Talk about a heartwarming holiday romance! “Christmas in Spite of You” by K.C. Mills is a delightful holiday romance that captures the magic of the season, while exploring the unexpected connections that can blossom in the most unlikely circumstances. Mills weaves a heartwarming tale that will leave readers with a warm glow and a renewed belief in love.
Meet Noel. She’s a meticulous neat freak who finds herself financially strapped after a failed business venture. Desperate to make ends meet, she decides to rent out her apartment on Airbnb during the Christmas holidays. Her plan is to visit her family and regroup, but fate has other ideas. When she falls ill and misses her family gathering, she's left sharing her space with Kincaid, a successful businessman who also happens to be her temporary housemate.
Meet Kincaid. He’s a Christmas skeptic who rents an Airbnb in the same complex to gain an advantage in a business deal. To his surprise, the owner of the apartment wants to cancel the reservation and is still occupying the space. Reluctantly, they agree to cohabitate for a week. Their clashing personalities and opposing views on the holidays create friction, but as they spend time together, they begin to soften toward each other.
What makes “Christmas in Spite of You” truly remarkable is how it portrays the holiday spirit. Noel's determination to have a Merry Christmas despite her temporary housemate's Scrooge-like attitude is endearing. As Kincaid starts seeing things through Noel's eyes, he discovers that Christmas cheer isn't as terrible as he thought. Simple gestures and acts of faith bridge the gap between them, leading to a budding relationship.
Noel and Kincaid are well-crafted characters. Their initial clashes give way to mutual understanding, and their chemistry is palpable. Noel's resilience and Kincaid's vulnerability make them relatable. As they navigate their feelings, readers will root for their love to overcome misgivings.
Mills' writing is engaging and evocative. The snowy backdrop, twinkling lights, and cozy holiday traditions create an enchanting atmosphere. Readers will feel like they're sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace, wrapped in the magic of Christmas.
“Christmas in Spite of You” is a heartwarming romance reminding us love can bloom even in the unlikeliest of situations. Mills captures the essence of the holiday season, leaving readers with a smile and a renewed belief in the power of love. If you're looking for a feel-good read to curl up with this Christmas, or anytime of the year, this book is a must-read.

With Noel's Christmas plans being derailed and Kanton in need of a place to stay, these two strangers are forced to co-habitate for a week.
This is a classic Hallmark holiday movie but in book form. We have the Christmas overenthusiast and the grump. If you love holiday movies, you will love this book.
- Grumpy/ sunshine
- Forced Proximity

Lighted-hearted and gives “Hallmark Christmas” vibes. It was plot-driven so no character development which I think would have made this more interesting but worth reading.

This was a very simple and lighthearted Christmas romance. It would serve as an easy read around the holidays, or as a quick palette cleanser.
I do wish this book had more depth. The characters were very basic, and felt almost like charictures of themselves - a Christmas hating rich business man, and a Christmas loving entrepreneur woman. The dialogue reflects this, and also felt very basic. The language and mannerisms for the characters felt cliche. Even the spicier scenes had an air of detachment, despite being fairly open door.

Love love love this !!! I wish it was a little longer just because it was that good. I wasn’t ready for it to be over. I enjoyed the characters and the side characters. I was laughing , smiling and blushing throughout this book. I was not disappointed.

This romcom is perfect for the holiday season.
Noel and Kincaid are cute together and you need to read their story. It was wonderful, sexy, hilarious, christmasy and perfect for the holiday season.

Thank you, Netgalley, and Black Odyssey Media for the (eArc). -eBook for my honest review.

I love KC Mills, let me start off by saying that. The adaptability of her pen is absolutely incredible. This is not your run of the mill Christmas story. It gives more Hallmark vibes in my opinion. I love a good Hallmark Christmas movie so that’s a plus. For me, I was not disappointed in this read at all.

Thank you to Netgalley, Black Odyssey Media, and K.C Mills for approving my request to read this E-ARC.
This is the perfect Christmas opposites attract story. So cute and romantic.
I loved it. 😍😍

Noel, and Kanton
I was totally invested in their story.. They were cute and passionate. They were definitely made for each other and she converted me.. Although he was the serious type, Canton definitely has some good energy and vibes. When I first started reading, I thought Noel was definitely a Debbie downer, but then I end up falling in love with her character too. Such a good read and definitely recommend.

K.C Mills does it again! This holiday romance will be a perfect read for Christmas time! I loved the opposites attract aspect of the romance; it didn't feel like enemies to lovers, which often happens with this trope, it felt like two people who seem so mismatched but are really two pieces of the puzzle. I loved the banter, the conversations, and the way the POV seemed to switch perfectly!

The story flowed well and the characters were well developed. I recommend this book and look forward to more from this author.

(ARC Review) I am a fan of K.C. Mills and have read multiple works of hers. However, I will say that if I didn't see her name on the cover, I never would have guessed this was part of her catalogue. It did not follow her typical "crafting romance with an edge" at all. And that is okay. I appreciated reading a different type of work from her as this deviated from a lot of her other works I have read.
PROS: Largely, I liked this book and story. It was really cute and "Hallmarky" as was the intention. Christmas romance movies were one of the FMC favorite things and this plot fit the bill. I liked how the love story developed for the MCs in a short amount of time. It met all of the cutesy boxes (e.g., meet-cute, fall fast, break-up over a misunderstanding, get back together, HEA) and gave the necessary feels.
CONS: The ONLY thing I didn't like about the story was how racially ambiguous the characters were. I was 54% through reading when they hinted at the FMC being of color. I am not used to that from a K.C. Mills book and honestly am bothered by it. There is no reason why the story could not have worked with the MCs being obviously Black, not just hinted as such. That just felt weird to me as I was reading the story and the only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars.

You get five stars you get five stars yoou get five stars. round of a freaking applause. so so good. This was everything my christmas loving heart needed.

Christmas in Spite of You is the first book I've read from this author, and it was an okay read. I don't want to give too much away, but there is a little confusion that causes the main characters Noel and Kanton to end up spending time together. They are strangers and have absolutely nothing in common, or so they think. However, the more time they spend together and the more they get to know each other, the harder they both realize it will be to walk away. I think the thing that stopped me from really loving this story was that I needed more chemistry between the two main characters. I was expecting to read some heart shared moments between them and didn't really get that. There were also times where I felt like the pace of the story was a little slow but overall, it was an okay story. I don't know if it's a story that I will ever read again but I think it's worth reading at least once.

Wonderful, sexy and hilarious! This romcom is perfect for the holiday season!

When you are down on your luck God shows up and out. Everyone we meet aren’t the same there maybe one similarity however our hearts are and work differently. Supporting each other throughout a relationship is an essential part of building respect and trust forming bonds.
Mills formatted a beautiful Christmas Story that will have you laughing, getting upset and cheering for with both lead characters.

Christmas In Spite Of You is a wonderful Christmas romance that will leave you with all the feels! I don't think there is a couple I love more than Noel and Kanton!
Noel loves the holidays and embraces it to the fullest. She has a lot to be grateful for - a close-knit family, a supportive best friend, her own business. This year, however, her business has been struggling and she needs money. She decides to rent out her apartment on Shared Space for the week of Christmas while she visits her family.
Kanton owns a successful financial restructuring firm and is dedicated to his work. He wants to take his company to the top, so when he is presented with the possibility to secure a multi-million dollar deal, he immediately jumps on it. He doesn't mind missing out on Christmas, especially considering he's never had the best experience with Christmas and the holiday season in general. He rents an apartment on Shared Space and heads down to Atlanta the week of Christmas. He is hopeful until he arrives and finds the owner still in her apartment. Noel is not leaving, and Kanton needs this deal, so they're forced to make it work.
I loved everything about this book! Noel is such a ray of sunshine - she is hopeful, she is funny, she's a romantic, she is a breath of fresh air. Kanton, on the other hand, is all business. He is a grump and a bit of a scrooge, however he has his reasons.
I just knew I was going to love these two from their very first interaction. They are complete opposites, with one loving Christmas and the other not caring for it. Being forced to cohabitate together during the holidays, Kanton and Noel start forming a connection that's undeniable. It was refreshing watching Kanton open up and Noel start to give in. The spicy scenes were definitely there, and by the end of each of them I was rooting for Kanton and Noel more and more! And I loved Simone! We all need one of her in our lives lol.
A spicy, romantic holiday read! 5 stars!
Thank you NetGalley, Black Odyssey, and K.C. Mills for such a delightful ARC!

This was such a perfect read for the holiday season. It has the best grumpy/sunshine vibes and felt like a fun hallmark movie. Noel and Kanton get stuck together and immediately just clash (and then don’t!). I loved it!
