I have been a fan of Robin Cook for many years but it's been a long time since I've picked up one of his books. Bellevue has his trademarked great writing style and descriptions, it is extremely atmospheric and has a very creepy feel. It went off the rails a bit towards the middle in a way that some readers will love and some will hate. (I wasn't much of a fan). I loved learning about Bellevue though, I hadn't even realized that it was a real place until I finished the book. A lot of great historical details are sprinkled throughout the book. A fun story but a bit far fetched.

I’ve read a couple books by Cook in the past and loved them, so I was super excited to read this one. Unfortunately, this wasn’t what I was hoping for. Chapter one was gruesome but interesting while also having innumerable details about things that had no bearing on the story. Once we reached present day, the foreshadowing was heavy handed. Mick’s “sixth sense” and his mind reading abilities (but only when they lock eyes) were described in great detail, only for Mick to feel the same sensations (that were described previously) multiple times before he thought all about them minutes later while talking with his friend. There was so much repetition throughout the story; thoughts were thought then discussed, events happened and then had to be recounted to multiple people in multiple different conversations. The dialogue felt stilted and unreal, like the characters were caricatures of people.
While I love the concept, I feel like the author was trying too hard to sell the paranormal aspects of the story and didn’t spend enough attention on making the non-paranormal pieces work.

I haven't read Robin Cook in years.
And then I happened to see this available and I had to dive back in.

Cook always weaves a tale in some medical setting but that tends to be background for me, because the absolutely wild ride you end up on, crazy.

Weird feelings in a hospital, is it just the creepy crawlies, or is something going on be it medical, physical or all in your head, you decide.

Bellevue is the story of Matthew "Mitt" Fuller and his first year of surgical residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Mitt comes from a long line of doctors who previously served at Bellevue and his family legacy precedes him. We quickly learn that past family members had a less than positive past and Mitt's experience turns negative with unexplained deaths of his patients. He also experiences strange smells and sights. If he says something about these strange experiences, it could end his career.

I have not read any of Robin Cook's books in many years. Bellevue drew me in and kept me engaged. I really enjoyed the historical aspects of the book. It left me wanting to know more about Bellevue.

The only that that was not for me were the supernatural parts of the book and this was a major part of this book. Besides that, I would give this book a strong Four Stars.

This is my first Robin Cook and I was excited to read this book as I do love a good medical thriller and was excited with the paranormal aspect.
I did enjoy the book and found the story intriguing but I felt that the story went on a little longer than appreciated and then the ending was abrupt and a I wasn’t surprised by the ending.
I still feel the book was worth the read!

Cook dives deep into Mitt's family history to give us a gripping back story that reveals one startling discovery after another! Every time you think it must be over, another patient dies. Every time you think Mitt might start to get a handle on things, the script abruptly flips again! By the final page, my jaw was ON THE FLOOR.

I couldn't put this book down. I could not get to the next page fast enough! Unexpectedly, this was another stellar read from an outstanding author! Many thanks to Robin, the publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read and review this advance copy of the novel.

BELLEVUE - I have read many books on Bellevue, fact and fiction, and many books by Robin Cook. This one blows me away. The last paragraph is beyond words. The perfect revenge and the accused .... Well written, immersing, hard to put down, set at a good pace with good characters and interesting story lines makes for another intriguing read. Very enjoyable haunted hospital tale. It was interesting going through the first days of a first year surgical resident. Although, I may be a little more nervous the next time I have to be in the hospital.

I really wanted to like this, I'm oddly fascinated by Bellevue, so I figured this was right up my alley. Unfortunately, it didn't really work for me. The premise of something supernaturally fishy going on at the hospital seems cool! But there ultimately were way too many tingles and weird smells and bad feelings and not enough engaging substance. It was just a little too contrived and slow for me.

This was a very unusual book with elements of the paranormal as well as medical.
. In some places there was too much medial jargon. There were not a lot of characters to keep track of like many books, so that is a plus.

The infamous Bellevue Hospital dark history comes alive in Robin Cook's, Bellevue. For generations, the Fuller family has served as medical physicians in this hospital. Mitt Fuller continues in his family footsteps when he is assigned his surgical residency at Bellevue Hospital. Mitt is given several patients to monitor during his residency. Unexplained deaths occur under Mitt's watch leading him to question his family's legacy at Bellevue.

Robin Cook's take on the dark history of Bellevue is a page turner from start to finish. I highly recommend this book as it will send chills up your spine with Bellevue's ghostly residence.

3.75 ⭐️ my major complaint is: i need more!!! Bellevue was overall a good read for me, i don’t love a predictable ending/book and i don’t always want a happily ever after ending but Mitt was the good guy!!!! For this book to end so abruptly was just UGHHHH not it for me. I totally enjoyed most other aspects of this book, but either wanted more details or idk something more than the ending. The epilogue did help round out the story but could’ve used more!

This book was so good! I flew through it!
Can't wait to go back and read more by this author!

Michael “Mitt” Fuller is starting his residency at the well known Bellevue Hospital which four generations of his family has practiced. He keeps getting feelings around the hospital. Unnatural feelings. His first patient dies, and the number keeps compounding.

This was my first Robin Cook book. I wasn’t expecting the emphasis on the paranormal. I was invested in the story and learning more about his family’s background. I did feel the ending was very abrupt.

I enjoyed the medical part, but the supernatural part lost me.

I do have a lot of reader friends that love supernatural and I will recommend this to them.

Bizarre story even for Robin Cook. Sometimes the story didn't track well - seemed confusing. Hopefully that will be edited before publication.

Another great medical mystery from Robin Cook. Always enjoy reading his books. Learned alot about Bellvue Hospital that i didnt previously know about New. york City.

Always a pleasure to read a Robin Cook book. The medical knowledge and story never ceases to amaze me. If you are a fan of Grey’s anatomy and thrillers then this is for you.

Mitt Fuller starts his surgical residency at the iconic Bellevue Hospital. He has four previous generations of Fuller doctors. Before long, patient after patient starts dying and Mitt must try to figure out exactly what is happening. He has terrifying visions and doesn't quite understand what they mean. Robin Cook is a master at writing medical thrillers and I loved the paranormal aspect to this as well. Great read!

I spent the better part of two days reading this book and when it was over I was speechless. Let me start by saying the book is fabulous, but nothing prepared me, by that I mean what! I won't give anything away, just read it, and you will get more than you bargained for.
