These characters that John Dixon created, I grew to love, hate, respect and fear. I felt like I was living alongside of them, feeling their pain, mourning their losses, reaching for hope with them, engulfed in their panic and celebrating their victories. Just read it. It will kick your ass and take your name.
I unfortunately was not able to read this book. It was archived before I had the chance to download or pick this book up on Netgalley.
I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!
Based on the reviews and the hype, I expected to like this more than I did. It was just okay for me.
It has been a long while since I have read this book, but I remember enjoying it greatly. I had a hard time putting it down and finished it too quickly.
After getting into trouble again and again, a judge sentences Carl to Phoenix Island which is a terminal facility off the coast of the US where orphans are sent. There are no laws in place on Phoenix Island and the drill sergeants run the place as a hardcore boot camp showing no mercy at all.
This one has been on my tbr for years and I finally got around to reading it! I had kept this on my radar for so long because it had won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Young Adult Novel.
I read most of it and also listened to the audiobook which was pretty fun to listen to. It definitely surpassed my expectations, and I was surprised that I enjoyed it!
This is a mix between Lord of the Flies and The Hunger Games, but it still had an overall original plot. If you're looking for a YA dystopian that's a fun read, I recommend checking this one out! 3.5/5 stars!
I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it.
An interesting, fast-paced dystopian read. Looking forward to seeing what the author John Dixon does next.
