This is the story of a woman on her death bed reviewing her long life. The men in her life, her children and her secrets. Genevieve Austin has carried a secret, tucked away in her heart, for over seventy years.
Did this secret play a role in shaping Genevieve's identity, or was she always meant to be the woman she became?
In the Making of Genevieve, we follow her journey from her teenage years, where she lived on the picturesque shores of Newport, Rhode Island, all the way through her golden years. We witness her relentless drive to stand out from the ordinary as she raises four children and perseveres through every roadblock she encounters. Some might consider both Nicky and Michael her biggest roadblocks, each posing significant challenges to her road to success
When secrets get revealed you learn why they are hidden in the first place.
Genevieve lives her best life and you go along on her journey. You learn why and how she did what she did to become the person she is today.
You never understand what someone is going through until you are inside their own head and listen to them struggle.
I enjoyed reading this and the way it was told made it a quick read. It starts with Genevieve on her deathbed reminiscing about her life and goes between her current life and all the years leading up to where she is now. The past is told in chronological order, so it’s not hard to follow the time jumps. I like that Genevieve was written as a realistic person with flaws—I like that I didn’t like all of her decisions. She is selfish and when her plans (that are the best for only her) don’t go as she would like, she makes things worse. I do like that she is driven to succeed in a career when women didn’t have them. Without any spoilers, I loved the ending.
This is a sequel to a book about Genevieve’s mother that is now on my TBR list.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to read and review this beautiful book. I love the fact we get to follow Genevieve’s journey throughout her life. I cannot wait to share my full thoughts and review. I apologize I’m slowly catching up on reviews due to an unexpected health issue but this is at the top of my list.
