Another fantastic book from D.S Butler. Detective Sergeant Karen Hart is determined, but not afraid to bend rules to get to the truth. D.I. Morgan prefers to follow rules and regulations, but is always behind his team 100 per cent.
So many twists and turns that keeps you guessing until the end.
Have read all of the Karen Hart books and they just keep getting better, a well thought out storyline.
Such a compelling book that’s hard to put down.

Fantastic read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, mystery, kidnapping, a crazy who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my kindle! I highly recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
Three boys were taken and murdered fifteen years ago. The killer is in jail. So why is history repeating itself? A family outing to Tattershall Castle comes to a chilling end when eleven-year-old Tommy Burton disappears without a trace in broad daylight. All that remains in his place is a small blue teddy bear. DS Karen Hart and her team are called in to investigate the unusual circumstances, but for DI Morgan the crime scene is eerily familiar. t’s been fifteen years since Morgan worked on a traumatic case that saw Graham Donaldson put behind bars for abducting and murdering three young boys. His calling card: a blue teddy bear left at the scene of each crime, a detail never revealed to the press or public. Could Donaldson, recently transferred to a local prison, have something to do with the missing boy? Has he somehow inspired a copycat? Or, worse, is the original killer still out there, and embarking on a second campaign of terror?

Want great characters? Suspense, action and thrills? Then give this book a whirl. I loved the story and the twists and turns that had me turning page after page. This won't be the last time I pick up a book by D. S. Butler, not by a long shot.
The scenes were set beautifully, and I fell into this book with ease. I loved Karen and her team, there dynamic made things all the more interesting. The plot revolves around a missing boy and his link to similar missing children 15 years ago.
I really enjoyed the dynamic of the investigating team. How two people could be following very different and very plausible leads, and the readers know there is only one answer and yet there are so many options it's hard to tell where the story is going to swing.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
When an 11 year old boy goes missing, Karen and her team are called in to investigate. The only clue points to a clue from a case long solved in Morgan’s past.
I really like Karen-I’d want her investigating any crimes against me. She is stubborn and determined and clashes/works well with Morgan-her opposite, a stickler for the rules. The whole team seems to have great relationships.
This one had little evidence to go on, and many possible suspects. The twist of the true kidnapper came completely out of the blue and had me fooled.
What seemed like a straightforward story, had many layers and complexities, making it a throughly enjoyable book. One I would highly recommend.

Fifteen years ago, three young boys were kidnapped and killed. At the abduction site, a blue teddy bear was left by the murderer.
The killer was found and jailed.
Now there seems to be a copycat when a young boy is taken in a public area.
Karen Hart is tasked to find this child before it is too late.
Absolutely terrific, fast paced police procedural! The second I have read in this series, and I am now a huge fan of Detective Karen Hart.
She relies on her gut instinct to tell her when something is off when interviewing witnesses and suspects. She isn't averse to breaking the rules and rushes into situations when required.
Unlike DI Morgan who relies on evidence and works by the book in the investigations.
I love her dedication, and the team's commitment to solving cases, and using their specialities to do so.
The twist is unexpected, as there are so many dodgy suspects.
Fantastic series and I am looking forward to more.
5/5 stars from me.
Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book.
