TWs: sexual assault, rape
Eden and Lorrie are two best friends who are seemingly thrilled when their children start dating, just like they had always hoped. But an allegation of rape from Eden's daughter, Summer, against Lorrie's son, Knox, blows their families and friendships apart into chaos.

It was interesting to see how each family had such different dynamics and how that influenced their parenting styles. It's told from multiple POVs of the people living in the Mountaindale neighborhood outcast. The drama really is very Real-Housewives-esque and everything is not as perfect as it seems in each family despite their outward portrayal of happiness and content. We get multiple perspectives on the situation unfolding between the 2 central families. It unfortunately turns into a he-said-she-said, and the author does a really good job of portraying the different emotions and perspectives of everyone impacted, especially Summer and Eden, who are processing their current and past traumas. It was interesting to see how the MeToo Movement has influenced how Summer is treated by society vs how her mom, Eden, was before the Movement (and how in some ways, it hasn't changed), but how the legal system has a long ways to go in cases of rape/sexual assault. This book shows how everyone is complicated, and there are good people who do bad things.

This was a great novel from the author that was able to navigate a heavy topic very well. Her writing was phenomenal and it was so easy to get engrossed in the book and keep reading until the end. The suspense was perfectly built. The standout character of this book was Archie, the middle child: he was a good kid and was very introspective that makes me just want the best for him and to see him thrive.

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this Advanced Reader’s Copy of Such a Good Family by Caitlin Weaver due to be published June 12, 2024.
Lorrie was thrilled when her son, Knox, began dating her best friend, Eden’s daughter. But when Summer comes home with allegations against Knox, will her family ever be the same again? Does she know Knox as well as she thinks, or is everything she thought about her perfect family a lie?
Wow! Wow! Wow! What a great book! It explored the subject of rape from all sides – the victim, the person accused, and the family. The characters were very well developed and I learned about the difference between a family with an only child and a family with three children and what the hierarchy is in each. It was very well written and told from points of views of the parents and the children. On one hand you definitely felt sorry for Summer, but Knox had so many problems that needed to be fixed. Also, Knox’s brother, Archie, came into his own in the book. This is one I would highly recommend! I read it in one day.
