If Heartbreak was a book this is it. The absolute soul crushing sadness I felt reading this was unreal. In the last book we left off with Veyka begging her sister to save Arran from death. In the start of this book we deal with the aftermath of Veyka being separated from her mate without any way of seeing him and not knowing if he is okay. She’s coping with the pain of separation while also coming to terms with her power and the impending succubus attack. The rest of this will contain my thoughts and feelings while reading and will contain spoilers.
❃ SPOILER ALERT ❃
First things first, Veyka is a boss bitch in the book. She always has been, don't get me wrong. She's been through hell and back but the way she picked herself up and kept trucking along in this book and the way she stands up for herself now is inspiring. Then when she finally found her footing, to have Arran showing up without all the memories of his life thus far with Veyka was like a knife to the gut. My heart was in shambles for her. The little piece of happiness she had finally cultivated for herself being ripped from her, all if it just gone all because she just wanted to save his life was cruel. Also I can think of many moments in my life where I wish I had the luxury of running away into the void like Veyka. What a gift and a curse. When Arran finally remembered her and everything he had done while in the state he had me sobbing reading their reunion through blurry tear filled eyes. I love this series, man. The giant cliffhanger at the end is killing me. I'M NOT PREPARED FOR HER TO FIND OUT ABOUT PARYS!! Already crying.

EMBERLEY ASH, IT IS I WHO MAY DIE!!!

The absolute radio silence from Baylaur, lack of POVs from Gwen had me sooo suspicious throughout this whole book. The whole time thinking holy crap Veyka and co don’t even know what’s happening there through the LAST book, and now even WE, the reader, have no idea. It was almost distracting but boy, am I READY for book 4!

Veyka, unmoored once again, now without Arran at her side, has to dig deep within herself to carry on as the threat of the succubus more than looms over Annwyn. Her confidence feels completely shattered as she alone has to continue on to find a way to stop to succubus that threatens to overwhelm their kingdoms.

Arran, mortally wounded, is “safe” in Avalon where no one can die. Their forced parting pushes Veyka to stand and act on her own with her Knights to support her. It’s clear nobody is coming out of this journey unchanged. I am filled with dreadful anticipation as Ash brings the scope of the last two books into sharp focus.

It’s been a privilege to read this series in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you to NetGalley and Cara Maxwell Romance for the opportunity 💜

I really enjoyed this book and I am excited to do another read through especially when/ if the audio book comes out. Emberly Ash is becoming one of my favorite romantasy authors!

Gave this 3 stars out 5. It was a slow start reading the beginning of book 3 but in the middle it kind of progressed but was still lacking the high stakes scenes that I enjoyed in book 1 and 2. However, I enjoyed reading how it showcases the character’s development in this book which I believe is essential to the next and final book in this series. Veyka continues to grow as the responsible, strong, fierce queen and Arran showcases his vulnerability after what happened to book 2. Their love story which makes me invested in this series continues to develop and progress even with the challenges they are facing. I also love that there are more chapter for the other characters in this book. Cyara's chapters continuously show how loyal she is to Veyka through and through, although, I wish there were more chapters from Gwen in this book to give more information about what is happening in Baylaur. I cannot wait to see how the author wraps this series up in book 4! I have received this book from Netgalley. Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for giving me this ARC and Thank you to the amazing author, Emberly Ash for writing this amazing fantasy series!

Thank you to Netgalley and Emberly Ash for the arc.

Court of Vines and Vipers is the third book in Secrets of the Faerie Crown series.

Veyka, who killed her tormentor but at the cost of risking her mate, Arran, being injured, now waits at the edge of Avalon as Arran heals. Meanwhile, Guinevere, left to care for Annwyn alongside Parys, is now alone after his untimely death, facing the spread of the succubus among the fae. Torn between staying in the human realm to be with her gravely injured mate and returning to Annwyn to combat the spreading darkness, what will Veyka do?

As always, I loved the dedication. I enjoyed Veyka's character growth from book one to book three. I saw the amnesia trope coming—don’t worry, Emberly, I didn’t hate you for it! However, I did not see that ending coming. Also, thank you for not killing anyone else off. Yet another Arthurian retelling that will be close to my heart. I'm curious to see who The Siege Perilous and the Queen of the Ethereal Prophecy are. Can't wait for Queen of Blood and Vengeance!!!

Quote I loved,
“I won’t beg you to love me, Arran. But I do love you. Even this f*cked up version. And if I have to spend the next thousand years without seeing love in your eyes, I will pay that price. Because I made a vow. A thousand years and a thousand more.”

What an emotional rollercoaster !! This book torn my heart out and put it back together all the same.
It was super interesting to see how it written to reiterate and allow the characters to regrow. They continue to change throughout this series and that doesn’t change in this book. It was super cool to see the rolls reversed between the characters and to see how that changed their dynamic.
The plot for this one was fantastic, probably not quite as engaging as book 2 but it still so enthralling watching them work out all the pieces to the puzzle.
Their chemistry in this book takes a bit of a one-eighty given the new circumstances but it was super interesting to see things redevelop between the characters. The spice for this one is lower than the first two books, it’s around a 3/5. Given their new dynamic the scenes aren’t that frequent, there’s only a few throughout but I can understand the lack of it cause it wouldn’t have fit the story if it was more frequent.
Overall, I’m obsessed with this story, the characters, the couple, all of it. I think it’s a fantastic romantasy series and I cannot wait for book 4 to come out and see where the storyline goes. I have to put it at a 4.5/5, i can’t recommend this series enough.

I thought this would be the final book, so my expectations were different for it. I changed my rating from a 3 star to a 4 star for a simple fact: ever since I finished reading, I've been thinking about it. About the story and the characters, and how I want more of it :(

I really like the characters and believe that they have great potential for more, but I do think that the steady growth made in the previous two books was not seen in this one. There was a lot of back and forth with Veyka and Arran's relationship that I didn't feel like it was needed. I understand that it was done so that we could see that they belong together because they choose to, not just because they're mates; but I didn't think it was needed.

Plus, we get a lot of mentions of their past trauma but not a lot of context to understand it... Why was Veyka subjected to such abuse? Why did they think that was the way to force her powers to come out? It didn't make sense to me... And Arran's past trauma is really brushed off, we never even see him telling Veyka about his brother.

I'd like for the characters to be more developed, especially the villains (because there's very little that we know about them). But other than that, the story has a great plot, very typical of a fantasy series, and it excels in keeping us enthralled in it. We're always wondering what's next!

That being said, I'm curious to see how this story ends and I believe people should give this series a chance :)

Thank you to Netgalley, the editor and the author, for allowing me to read this book and immerse myself into this incredible world. Can't wait to see more of it!

⚔️A Court of Vines and Vipers⚔️

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Book three and it was another great instalment in this series! We start by picking straight up were book 2 left off. Book 2 left us with a big cliffhanger so it was great to jump straight in.

We got to see more of the main characters relationship build. I can’t wait to see more of this in book 4.

After enjoying the first two books in Secrets of the Faerie Crown series I was excited to dive into the third book. Whilst I still enjoyed it and found elements of it interesting, I did find myself struggling to fully get into the story.

I think pacing was the main issue for me. It’s a long book that unfortunately feels slow in parts and there is very little plot driving the story forward. Instead there is a lot which seems to be aimed at setting up the events of the final book, but ultimately just feels like filler within this book.

The main premise focuses on the prophecy and the group trying to fully understand it, but this takes up a lot of the book and I feel like it could have been thinned out to make the book snappier. Instead, the main revelation at the end of the book was drawn out and did find some of the twists and turns predictable.

The story picks up after the events of the second book which meant Veyka and Arran were apart for half the book. This made the first part hard to read as we’d spent two books with them together and the absence of their great dynamic was noticeable and jarring. When they are reunited we get more tension and drama as a result of Arran’s memory loss.

I enjoyed the role reversal with Veyka fighting for her love and shows how much she has grown throughout the books. Without Arran by her side it gave her the push she needed to grow into her role as queen but thought the resolution to his memory loss was anticlimactic and too easily resolved.

We are introduced to a new POV in this book. I really enjoyed their chapters which helped break up Veyka’s ‘this is all my fault’ chapters, especially as we don’t start getting Arran’s POV again until about half way through. I usually enjoy the short chapters but occasionally I felt they were a little too short, sometimes only a page, which gets more frequent as we reach the climax of the story.

Whilst I may not have enjoyed this one quite as much I would still recommend the series. I am still intrigued to see how the story is going to wrap up as the overall series has been really interesting. The conclusion to the series comes out later this year so will soon be a completed series that you can binge.

Pretty slow to start but picked up and was great! The FMC was also a little naggy and whiney to me but can’t wait to see where this goes in the fourth book!

Oh boy… fans of Sarah J Maas and Rebecca Yarros, here’s another author to check out! I will admit that this series was a little slow to start, and I wasn’t sure how I felt about it after the first book. But, I hung in there and now, after the third book, I am completely and thoroughly hooked. I’ll also admit that I’m not an Arthurian scholar, so that tie-in doesn’t really resonate with me, but that also didn’t impact my enjoyment of the book.

I don’t want to say much about the plot of this book, as I don’t want to spoil if you haven’t started the series yet. But I will say that there are fae, magic, travel to other realms, and romance. I definitely recommend checking out the series, and hang with it, it gets better!

Thanks to Netgalley and Emberly Ash for the advance copy in exchange for honest review. 5 stars, definitely recommend!

4.25 ⭐️

Court of Vines and Vipers is the third book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series by Emberly Ash. While I do think I preferred book two, Throne of Air and Darkness, just a tiny bit more, Crown of Vines and Vipers was still a really great read.

I was STRESSED for a solid 75% of this book. I don’t want to put any spoilers, but I think anyone who has read it will understand why. Arran and Veyka’s dynamic was very different for most of this book than it was in the previous two and for good reason. I really liked getting to see Veyka come into her power more in this book and really accept the responsibility for her kingdom that she had somewhat been avoiding. Her growth throughout this book was fantastic.

With how things ended in book two, I do wish we had gotten more POVs from characters in Baylaur, but I will admit that the lack of them did add immensely to the gut punch that was the ending of Court of Vines and Vipers. Nevertheless, I would love to get back to Gwen in book four (and I’m fairly certain we will)! I’m looking forward to seeing the way Veyka and her group react to news of the happenings on Baylaur since they departed, since there’s some pretty big things that have happened that they’re completely unaware of as of yet.

All in all, I have really loved this series so far! The wait for book four may just kill me. I cannot wait to see the way this story wraps up.

Thank you so much to Emberly Ash and NetGalley for the review copy of Court of Vines and Vipers! All opinions are my own.

I’ll admit - I was worried how this would turn out for the fact sometimes a third book in series is worth it, or a waste of time. I’ve read too many series recently where the first two books are beyond perfection and then the author goes mad and writes atrocious nonsense for the next book.

This was not that. This was exactly what this series needed and such a beautiful storyline. I traditionally do not enjoy memory loss. It’s infuriating and usually more frustrating than useful in moving a story along. However: I felt the necessity of his memory loss from the moment it happened. It made sense and made the heartbreak of it all so much more.

I think this was really well done and only made me excited to continue Vekya’s story.

This was a crazy, fast paced, wild read, I really enjoyed it. Following the love story between Veyka and Arrans in this beautifully written Romance/Fantasy tale.
I will definitely be picking up the rest of the series and rereading waiting for the next installment. ACOTAR eat your heart out!

Court of Vines and Vipers by Emberly Ash is book three in the dark retelling of the Arthurian legend. If readers thought book one was dark, they are in for a surprise for how book three develops! This book is all kinds of deliciously dark, somewhat twisted, and deviously enthralling, that the readers don't know they're hooked until they try to put the book down and find out they're unable to do so! Make sure you've read books one and two before attempting to read Court of Vines and Vipers as these are not stand alone stories, and you will be lost if you attempt to read one without the prior books first, and I have no idea if there is going to be a fourth book, but all I can say is there had better be!

This was a wild read, A romance/fantasy story that follows the love story of Veyka and Arrans, you definitely have to read the two previous books to better understand the story this one ends in a cliffhanger so there’s going to be a 4th book coming , I can’t wait for it!!

This was a struggle to finish, even after finishing the first two. It felt a little stagnant and somewhat forced.

This is the third installment in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series and it’s a ride.

I loved the progression of Veykas and Arrans relationship. I liked the dynamic they had and the trust built between the two of them. The spice is spicing in this book which was enjoyable to read. The beginning of the book was slower in pace but it ramped up as we got further and further into the dense story that Emberly has created.

We get more about the prophecy, grief, more political struggles, and intense mistrust between well… everyone. Emberly writes tragedy incredibly well and really dives into the process of grief/emotion.

I thought this was a great book and the ending made me excited to read the next book!!

Trigger Warnings for Court of Vines and Vipers: Sexual assault, war, graphic sexual encounters, blood play, sexsomnia, amnesia, grief

Court of Vines and Vipers is Emberly Ash's third novel in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series. Veyka Pendragon, High Queen of Annwyn, and Arran Earthborn, High King of Annwyn, explore what it means to be together when their relationship is potentially hurting the world. The threat is not just in the human realm, it is here and rampant.

I'm so sad. Emberly Ash started with an amazing first novel in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, but it has gone down hill with each novel. I loved Throne of Air and Darkness, thought Crown of Air and Darkness was good, but Court of Vines and Vipers was just blah. The amnesia trope will immediately pull me out of any story, in any book, this one included. The ending sucked me in enough to still want to read the fourth and final novel in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, but I'm much less excited than I was in the very beginning.

All in All, I really hope Ash can turn this series around. The characters are captivating and their growth is so fun to watch. As someone with limited Arthurian knowledge, it has been so fun to learn what is and isn't from the old tales. Special thanks to NetGalley, Emberly Ash, and Cara Maxwell Romance Publishing for access to a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
