I originally read this book for R&R Book Tours and have neglected to leave my review here until today. I really enjoy omegaverse stories and was looking forward to this book. This truly was dark, enemies to lovers, captive, non-con, forced proximity, etc.

I like living on the edge. I have only 10 hours before the ARC ends and here I am, writing this in haste.

This book was my first omegaverse in a very loooong while. Heck, I don't even remember when was my last book.

As the norm with this niche of a genre, get yourself ready for a morally grey/antihero hero and an uncomfortable amount of bodily fluids and graphic descriptions of con non-con (or was it non con? Idunno. It's hard to guess with this genre).

Anyway, with this one particular one, it has that mix of your traditional fantasy romance with kingdoms and impending invasions. As for the tropes, expect enemies to lovers, true mates, antiheroes, forced proximity, living in enemy's camp, some tortures stuffs etc.

As for my own opinion, it's a good mesh of your typical omegaverse book (and the subsequent plot devices) and your typical fantasy with warring kingdoms. I guess we'll see how the world building expand in the next book, or it could just end there and focus on the unique dynamic of Alpha-omega. For now, I'm still undecided. We'll see, peeps.

*I have received an ARC copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher in exchange of my review. 🙏🏻

3.5 stars rounded up

I had a really hard time after finishing this book sorting out my feelings about this book mostly surrounding the Main male character. The world and magic were fascinating, but a number of points were unclear for the history of omegas and Akoro has a whole vastness of knowledge that Naya and no clue about as well as Akoro people even existed. I would like more detail and description in regard to those things. The biggest thing I had Mixed feelings about was Akoro himself. Sometimes he was great dark, morally gray, obsessed with Naya, while other times I wanted him gone. So, the romance was only ok for me. The story was fast paced, gripping and I did like Naya very much, she put too much pressure on herself. I ended up rating this a 3.5 stars and rounding up and I am interested in this series to continue.
I received an ebook, via Netgalley. This review is my own honest opinion

Amazing! Brutal and spicy! I could not put it down!
The world building was effortless and complete, the characters rich and exciting.
A strong, fighter of an fmc and a harsh, morally black leader mmc. The plot has left me breathless and eager, I am desperate for book 2.

Zoey Ellis has returned to the world of Alpha's and Omega's with a bang (every pun intended!) and I'm already chomping at the bit for the next book. If you don't know what a dark omegaverse romance is then I do advise doing some research before trying this, if you're a fan of the genre then I highly recommend it. That said, I would recommend first reading the author's "Crave" series, this is a next generation follow-up and it would help build in some history of the world this is set in.

I loved Naya, she was perfectly imperfect. Clever, strong and brave but also fallible and emotional, she was a rounded, believable heroine with whom I could very much empathise. Akoro was a typical Alpha ass and his initial treatment of Naya is quite shocking, as the story progresses he has a few redeeming moments and displays some wonderful possessiveness. Typical Alpha that he is though, he has to go and spoil it all with his arrogant and single-minded ways.

The author's voice quickly drew me into the story, the ebb and flow of the plot, with high-tension moments followed by gentler scenes allowed me to immerse myself fully into the story. This is a series I already feel fully invested in - it also left me wanting to read other books by the author.

TW - there are some scenes I would describe more as dub-con than non-con due to the omegaverse dynamics.

Thank you for this ARC!

I think it's been a while since I loved and hated a main character as much as Akoro. I'm fully team Naya here, and I can't wait for book two and see what happens next. I love a good FMC that can defend herself, is smart as hell, and is a badass.

WOW! I hadn’t read any Zoey Ellis books before and this one seemed interesting from the description. I was not prepared for how AMAZING, STRESSFUL, and ENRAPTURING this book was! The cover is so bad, like throw it away and start again, but the book it’s self is truly a masterpiece! The way Zoey writes is enthralling and I couldn’t stop, like 3am night kind of reading if you know what I mean.

A true enemies to lovers (not that BS softies shit) like the MMC beats her up and then she kind of falls in love with him because he’s her mate but still hates him? Idk how to explain it but it grow on you like a nice bottle of wine. Taste like garbage at first and then it’s all you can drink and you’re obsessed! 🥵 It’s 1000% recommend this to any romantasy lover who favors the darker side! It’s not crazy but it’s thoroughly enjoyable and an great ride, can’t wait for the next one!

💫 𝔸𝕧𝕒𝕚𝕝𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖 𝕠𝕟 𝕖𝕓𝕠𝕠𝕜 & 𝕡𝕒𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜

An alpahole MMC with just the right amount of tenderness to keep you hooked, a strong-willed and smart FMC, angry smexy scenes, lots of sexual tension, and true enemies to lovers vibes coupled with unique magic, world building, and dark suspense make this a very enjoyable and binge-worthy read that I flew through in a day!

Naya is an Omega princess convinced that without finding her mate she can never be a suitable ruler over the empire her parents built. After years of searching without success, Naya’s parents have stated an arranged marriage is necessary. While Naya contemplates her match choices, she is kidnapped and dragged to another kingdom.

Akoro is the alpha king with his eyes on overthrowing and conquering Naya’s home. He decides to kidnap the princess and force her to divulge all of her kingdoms secrets through any means necessary.

The dynamic between Akoro and Naya reminded of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones - which I am all here for!! It is very much the barbarian and princess vibe that shows the darker and real side of being a captive in that situation. Again check those TW! As a Dark Fantasy lover, I was eating up every single moment.

This ends of a major cliffhanger and I will most definitely be counting down the days until book 2! So yes, I highly recommend this dark fantasy, very spicy, omegaverse read!

I hate cliff hangers, but this one I couldn’t put down. When Nayara is kidnapped from her home, she is horrified to find her kidnapper is her true mate. After being tortured, abused , can she find a way to save her kingdom?

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

SCARS OF HIS WRATH is the first instalment in Zoey Ellis’ adult MYTH OF OMEGA: WRATH dark, erotic, fantasy series focusing on Alpha Akoro, and Omega Naya.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Akoro and Naya) SCARS OF HIS WRATH follows Princess Nayara Andaus aka Naya, a twenty five year old Omega, wielder of powerful magic but a woman without a true mate or a will to move on from the past. Abducted by a stranger from the forest she loves, Naya finds herself a prisoner, tortured and abused, a prisoner who is about to face her future in the guise of Alpha Akoro, a man who is determined to destroy her body and soul. Akoro and his army have set their sights on Naya’s lands, seeking vengeance for sins of the past, sins that continue to destroy the people and lands Akoro inhabits. What ensues is the acrimonious relationship between Akoro and Naya, and the fall-out as Naya is about to become a pawn in a war between Akoro and the people Naya loves.

The world building is detailed and dark. The reader is pulled into a desolate landscape where nothing is able to survive, as our heroine struggles to remain herself in spite of what is happening around her including the torture meant to break her will.

The relationship between Akoro and Naya is tempestuous at best. Naya is Akoro’s prisoner, treated with disdain by the man who is about to claim Naya as his mate. Naya is nothing more than the key to Akoro’s revenge, and in this, Naya is about to sacrifice to save the people she loves. The $ex scenes are intense and not without questionable consent or tenderness.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters most of whom bow down to Alpha Akoro. Magic is a part of both worlds, and in this, each character is imbued with a speciality and gift that can be used including dark and light magic.

SCARS OF HIS WRATH is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, magic and mayhem. The premise is dark and dramatic; the characters are powerful, magical and determined; the romance is non-existent-Akoro takes from Naya whenever he wants.SCARS OF HIS WRATH ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned

This book surprised me in a way I was not expecting. To be funny honest, I was in for a fun time. And I got it. Only I got even more!!! A paranormal omega verse enemies to lovers story where she is a princess looking for her true mate and he is the beast from a different world who has been planning for so long to unleash destruction on her family and her entire empire. I loved it. It was raw, cruel and full of frustration, primal need and angst, and I loved every second of it. Was I expecting it? Maybe not. But I’m pleased by what I found. It is an engaging story that brings you in from the very first second and draws you deeper and deeper into despair and pain and frustration and lust and smut times. After all when Alphas and Omegas are in the same room and one or both feel something more for one another … denying it is pointless. I’m truly looking forward to more books in this series and I really wanna get to read more in Naya and Akoro’s story!!!

This was a really fascinating book with a unique range of characters, interesting magic system and beautiful world building! The dynamic of Alpha X Omega was also really interesting, and i think it was done in a unique way that isn't seen too often.

While saying that i was very confused right at the start. There were so many fundamental parts of the world, magic system and dynamics that weren't really explained. I either had to make my own conclusions/assumptions, or wait right till the end for things to be revealed. That is really the only thing that i struggled with, and while it was hard to get into the story with all of these confusing elements, it did make it more intriguing the further into the story i progressed, when things were being revealed or becoming obvious.

It wasn't at all what i was expecting. I thought that there would have been less of a romantic struggle between the two main characters because of the Alpha X Omega dynamic, but it was interesting and refreshing to have it spun in this way.
The MMC is almost entirely irredeemable in my opinion. Right at the start his actions didn't seem too bad, all things considered, but as soon as he realized what they were to each other, his behavior didn't change even in the slightest. I wasn't expecting insta love, but for him to carry on being emotionally abusive followed by the physical abuse (even if they were both acting on their based instincts) was still such a dick thing for his character to do.
Add in the fact that his POV later on has him feeling confused and almost sorry for his actions (only after she's become a shell of who she is) but still doesn't address them or try to atone for made me a million times madder.

While i hate the MMC with every fiber of my being, i think that the FMC is really complex and seems like the most thought out character of the bunch. She's a walking contradiction who just wants the best for her people while longing for her true mate (sucks for her). She's also really freaking strong to have gone through everything that she has and still come out at the end fighting tooth and nail against the MMC.

Again, the magic system and world building is really fascinating! The way that the Omega's are the ones to wield magic in her world and yet the magic behaves differently in his was very intriguing and posed a lot of struggles for her that she didn't understand. The cultural differences and differences in tech should also make for a very cool cross over when they try to invade her land!

Again, a very interesting story with unique world building and magic, some bad ass characters and a mmc i want to strangle then kick in the balls. I'm also devastated about the cliffhanger! It was so intense and abrupt, and i'm on edge to see how things will go in book 2.
I desperately want her to come out on top and kick his ass, but at the same time i want her to have a happy ending with everything working its self out in the end. I think for once i'm hoping that there will be a different male that turns up and sweeps her off her feet, because i'll be fuming if he changes slightly and they work things out and she accepts him without much of a fight.
Overall though, really enjoyable, and i can't wait to see what happens.

I did not see the list of content warnings until I opened the book. I cannot read dub-con books so I unfortunately cannot read this book. Thank you for the opportunity

i liked this more than i thought i would to be honest.

the story was decent but i felt like there could have been more explanations, it felt like the plot was drawn out a bit unnecessarily.

also the use of another language was really frustrating as there were no translations available? some of it you could understand by context but not all.

it seemed like the editor got SUPER lazy about halfway through the book.
certain parts were difficult to read and understand due to the many spelling and grammar mistakes.
in one sentence naya’s name was written as ‘near’.

the lack of editing was pretty disappointing considering how many other books the author has written.

regardless, i did enjoy it and will read the next one.

This is what they mean when they say enemies to lovers except they're definitely still enemies. I've read omegaverse before but this was omegaverse and dark fantasy mixed together that gave the book a lot of layers. This is the beginning of a series spin off from another series that I haven't read yet but you wouldn't know reading this so it doesn't take away from the story. What a cliffhanger!

Naya is the princess and heir to her kingdom. She is a powerful magic wielder and an Omega who believes finding her true mate will help her rule her kingdom when the time comes. Until one day she's stolen away to a distant land where her powers are useless. Akoro is the cold hearted Alpha king of his people who is determined to destroy her empire and demands she help him. Naya is devastated to discover that he is the true mate she's been searching for all along.

Scars of His Wrath features a world that you find yourself easily immersed in. Naya and Akoro both have depth and backstories that draw you in. Author Zoey Ellis writes vivid descriptions of characters and setting, just further enhancing the story.

Scars of His Wrath is the first within this series ends on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read future works by this author.

“Scars of His Wrath,” by Zoey Ellis

Naya is a beloved omega with magic, her people wait for the day she reigns and protect the people, but she suffers from trauma with a tragedy in her past. The key to getting rid of her memories relies on finding her fated mate. No one seems to light the mated bond despite her search until she is stolen. Kidnapped by Akoro, an alpha king from a distant land bent on taking over her world. Naya is determined to protect her kingdom, but the mating bond keeps getting in the way.

This book gave me serious Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones vibes. A barbarian kidnaps princess who is sweet and naïve. I loved the entire concept of the book. The romance is intense with the “you do what I say, when I say” vibes but with the omega’s desire to obey against their own will rules. I can’t wait for book 2. 4 out of 5 stars.

-Multi POV
-Magic
-Omegaverse
-Barbarians
-Enemies To Lovers
-Kidnapped

Thank you for the ARC.
