilding, sharp humor, unique characters that fit a distinct role within the group, genuine stakes, and of course, a quest. I loved the multiple romances and even as someone who’s not always a fan of second chance romance, I adored it here. This was that perfect kind of cozy fantasy that was still really really adventurous.

This has such a cute premise and I liked it overall but I didn't love it. I found it difficult to get into. There was never that moment that I just couldn't wait to get back to reading it.

What a fun book! I loved the voice-y-ness of the characters and how their stories intertwined. It was such a creative romp to discover what had happened between all the characters to bring them to where they were at now and the tension was spot on.

Loveeeeee me some tea from the Round Table times and this absolutely brought the vibes! I really enjoyed the different take of it, post-saving-the-world mixed with high school reunion feels, with just the right amount of fantasy. I loved that they were able to grow back together and on their own. It was a real story of coming into your own and how friendships can change over time. Had a great time reading!!

This is a fun fantasy world where magic is used to create modern day types of things from hot drink chain shops to tapestry tablets to call people. Ten years ago Galwell, his sister Elowen, Beatrice, and Clare saved the princess and Queendom from a dastardly fate, but sadly Galwell the Great died in the final battle, which was too much for the other three, so they scattered around Queendom. Now the princess is the queen and she is getting married and wants them to be there even though Elowen and Beatrice do not want to go. As the cover quote notes, it is reminiscent of The Princess Bride and I totally agree.

"This Will Be Fun" delivers exactly what its title promises - a delightful blend of cozy fantasy and romance that sparkles with clever dialogue and infectious humor. With second-chance romances and a fantasy quest narrative, four estranged heroes reunite at a royal wedding only to face both their unresolved feelings and a new threat to their realm. The character dynamics shine through with fantastic banter, while the story's unique mix of medieval fantasy as well as fantasy takes on modern things (think like Netflix or similar tech things but make it medieval) created something new that I hadn't expected. The result is a warm, witty tale that will appeal to fans of both romcoms and cozy fantasy.

Although I liked the style of writing in the book it felt a bit long. I’m not usually a fan of books where the main conflict can be resolved in one conversation. I was also underwhelmed by the quest. It felt goofy and made it hard to believe they were superheroes. It was an interesting idea that sort of fell flat in execution.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

This Will Be Fun is such an amazing cozy fantasy! The book started off a little slow for me, but once the story picked up it was impossible to put down. Reading about what happens to heroes 10 years after their quest was a unique idea to me and I loved it. The banter, magic, chemistry and quest was so perfect that I will definitely be re-reading this book.
Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyage for the ARC!

As far as cozy romantasies go, This Will Be Fun by E.B. Asher is pretty middle-of-the-road. The characters are fun enough and the story certainly is cozy, but it doesn't quite live up to expectations.

This was sooo good! I wasn't sure to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely one to add to your TBR.

DNF at 20% -- when I found out that this was a combo of three authors, the disjointed feeling I was getting from the text made more sense. I just wasn't jiving with this like I was hoping I would.

A group of ex-friends, who saved the realm ten years prior, reluctantly reunite for the Queen’s upcoming nuptials only to find themselves thrust into a new quest that will require them to save the kingdom once more.

My goodness, I could not have loved this book more! This Will Be Fun echos cheeky, imaginative adventure tales like The Princess Bride, Ella Enchanted, and Galavant. The world building is full of spunky details that make the setting truly shine. In the Kingdom of Mythria, you will find fantastical versions of Starbucks in the form of a ye olde brew hut and Uber, aka wagon cart ride shares. There are magical soap operas, therapy sessions, and even the term “questmates with benefits.” These types of details endear modern readers to this non contemporary tale, reminding me of Far Far Away from the Shrek universe. Mythria was so deliciously concocted that I could imagine the story playing out cinematically. Now, I NEED someone to make this into a TV show or movie because this type of whimsical fantasy adventure is my obsession!

At the heart of this novel, are the three surviving members of the valiant team that saved the kingdom prior to the novel’s start. Clare, Beatrice, and Elowen all receive POV chapters which was incredibly important to the story's advancement. Deep and desperate emotions drive each of these characters and it was imperative that readers understood their inner workings when they begrudgingly reunited. Friendship is one of the main themes of this book which may be attributed to the fact that E.B. Asher is a pen name for three co-authors. There is pure glee exuding from the trio’s writing and the joy they must have felt while working on this project together is apparent. It is a love letter to forging and maintaining friendships and these characters have imprinted on my heart.

Thank you Avon Books and NetGalley for providing me with an
ARC in exchange for my honest review!

*ARC Review*

Loved loved absolutely loved. This book surpassed any and all expectations I had for it. The characters felt so real and they had such complex life’s and emotions I couldn’t help but instantly relate to pieces of them and just love them.
I think the whole concept of this book sounded very intriguing and it did not disappoint. Seeing these four characters ten years after the biggest high (saving the realm) and the biggest low (losing one of their own) was truly so interesting and even a little heartbreaking. Understanding how they all went down such different paths and as you got to know the characters more you realize why they reacted the way that they did made them feel so real and authentic. Watching them come together again was so cathartic especially because these are very stubborn, flawed characters but that didn’t mean that they didn’t deserve to heal and be happy. I struggled with not wanting this book to end because I really loved and cared for the characters and I didn’t want to put them down but ultimately the ending was beautiful and like I’ve said I loved it. It was also shocking to learn that this book was written by three different people because it didn’t feel like it at all, it was very cohesive and I was impressed.
“This will be fun” was epic, fun, cozy, heartwarming, vulnerable and so beautifully creative I didn’t want to say goodbye to the characters at the end.

As promoted, this book is indeed VERY Princess Bride meets People We Meet on Vacation- but not as promoted is that it's also very Ella Enchanted (with a certain hero giving very Prince Char)!

This fun adventurous, cozy fantasy is a twist on the genre. Rather than following our heroes as they pick up their quest, we're joining them 10 years later, after the fallout of a not entirely successful quest- and one man down. They may be reluctant heroes, but they are exactly what the realm needs. Clare (surprising, a man- our Prince Char) has lived off the success of being a hero, heart hurting after losing the one woman he would have seen for a second time. Elowen has hidden away, refusing to be seen, living out her best Rapunzel vibes in a tree in a cursed forest, mourning her brother. Beatrice, newly divorced, threw herself into an unhappy life and marriage in the hopes of feeling something different. The three haven't talked in 10 years, but when they come back together, all gloves are off and all the conversations they've been avoiding for a decade are coming back to get them.

I thought this was a very fun, whimsical little adventure. My favorite POV was Clare's, my favorite story was Elowen's, but my favorite character vibes were Beatrice. Each segment of the story was so well-crafted and individual (assuming its because EB Asher is in fact 3 people)- and overall just FUN!!

Thank you so much to EB Asher and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!

I was so excited for this book, but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. I came for what I thought was a quest & adventure storyline with a bit of romance, but got a double slow burn romance with a hint of fantasy.

The world building in This Will Be Fun was cute, but it fell short in some areas for me. I love when cozy fantasies give a little tongue-in-cheek nod to pop culture, but this one went over the top. It was our modern world comically set in a fantasy realm, complete with Uber ride share (aka “Wagons-For-You”). It gave off Shrek vibes, and don’t get me wrong, I love Shrek! But the issue is that a big part of why Shrek was so good is because of the awesome quest the characters were on, and that wasn’t present for me in this book.

All of that aside, I really enjoyed getting to know each quirky character, anxiously awaited the slow burn to finally BURN, and cheered at the ending! I think readers who are looking for a book that’s heavier on cozy romance vs fantasy will really enjoy this one.

Big thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Publishing for the gifted copy!
