A fast-paced suspense novel that keeps you guessing with many twists and turns. Ian Carpenter leaves the witness protection program once a crime boss he testified against is dead. But then he suddenly is ambushed and reaches out to his former handler, U.S. Marshall Meadow Ames and her K-9 partner Grace. As they form a plan to keep Ian safe and figure out who is behind the ambush, staying one step ahead of the criminals is a challenge. When Ian's cousin, Brooke, is kidnapped the stakes are raised and it's a race against time. Can Ian overcome his PTSD to help when a crisis arises? Can Meadow lower her defenses and see Ian as a trusted partner? This is Book 5 in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit Series but can be read as a stand-alone novel.

This latest addition to the series, works well as a stand alone.
Ian Carpenter was an undercover deputy while working to put a crime boss behind bars. After the criminal’s arrest he had to go into WITSEC to stay alive.
The criminal and supposedly his allies die, but he only leaves WITSEC when his cousin asks for his help.
That all changes as he realizes the allies of the criminal are alive and are after him.
Contacting his handler, Meadow Ames might have been a good idea at first, but when Ian realizes he’s put her in danger, he regrets his decision.
From that moment on, danger follows Ian, Meadow and her K-9 Grace.
Complications occur when his young cousin is kidnapped. Ian is determined to do everything he can to rescue her, even as he is dealing with PTSD and bullets flying.
Will they be able to rescue Brooke? Will they finally get the bad guys? Will Ian and Meadow go their separate ways at the end, or decide to keep their relationship a try?
From the first page to the last , this was an action packed, edge of your seat story. The main characters were well developed and Grace, the K-9 dog was a good addition.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Harlequin and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Another Love Inspired Suspense that takes you on a dangerous journey complete with a K-9 unit involved. This book had me reading late into the night to see what would happen next. This book is scheduled to be released July 23, 2024. I was given a complimentary copy from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.

I loved K9 Grace in this book. One of my favorite scenes in the book is when Meadow has her act like a regular dog who is just a tad disobedient to throw people off suspicion during an investigation. I loved how she was instrumental in working with Ian and Meadow to keep Ian out of harm's way.

The bunker scene was excellent. Such a blend of playing on something that people are so afraid of to add to the intensity of the situation. I don't want to reveal any spoilers about what happens in there.

I felt like there was a lot of action and the scenes were full of suspense. The author did an excellent job with pacing.

This book can definitely stand alone. I have read other books in this collection but I don't think it is necessary to do that to be able to read this book. I would have liked the book to be a little bit longer just to expand on the story behind Silas and Des and Ian and Meadow. I feel like there was potential to be a two book series for these characters to fully tell the whole story.

I really enjoyed the ending. It was full of suspense and Grace helping her beloved partner. I would definitely recommend this book to my suspense lovers out there. There is romance but I would say it leans more to the suspense side.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Mountain Country K-9 Unit series. I have read some of the other books in this series before picking up this book, but you can read this book has a standalone without any problems. I really enjoyed this book. This book is a fast paced book full of action, suspense, and great characters. The romance was very lit in this book, and that worked this book. Great Read. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

In this fast paced suspense, Ian returns briefly to his hometown, only to discover the criminals he thought were long gone, were indeed back and planning to take him down. As he's stuck and on the run, he texts the only person he can think of who will help, his old handler, Meadow. While they try to track down the criminals, another case evolves alongside, as Meadow is now part of a unit tracking down a serial killer. These cases don't intertwine, I think it's supposed to link the series together, I'm not sure if these short stories give it enough justice, but it' just IMO.

*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC and for the opportunity to post an honest review.

"Montana Abduction Rescue" is a Christian romantic suspense. The suspense was good, with even a crawl through a dark, tight, spider-infested pipe creating tension. Meadow and Ian knew each other and worked well together well in the past. Their friendship turned into a deeper caring, but they couldn't allow that turn turn into a romance in the past. Ian also felt unworthy of even God's love because his own family rejected him. He learned to accept that God (and Meadow) could genuinely love him even if he couldn't always be the hero he wanted to be.

I felt like the ending was a bit rushed, though. Ian did progressively learn to act under fire when needed even while fighting off a panic attack (due to PTSD). However, at the end, he basically said he thought he had the panic attacks under control and would go back into active law enforcement. It just seemed abrupt, along with the wrap-up regarding the bad guys. I also don't quite see how the police managed to find (let alone find anything left of) two teeth and a toe left behind in a building that exploded and burned, which was needed for the bad guys to fake their deaths Anyway. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable romantic suspense.
