Wow, I could not put this book down. The writing is so smooth, character building is on point and the storyline is intriguing, thrilling and scary at the lengths a parent will go to for their child. Loved the suspense at the end. Highly recommend. I think I have found another favourite author.

Ruth Harrow's The Guilty Girl is a story that is as disturbing as it is unable to be put down once you start reading it. This book will make you question everything you read, causing you to read it a second and third time, and each time you keep shaking your head uttering denials. Ms. Harrow grabs you right from the beginning of the book up to the end, and you feel absolutely captivated by her style of writing. If you love twisted, fast paced books that guessing from beginning to end, Ms. Harrow's The Guilty Girl is the perfect book for a weekend read.

Chloe’s dad has kept her locked indoors, telling her it is the best and that it was to protect her from the police because she killed her mother. Her temptation for the outside led her to meet Matt, her new neighbor. Things begin to spiral and the secrets come out! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy.

Enjoyed this quick read told from a singular perspective. Our MC is a 15 year old girl who is trapped inside her house and afflicted with a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome with an abusive father who never hits her but controls her nonetheless.
I was rooting for her the whole time as she struggled to make sense of the world around her and her own growing dissatisfaction.
There are no major surprises here. It goes pretty much how you would expect it to. Eventually Chloe smartens up and as a reader you want to cheer for her.
The book unfolds in a linear fashion as you find out the father's intentions and his dark secrets are revealed.
The book sort of fell flat for me towards the end. It wouldn't have been nice to have a stronger ending with some more intrigue, a final twist, or something similar.

The Guilty Girl is a, fast-paced, binge-worthy, psychological thriller that you will devour in one sitting. It's a popcorn thriller, meant in the best way possible. Is it the most original story? No. Is it super engaging , well-written and has some fun twists? YES, YES, YES. The Guilty Girl is entertaining escapism. I will definitely read more books by Ruth Harrow!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the gifted copy.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me the chance to review this book in exchange for an honest review!
Wow!!!!! That book was a crazy ride from page 1 until the end. I didn't ride the other books in the series but I didn't feel like I was missing any context. I was rooting for several of the characters and wanted them to be ok. The MMC gave me such icks that I needed to put it down in some spots to remind myself it was fake.

I can't wait to read more by this author.

Chloe is a teenage girl who has been locked inside her home for as long as she can remember. Her only connection to the world is her father who is doing everything in his power to keep her safe. All her life Chloe has abided by the one rule her father set - don't go outside. That is until one day that changes everything....
While I found the beginning of the book to be a bit slowly, things picked up pace quickly and I couldn't put the book down. I finished it in 3 hours. Parts of the book had me on the edge of my seat. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book! I will definitely be looking for more books by Ruth Harrow.

I’ve been enjoying my popcorn thrillers🍿 recently, and this one caught my eye because of the title.

“The Guilty Girl” was a great hook and promised an interesting story, and it didn’t disappoint.

This was a quick read that kept its pacing throughout the story, which was the strength of this story. I really enjoyed the way the author explored what it might be like to be so isolated from the world.

Chloe had an innocence about her, which I am guessing is because she was so sheltered from the outside world, but something in the way she spoke didn’t seem true to her age and she was a bit too willing to accept everything her father said.

Thank you to Netgalley, Inkubator Books and the Author for an advanced reader copy!
Opinions are my own.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a quick read with twists and turns that made it hard to put down. While predictable at times, I enjoyed the plot and trying to figure out what was going on.

The beginning is a bit slow and repetitive but power through, it’s worth the read!

This is a really great read that I can heartily recommend to anyone who enjoys reading psychological thrillers. The protagonist is likeable and believable, and the plot is twisty enough to keep you engaged without being fantastical. In my opinion, the story was very well written. I got hooked from the start. Yes, it could be a bit boring for some especially at the start but strangely, Harrow drew me in right from the 1st chapter. The plot doesn't have a shocking twist but at the same time, I was curious to read on and find out why and who and how.

I think this book is worth picking up to read.

Absolutely loved this novel, it was well written and I really felt for Chloe.
A perfect setting for what was going on which set the scene and allowed the story to unravel to the surprising end.
There was only one way it could it end though and I was glad it happened the way it did.
Definitely worth a read.

i think the plot was definitely predictable but and it felt flat here often times and it was slightly underwhelming. Was waiting on the twist and turns like in thriller books but there wasn’t anything shocking.

Ooh wee.. This month its just book after book giving me all the feels. The Guilty Girl by Ruth Harrow was no different. This thriller had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I was extremely invested on what happen, who did what, and why. Harrow has a way of pulling you in and having you speculate theories from the very first sentence, I of course was thinking one thing and then for that thing to be revealed early on I knew that it had to be something else. Well that something else is a twist that I never even speculated. When twists like that just gut punch you it really makes for a quality book. There was only one aspect of the book that I did not enjoy and it was the intimate tone of the dad toward the daughter. There was nothing written implying such thing, just an underlying tone that had me feeling a ted bit uncomfortable. 8/10 I would recommend to all you psychological thriller lovers.

The guilty girl: Chloe’s life is anything but normal. Her father has kept her prisoner for 12 years in her own home, not allowed to have friends, go outside or go to school.
As she gets older, she starts questioning her dad’s obsessive behavior.
She broke one of her dad’s rules & went outside where she met their new teenage neighbor. He causes her to realize that her father is controlling her every moment & keeping her from having a normal life.
Will she risk it all to gain her freedom?
I really enjoyed this thriller! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this in return for an honest review.

The Guilty Girl is not for readers sensitive to gaslighting or being held captive.
Dad and his daughter live together in a cottage on the outskirts of town. Dad goes to work daily and leaves his teenage daughter home alone. She is under strict instruction not to talk to anyone, not to look strangers in the eyes, and stay hidden. She keeps busy cleaning the house, doing schoolwork provided by her Dad, and preparing dinner for them (which on a good night comes from cans).
They live like this for 12 years without incident. But then developers begin taking some trees down and all Chloe knows begins to fall around her too.
Chloe is like most sixteen-year olds seeking her independence, but as she does so, she questions if it is worth the risk. Her father in his anger tells her everything is her fault. She is the reason they have to hide, have to run.
Her struggle to defy her father and carry the guilt he puts on her had me flipping fast through the pages. Every time I thought she could escape him, something else came up. I became very invested in Chloe's story. Right up to the ending I hoped she'd get her happily-ever-after.
Grab a copy of this today if you're looking for a page-turner, a psychological thriller, or a book with some weight to read.

I received this book from NetGalley. In my opinion the book was just ok. I was hoping for more twists than it actually had. There was a few that I was like okay here we go to only be disappointed when the surprises didn’t just keep coming. For me personally it was a very forgettable book. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book. #TheGuiltyGirl #NetGalley
