Lady Thief continues to reinvent the Robin Hood tale for a new audience! I truly loved Scarlet and A..C. Gaughen managed to deliver an amazing sequel.
In Lady Thief, Scarlet has to deal with the repercussions of revealing her true identity. Gaughen takes us out of the forest and into the politics of court. I truly loved the shift in setting and tone. The stakes felt amplified and the drama heightened.
Gaughen also manages to add more depth to all the characters, while introducing us to a new set of characters including Prince John and Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine. I still truly hate Gisbourne but he seems less bad compared to Prince John.
And the romance! It's even more amplified in this given the barriers in the way of Rob and Scars relationship. I love these two so much and want them to get together.
Gaughen also does a great job with weaving in how the actions of the first book have impacted all the characters' personalities. Her portrayal of PTSD is amazing.
The ending of the book will leave you desperately wanting more! It's safe to say this book series is one my favorites and I love every minute of reading it.
I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it. I also never the read the first book...
The sequel was just as good and gripping as its predecessor! I was very grateful for the chance to read this when it came out and have promoted and recommended it frequently at work!
After reading the ending to Scarlet, pretty much everyone is going to want to grab this sequel immediately. Scarlet is such an amazing character, and a great inspiration. The writing is lovely, and this was an all around exciting and fun book that I highly recommend. Also, cliffhanger alert once again!
