Not going to lie, it was super weird reading a Christmas book in early August, but once I pushed back that odd feeling I really enjoyed this book. It read just like a classic Hallmark Christmas movie, with a pretty book cover to match. If you need a fun book to read around the holidays, this should be on your list.
It was a cute holiday romance. The meet-cute was spot on and the ending was such a Hallmark Movie (which I love)! Kanton though brash in the beginning really was a teddy bear. And Noel even though Christmasy, came off as a spoiled brat at times. Her character seems wishy-washy.... like do you want the romance you dreamed of or not? LOL.... this had one of my favorite tropes, forced proximity and I love KC Mills writing! All in all, it was a fun holiday romance!

What a good book!!! Such a good story and great writing style. This was my first by this author and will not be my last! Such a cute holiday romcom!
Upcoming Release Date: Sept 24, 2024
Christmas in Spite of You is a fast-paced romance that gives off Hallmark movie vibes. The relationship revolves around Noel (the "Christmas Spirit") and Kanton (the "Scrooge").
I liked how Noel loves giving gifts, baking, wearing tacky holiday attire & goes overboard with all the decorations. We all know someone like that! She's a little scatterbrained with what to do with her career & also with her feelings about Kanton. There are plenty of silly, steamy holiday puns.
Kanton is a businessman who is straightforward with making fast & profitable money moves. But to me, has the same persona relationship wise with Noel - almost as if buying her love/commitment is the deal in the end. π₯΄
While I enjoyed the change of pace from my last few reads, the plot is predictable (not a bad thing) & characters are a bit flat. I can see this being a holiday movie on a streaming platform or Hallmark channel!

First, I want to thank NetGalley, Black Odyssey Media, and K.C. Mills for providing an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Noel Anderson is nearly broke before the Christmas holiday after suffering a bump in the road when starting her own business. To make a little money during this time, she places her home on SharedSpace (an Airbnb service) to rent out while she's away with her family. But after a bad cold and accidentally forgetting to cancel the SharedSpace reservation, Noel finds herself sharing her space with Christmas Scrooge reincarnate Kanton Joseph. Both can benefit from staying in the apartment differently and agree to cohabitate for the week, with Noel agreeing to stay out of Kanton's way. Though their ideas on Christmas are wildly different, they find themselves attracted to one another, and Kanton considers softening his views to match Noel's Christmassy ones.
This book was such a fun holiday read. It was easy to relate to Noel and Kanton and root for their romance, which made the miscommunications between them even funnier. Their love for one another felt genuine and sweet; though it initially started with a strong physical attraction, it became much more. I'm always looking for winter Christmas reads; this book gave me just that.
I love the idea of this book, but it seems as though it was all over the place to me. Overall good read. I appreciate the opportunity to read this book.
This was a very cute romantic Christmas comedy. It was a perfect pallet cleanser when you are looking for a happily ever after. It was light but predictable but most light HEA are so I wasnβt disappointed. The conflict and toxicity was minimal which was refreshing. I would definitely read more from this author.

Rated 3.75/5 stars
I enjoyed reading about the time they shared, it was real cute. But, I didnβt really feel the passion Noel had for her business and the romance fell short. I just wanted to be more invested in the characters individually and as a pair but it was still a good read with all the holiday feels.
Thank you to NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC!
The cover for this book caught my eye so I thought I would check it out. I love a good holiday romance.
Unfortunately, this book missed the mark for me. It was a bit all over the place. There was a lot going on but not much happening in the sense of the plot moving along. I think with some good editing, this book could have been better.
"Christmas in Spite of You" by K.C. Mills is a heartwarming holiday romance that will leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside! Noel, an upbeat entrepreneur struggling financially, and Kincaid, a serious businessman skeptical about Christmas, unexpectedly share an apartment during the holidays. As they clash over holiday cheer and business deals, sparks fly, leading to a charming romance filled with humor and heartfelt moments.
Talk about a heartwarming holiday romance! βChristmas in Spite of Youβ by K.C. Mills is a delightful holiday romance that captures the magic of the season, while exploring the unexpected connections that can blossom in the most unlikely circumstances. Mills weaves a heartwarming tale that will leave readers with a warm glow and a renewed belief in love.
Meet Noel. Sheβs a meticulous neat freak who finds herself financially strapped after a failed business venture. Desperate to make ends meet, she decides to rent out her apartment on Airbnb during the Christmas holidays. Her plan is to visit her family and regroup, but fate has other ideas. When she falls ill and misses her family gathering, she's left sharing her space with Kincaid, a successful businessman who also happens to be her temporary housemate.
Meet Kincaid. Heβs a Christmas skeptic who rents an Airbnb in the same complex to gain an advantage in a business deal. To his surprise, the owner of the apartment wants to cancel the reservation and is still occupying the space. Reluctantly, they agree to cohabitate for a week. Their clashing personalities and opposing views on the holidays create friction, but as they spend time together, they begin to soften toward each other.
What makes βChristmas in Spite of Youβ truly remarkable is how it portrays the holiday spirit. Noel's determination to have a Merry Christmas despite her temporary housemate's Scrooge-like attitude is endearing. As Kincaid starts seeing things through Noel's eyes, he discovers that Christmas cheer isn't as terrible as he thought. Simple gestures and acts of faith bridge the gap between them, leading to a budding relationship.
Noel and Kincaid are well-crafted characters. Their initial clashes give way to mutual understanding, and their chemistry is palpable. Noel's resilience and Kincaid's vulnerability make them relatable. As they navigate their feelings, readers will root for their love to overcome misgivings.
Mills' writing is engaging and evocative. The snowy backdrop, twinkling lights, and cozy holiday traditions create an enchanting atmosphere. Readers will feel like they're sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace, wrapped in the magic of Christmas.
βChristmas in Spite of Youβ is a heartwarming romance reminding us love can bloom even in the unlikeliest of situations. Mills captures the essence of the holiday season, leaving readers with a smile and a renewed belief in the power of love. If you're looking for a feel-good read to curl up with this Christmas, or anytime of the year, this book is a must-read.

With Noel's Christmas plans being derailed and Kanton in need of a place to stay, these two strangers are forced to co-habitate for a week.
This is a classic Hallmark holiday movie but in book form. We have the Christmas overenthusiast and the grump. If you love holiday movies, you will love this book.
- Grumpy/ sunshine
- Forced Proximity
Lighted-hearted and gives βHallmark Christmasβ vibes. It was plot-driven so no character development which I think would have made this more interesting but worth reading.
This was a very simple and lighthearted Christmas romance. It would serve as an easy read around the holidays, or as a quick palette cleanser.
I do wish this book had more depth. The characters were very basic, and felt almost like charictures of themselves - a Christmas hating rich business man, and a Christmas loving entrepreneur woman. The dialogue reflects this, and also felt very basic. The language and mannerisms for the characters felt cliche. Even the spicier scenes had an air of detachment, despite being fairly open door.
4.5
Love love love this !!! I wish it was a little longer just because it was that good. I wasnβt ready for it to be over. I enjoyed the characters and the side characters. I was laughing , smiling and blushing throughout this book. I was not disappointed.
This romcom is perfect for the holiday season.
Noel and Kincaid are cute together and you need to read their story. It was wonderful, sexy, hilarious, christmasy and perfect for the holiday season.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

I love KC Mills, let me start off by saying that. The adaptability of her pen is absolutely incredible. This is not your run of the mill Christmas story. It gives more Hallmark vibes in my opinion. I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie so thatβs a plus. For me, I was not disappointed in this read at all.
