Wow this book was fast paced, and i loved the fact that each chapter was for a different character in the story. The plot was amazing and it made you seen what the consequences of one's actions could cause, Loved Archie! The dynamics betweens the best friends Lorrie and Eden was good and it made you see how friendships can be stretched. Really good story . would recommend to friends

Lorrie and Eden are next door neighbors and best friends. Their families spend holidays together, and their kids grew up together and eventually Lorrie's son Knox begins dating Eden's daughter Summer. They always wanted this to happen and are happy they're together. But then, Summer accuses Knox of rape and everything changes.

I was intrigued by the plot and drama, and felt that the first half of the story had me pulled in. But the ending left me wanting more. Many of the characters were hard to like, and it was difficult for me to sympthatize with Eden, who had a good backstory and motive but made some questionable decisions.

Woof. I thought this was going to be a typical domestic thriller. Boy was I wrong. This was a gut wrenching family drama. Even calling it that feels like I am trivializing the topics at hand. This was a deep look into how one event can change the trajectory of the lives of many people. I don’t want to spoil anything but just know it’s heavy all around. Each character has their own wounds and their own journey that we go on with them through their POVs, which I loved.

This book was a page turner for me but I was a little disappointed by the end of the book and how it ended. It seemed to end abruptly and I wanted to know more about the characters.

Trigger Warning: Rape & Sexual Assault & Mental Health
Although a difficult topic to read about, I found the author did a fantastic job demonstrating the impact and reality (justice system) of sexual assault. One criticism I did have was it was hard to follow the timeline at the start of the book (flashbacks, flash forwards) and let's be real...the parents sucked. But, I do appreciate how we got to see the impacts it has on everyone in the future. Overall, a hard and heartbreaking read. Archie also deserved better throughout this book and glad he got a good ending for the most part. Thank you to NetGalley, Caitlin Weaver and Storm Publishing for the ARC.

Juicy. Entertaining. Addictive. These are three words that immediately come to mind when describing SUCH A GOOD FAMILY by Caitlin Weaver. This novel really sucked me in, book friends. It was impossible to put down, and I couldn’t help but binge it in just a few sittings.

The lives of two families are turned upside-down and all around after an incident occurs at a high school party. Parents of teenagers absolutely need to read this book. The topics explored are eye-opening, thought-provoking, sensitive, and heavy, which made my emotions run high. I loved the build-up of tension between the two families, and witnessing what a parent is willing to do in order to protect their child.

READ THIS IF YOU ENJOY:

- Neighborhood drama
- Teenage angst and behavior
- Female friendship
- Motherhood and marriage
- Family dynamics and secrets
- Multiple POVs

Weaver has a new novel coming out on September 27th called THINGS WE NEVER SAY, and I can’t wait to read it.

5/5 juicy stars for SUCH A GOOD FAMILY!

Oh, WOW I didn’t realise this was a debut, this book was emotional and heart wrenching. I think this a gripping domestic thriller full of secrets and betrayal, I enjoyed the multiple POV, so you hear each character’s side of the story, and the character development was brilliant. The way that Weaver kept the story intriguing I was constantly wondering if we knew the whole truth. After that ending I don’t think I will forget this book in a long time. I am eagerly awaiting the next Caitin Weaver book.

This is a debut? No way this was exceptional. The character development, the emotions, the rawness, and the secrets. It’s crazy how something so devastating can change the lives of so many.

I love how the author made each adult character maybe even the children as well, be not perfect characters. Each person made decisions that made you say, really bro? I.e. Eden in the hospital. I’m still mad about that!

This was so raw and realistic. I felt the emotions of both mothers and their damaged friendship.

That ending almost made me cry.

This is more of a domestic drama than a thriller. It was definitely engaging and interesting, but I just felt like it went on a little too long and it dragged at some point. A good book for a discussion in a book club.

This book grabbed me right from the get go. This story comes from multiple perspectives and allows the reader to really wonder how objective they would be if their family member was put in a traumatic position. This story does have a TRIGGER WARNING of rape, so be mindful as you dive in. I absolutely loved that this book jumped around form person to person to help understand what really happen. Great work Weaver!! This was a quick read although had amazing content, so I didn't ever feel like I was going without. This was a very emotional book, causing an internal inventory of thoughts, feelings, biases, and more. I found myself siding with one person then really examined what was coming up for me in that moment to pull that way. I would highly recommend this excellent work that helps you do. a deeper dive into your own personal defenses.
Huge thank you to NetGalley, Caitlin Weaver, and Storm Publishing for this 10 our 10 work.

I started this novel full of excitement but was a little disappointed. The characters were flat and stereotypical. The author didn’t really give reasons why Knox would be addicted to porn, or why he wouldn’t ask for help with his mental problems. The neighborhood was similarly stereotypical and it was hard at first to keep everyone’s name in order. Lorrrie was the type A former lawyer who is now a stay at home mom. Eden is the gorgeous ex-model with a difficult last. These 2 ladies are supposedly the best of friends and yet they turn on each other immediately. The husbands of both women are flat. Ed is a popular doctor who is cheating and smarmy. Witt, on the other hand , is the best and only wants to please his wife. The premise of this novel is good but u fortunately never came to fruition

This was such a thought provoking emotional book. I really enjoyed it. Author Catlin Weaver gives voice to such a sensitive subject matter and handles it with such thoughtfulness. As a boy mom this subject hit me particularly hard. How would I handle this situation? There are so many people affected by this subject matter and so many lives were forever changed. This book really fleshed out all the different emotions and sides to this story. Definitely recommend especially for book clubs!

So I have a daughter, and my best friend has a son, and they are one week apart, and we always joke about them getting married. Not after reading this book!

When Lorrie and Eden’s high school senior children start dating, they think it’s great! Then one night, something happens between the two teens , and the two families are both linked and torn apart. This story was beautifully written and heartbreaking at the same time. I would t really consider it a thriller though.

Such a Good Family by Caitlin Weaver addresses some very timely issues. Best friends Laurie and Summer are neighbors and their children Knox and Elena begin dating. An accusation of rape occurs and has a ripple effect to not only Laurie and Summer but their community at large. The author does a great job of handling this delicate topic and making you feel empathy for both mothers in this scenario. This would be a good novel for a book club. Thank you to the publisher and #netgalley for providing me with an advance readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Such a Good Family" by Caitlin Weaver is a gripping domestic thriller that unravels the complexities of family dynamics, secrets, and betrayal.

The story follows the lives of two wealthy families, whose perfect facade starts to crumble when deep-rooted secrets begin to surface, threatening to shatter their carefully constructed image. Lorrie Keller and Eden VanDoran have been best friends ever since they bonded as newcomers to their affluent suburb when their children were little. They’re used to letting themselves into each other’s houses for coffee after school drop-off and gossiping about their neighbors over wine at their book club. So, when their teenage kids, Knox and Summer, start dating just before graduation, they’re surprised but delighted.

One night, Knox comes home late after a party with scratches on his collarbone. The next morning, Summer ...is in the hospital!

Caitlin Weaver's writing in "Such a Good Family" is incredibly poignant and evocative, bringing to life the intricate layers of each character. The author delves deep into the minds and hearts of the characters, allowing readers to connect with their struggles, flaws, and desires on a profound level. The narrative is told from different points of view, which makes this book an enriching experience for the reader, making them realize the different perspectives on the same problem.

One of the key themes explored in the book is the importance of addressing violence and sexual abuse in the younger generation, especially within the context of a patriarchal society education. Weaver skillfully highlights how a lack of education and awareness can perpetuate toxic behavior and cycles of abuse. By shedding light on these issues, the novel serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of promoting healthy relationships and empowering individuals to break free from harmful patterns.

In her debut novel, Caitlin Weaver delivers a powerful and thought-provoking story that will linger in your mind long after you've turned the final page. "Such a Good Family" is a remarkable exploration of family, love, betrayal, and resilience, making it a must-read for anyone seeking a compelling and insightful literary experience.
