Spicy, darkish, definitely some kinks. But also humor. Not my typical read but entertaining enough.
Audio was pretty well done.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Zando and Dreamscape Select for an eARC and ALC.

I think I might have just added another doctor to my must read dark romance list! This is the first book by Navessa Allen that I’ve read and it’s fantastic. It hooked me from the beginning as it starts out in a busy emergency room and I work in healthcare. This book is spicy and so so good!

I mean who wouldn't want to be stalked by a mask man and worshipped by him?
This is one of my favorite for this year far as Dark Romances. Is it dark, yes, many triggers. However it is so much more than kink and freak. MFC has a mask kink due to childhood trauma (don't we all), I love how the plot has many twists and turns (without me spoiling it too much), both of the MCs have very relatable stories that make you feel more connected, I loved the banter/connection between the two definitely felt more like Butcher and Blackbird which is another one of my loves.

This book was UN-REAL. 100% top notch, dark and funny and had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time. Its already found its spot on my physical bookshelf, and so will anything else Naves writes. All the stars!

This is my first dark romance and BOY does it take you for a spin!
I do love the storyline, it gives you a suspense feelings like it's not JUST about the smut.
Overall I'd say , I'd read another dark romance, even though it's not my preferred genre.

We all love those TikTok thirst traps, don’t we?
I really loved the idea of this book. I’m a big fan of MMC’s who do what they want and breaking into Aly’s house to record a thirst trap was genius.
I loved the bond between Josh and Fred. So adorable the way he called Fred their son. Josh and Aly are a great team and I’m glad they found their person in each other.
That epilogue was SO good. The chase was perfect and the end was exactly what was needed.

This dark kinky morally complex and gray stalker romance has so much humor and deep ethical goodness you can’t help but laugh and root for the couple to get together and get away with murder, literally.

The VIBES of this book. It felt so indulgent and fucking fun. It delivers exactly what you’d expect from the tropes of a kinky, masked MMC with a dark past and a secret masktok social profile with thirst traps. Add in the nurse FMC with a mask kink (among others), who pines for this guy…who happens to be connected to her in an *interesting* way. And he decides to indulge in her many fantasies.
I HAD THE BEST TIME. If you want a fun, low stakes read with great spice, fun characters, dark elements and energy with a side of a murder plot - this is it!
Tropes/Elements:
- Masked MMC
- Soft Dom / BDSM scenes
- Primal play
- Secret identity
- Childhood trauma (dad was a 🥣🔪)
- Roommate’s ex
- Stalker / hacker
Thank you to NetGalley and Navessa Allen for the eARC. The decision to read and review is entirely my own and reflects my opinion.

Five stars is simply not enough for this dark romance gem.
If you loved Butcher & Blackbird, and are finding that dark romcoms are your new favorite thing – I can guarantee if you will be obsessed with this book. It was an absolutely delicious romp through all of my favorite dark Romance tropes, with an abundance of comedy gold, and the added bonus of stellar writing.
I adored our MCS- they were both fully fleshed out, with meaningful and believable back stories, that kept me fully connected to the story every step of the way. Yes, it was hilarious and fun, and spicy as hell, but it also had an emotional component that surprised me at times. I was truly rooting for Aly & Josh- both as individuals, and as a couple.
This is one of those books that I tried to save her, drawing out a few chapters here and there, monitoring my rations as I went. Loathing to put it down, but knowing that I needed to make it last, just a little longer. I was truly when it ended, and it definitely threw me into a bit of a slump. This author is new to me, so I now begin the deep dive into her back catalog, and look forward to her next project.
Mind the trigger warnings, as they are plentiful and unique… But if you’re a true dark romance lover, they will likely be right up your alley.
Thank you to Zando, Slowburn Romance & Netgalley for my advanced copy!

“I didn't want him morally grey. I wanted someone with a soul as black as night. Someone who would burn the world down for me and not lose a single minute of sleep over it.”
This is the book I never knew I needed. I’m so thankful for friends that force you to read something you might not have picked up on your own. This light hearted (can’t believe I’m saying this in the same sentence) stalker romance is my new obsession. Josh has become one of my favorite MMCs. I mean this says it all:
“My entire life was devoted to caring for others. I wanted someone to take care of me for once. I wanted someone to want me. No, need me. I wanted a man so obsessed that he hacked into cameras to watch me when he couldn't sleep.”
He is as golden retriever as it gets but in the BEST type of way. The I’m going to burn the world for you type of way. Aly was absolutely perfect for him and loved hearing her thoughts throughout the entire story. The humor in this book is so good I actually laughed out loud and that is no easy task. 100% recommend to anyone!!

This book was absolutely wild. The first few chapters I wasn't super sold on it. As the story progressed I very quickly found myself hooked. It was dark in the way that Haunting Adeline is but more lighthearted. The banter between the two characters was so fun. If you go into this expecting it to be a spicy masked men book, don't worry- you'll get that. But you also get more complex characters and an engaging storyline to boot.
"The couple that slays together stays together" Are you kidding this is amazing and I love it.
If you're a fan of:
*Questionable men with somewhat good intentions
*SPICE
*Mafia
*Interesting character backstories
Then I think you will enjoy this one, I will be adding it to be list of dark romance recs going forward :)

Great dark stalker romance, loved it. Both characters had me giggling and kicking my feet like an idiot. Hope to see more from this author soon

Lights Out was entertaining and a whole basket of fun. For dark romance fans and Butcher and Blackbird fans - like me - Lights Out was right up my alley. Because while, at the end of the day, there's spice and elements of kinky spice, it's about finding someone who sees to the essence of someone. Someone we can be ourselves with despite the darkness we see in ourselves, our past, our jobs, and our baggage. A person who sees it all, embraces it, and loves us for it. The dual POV is absolutely necessary - especially at the beginning - and I loved their banter, chemistry, and power plays.

I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book. The audio was spectacular. The writing was so good. The humor was spot on.
This one gets a big yay from me.

Here for this. Red flags? check. Stalker? check. Masked man? Check. Breath/gun/knife play? Check. Check. Check.
Is this a book I’d recommend to anyone, or get is going to get nominated for a prestigious literary award? Probably not. BUT, did this book satisfy all of my hearts darkest little desires? It sure did.
This book reminds me that sometimes a book doesn’t have to be deep or make you think to be “good”. Sometimes a book just has to be freaking enjoyable and this sure as hell was.

This was such a fun read!!! I don’t know if I’ve fallen onto masked men TikTok yet but the whole concept of this book had me reeled in from the start! This is one of those dark romance books that’s a wee bit dark, but also funny, smutty and romantic. Josh was such a cinnamon roll and watching him go from this intense masked man to such a lover boy was so funny. I also enjoyed Aly’s character a lot too! It was fun to see her balance him out when he was losing his shit🤭 If your looking for a Dark romcom read with similar-ish vibes to Brynne Weaver’s books you should definitely give this a try!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was fun and spicy. Josh was so sweet in his own way. And Aly was great. Such a bad ass.
I’m looking forward to listening to this one once I have a chance.
It did feel like something was missing towards the end but overall it was a fun read.
It did feel like something was missing towards the end but I enjoyed it regardless.

I really enjoyed this book! it tried at bit too hard to be funny at times but other times it was funny lol
I loved Aly and Tyler's relationship, I loved how smart Aly was. The writing was great and so was the story, I did wish for a bit more plot like a more complexed one but the one it had was also good.
My favorite thing about this whole book though is Tyler's and Fredd's relationship xD

I really enjoyed this book! It wasn't afraid to explore the "darker" kinks that people may have and I really enjoyed it! Josh is such sweet man with a darker side and I loved his character. Aly is a great FMC and I really enjoyed reading about here. The story was fun and easy to follow, witty and had the perfect amount of spice!

I enjoyed this one! Masked man stalker mmc, ER nurse and an estranged mafia family all in one book? Sign me up.
I will start by saying that the first 40% took me a bit to get through just because there wasn’t *really* much plot, but once I got closer to 50% it started picking up and I finish the rest of the book in a day.
I will say this was kind of insta-lovey which I don’t normally enjoy, but the plot works well and I really enjoyed all of the characters and their humor. I found myself laughing out loud constantly with this one. Fantastic banter between MC’s and even side characters.
Read if you enjoy:
- masked men
- stalking
- primal play
- mafia ties
- touch her and you die
- and so much more!
Thank you to NetGalley, Navessa Allen, and Zando for the eARC of Lights Out, available now!
