Liar's Point by Laura Griffin is a fast-paced thriller that hits all the right notes—mystery, suspense, and a touch of romance. With a protagonist as sharp as Riley, you’re hooked from page one, trying to figure out who’s lying and who’s telling the truth. Griffin’s knack for building tension is impressive, and her plot twists will leave you questioning everything. Sure, some parts are a tad predictable, but honestly, it’s still a wild ride. If you love a good mystery with a side of swoon-worthy moments, Liar's Point is a solid four-star read. Just don’t trust anyone, especially if they’re too charming!

An intense, fast paced novel with just enough steam, plot twists, and romance! This is my first by Laura and it's definitely not my last.

Nicole Lawson and Emmett Dawson are assigned to work together to solve a string of murders and even though Nicole thinks she should have been given lead, she secretly has feelings for Emmett and he feels protective of her. Twists and turns kept me guessing and listening right to the end. One of my favorite authors!

I've enjoyed the entire Texas Murder Files series. From the first chapter, I was drawn in to the mystery of solving the murder while also getting caught up in Nicole & Emmett's chemistry.

Liar’s Point (The Texas Murder Files #5) was another great read by Laura Griffin. Detective Nicole Lawson is on her first date in months and it gets cut short by an urgent call from the chief of police. There was a body discovered at Lighthouse Point and there are strange clues left behind. Emmet Davis is a veteran Detective at the Long Beach police department, and is leading the investigation. He is Nicole’s fiercest rival at work and she’s also had feelings for him for years. Another person ends up dead and Nicole sees a strange pattern but no one believes her theory. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.

I'm new to this series (at book 5 here) and got the feeling that it's a solid romantic suspense series that can be read as standalone books but I would have perhaps benefited from reading the others first (though I could still enjoy this 0ne w/o that).

I liked the action, the slightly forbidden romance, and the high-powered jobs. I think the chemistry was great and, while it was more spice than I like to read (which is pretty much no spice) I still enjoyed the book overall.

Note: Language, M/F relationship with moderate spice

I really enjoyed Liar's Point by Laura Griffin. It is her newest beachy romance suspense book and a definite must read this Summer.

I loved watching Detective Nicole Lawson's love life unfold in the story. Detective Lawson was easily one of my favorite characters followed by Detective Emmet Davis.

The story was so much fun to read and listen to. I was fortunate enough to receive both a digital and audiobook copy of Liars Point. I loved the romance, the suspense, and mystery. The second half of the book was my absolute favorite because it's when everything starts to come together and facts about the case are slowly revealed. The ending was well done.

The narration done by Teri Clark Linden was spot on for me. She did a great job bringing the story to life.

Thank you so much to Berkley for the digital review copy as part of their blog blitz. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audiobook review copy

Definitely a 5 out of 5 for me!!!

This was a nice murder mystery book with excellent voice acting. There are certainly moments of frustration due to drip feeding or characters withholding information to pad out the story. However, I did enjoy this book even though it's required a bit more suspension of disbelief.

While not the best in the series, I appreciated the main characters and the tension that was developed in the other books in the series.

This series continues to entertain. I love the chemistry between Emmit & Nicole, they are such a good pairing. I didn’t think they would ever finally get together. The plot was captivating and didn’t let go until the end. I had to finish this in one go I was so engrossed in the story. Well done

Once again, Laura Griffin gives us another well-written story filled with suspense and romance. I absolutely loved this book. I haven't read the other books in this series, but I liked this one so much I am finding the other books so I can learn about the characters, which I thought the characters were great. It was fast paced and suspenseful.

This was a great title! I enjoyed reading about a new town and a woman in a traditionally considered man's job. I most appreciated how she let her intuition guide her and how her colleagues valued her opinions, even if they were a bit overprotective. It was a great read and I look forward to more by this author!

Nicole is a detective in Lost Beach, Texas and she's just waiting for her boyfriend to show up for their date when her phone rings. A body was found by a jogger and she is needed at the scene. Her busy schedule keeps getting in the way of her personal life and she's aggravated. At first, the scene looks like a suicide but something just feels wrong to Nicole. She has great instincts and follows them to determine that the death was a homicide. She gets paired with Emmet, who she has feelings for, but she is fighting for the respect she deserves from most of the department.

I really enjoyed Nicole's character and the struggle that she has with getting people to take her seriously. It is also relatable to want a relationship outside of the high-stress environment that her job creates. The audiobook was wonderful and I really love a narrator who gives the characters life.

Generally, romances are not my jam, but Laura Griffin writes them in such a manner that I end up loving them. There is enough intrigue, mystery, dead bodies, and whatnot to satisfy my murdery soul! I have really enjoyed this entire series and I hope there are many more to come in the future!

Liar's Point is part of The Texas Murder Files series, but it functions well enough as a standalone. The series falls under the realm of romantic suspense, with an overall arch of police procedural thriller. The focus of this novel is on two characters: Detective Nicole Lawson and Detective Emmet Davis. The Lost Beach Police Department gets a call about a body in a car at Lighthouse Point. When the death gets classified as a homicide, the Chief gives Emmet the title of primary investigator. As Nicole's biggest rival and secret crush, she is upset that Emmet is her superior on this case. When she goes out on her own to investigate, will the ripple effect have lasting issues for her?

Overall, Liar's Point is a good audiobook, with a narrator who does a great job conveying the characters and the story. The pacing is steady and the characters are well developed. The book does fall flat a little, especially with regards to Nicole's character. She is like a bulldog when it gets a scent - pushing forward with no thoughts about personal safety. The fact that Nicole really faces no consequences for insubordination does not seem that realistic. There is some good investigative work described here, but the book focuses so much on the interpersonal relationships that it cheapens the mystery thriller aspects. That being said, readers who like romantic suspense will probably enjoy Liar's Point.

5 It Wasn’t Who I Thought It Was Going to Be Stars!!!

I had the distinct pleasure of both reading and listening to this book and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I’m a lover of everything Ms. Griffin writes and I especially love these interconnected books that take place in Lost Beach. I’ve become invested in all the members of the LBPD and we’ve finally got Nicole’s book.

Nicole is a woman that is so independent and solely focused on her career as a detective while maybe trying to have a love life. Except the man she’s dating isn’t the one she’s really interested in dating and he’s kind of off-limits. When a body is found at Lighthouse Point the investigation sets in motion a bunch of moving targets and as Nicole finds herself not leading the investigation but having to work closely with Emmet the man she’s wanted more than a working relationship with for a long time and it somewhat chaps her hide.

As the investigation goes into high gear, there are leads that have the PD turning in circles and there are leads that create more intrigue especially as more criminal activities start to look to be interconnected. Along the way, the man Nicole is dating the ME for Lost Beach, who appears to me to be somewhat removed from his feelings both for Nicole and the autopsies he’s performing.

As I listened to the book and read it simultaneously I was so captivated. It was all I could do to make it from one medium to another between driving to work while listening and reading during my lunch hour to getting home and reading some more. And let me tell you, I was flabbergasted at the “who done it” of this one. I was so sure I had it figured out!

Not only was the investigation wholly intriguing but watching Nicole and Emmet navigate their feelings for each other brought another fascinating part of this book. It was just the right addition to this mystery. We also got introduced to a couple of new secondary characters that I’m secretly hoping will bring us another book in this series.

Kudos to Ms. Griffin for writing an amazing book and to Teri Clark Linden for superb narration. She voiced all the characters so spectacularly. From beginning to end her narration held my complete attention every single time I pushed play!

This is the fifth book in this series and centers around Nicole and Emmett in the small town of Long Beach. It can be read as a standalone in all actuality. These two have been circling around each other since the first book. We have always known that Nicole has a crush on Emmett while he has been playing the field. I was really interested to see how this one panned out, and I thought that Laura did a great job. The buildup was perfect. The focus of the book is the murder and other strange things happening in the small town with a side focus being Nicole and Emmett. I like how the book ended with them being together and progressing quickly due to how long they have known each other. I read somewhere that this is the last one but am hoping that either isn't true or that there will be a spinoff!

Nicole has been stood up AGAIN. On Valentine's Day no less. And then while she is processing what has happened she gets a call about a body that has been found in a car by the beach. Things don't make sense about the scene though. Everyone is reading it as a suicide, but Nicole feels that they are missing something. More clues slowly start to show up that reveal it was in fact a murder. Nicole and her team immediately zero in on Cassandra who found the body. Nicole knows she isn't getting the whole story from her. So she starts working everything from scratch. Mid investigation she gets run down by a truck and injured. And who comes to her rescue? Emmett. The same Emmett who she has decided to move on from because she doesn't think it will ever happen. But then IT DOES! And now nothing will ever be the same. I mean they work in a small town police department. It can't happen again. But as the investigation unravels further and the picture gets bigger Nicole realizes she can't live without Emmett.

Emmett doesn't know what to do. He has been harboring feelings for Nicole for a long time but has never figure out when to make a move because she is so competitive with him. And now she has a boyfriend and he has to act like he is ok with everything. To distract himself, he focuses on the current investigation they are working together. The one where he is the lead and there is not a lot to go on. The one where Nicole has now been hurt and he finds himself not being able to stay away. The one where he realizes he wants to figure this out with her and make it work. The one where things aren't as they seem and as they continue to investigate, the players get big on a level that is outside of their jurisdiction. Will they be able to get justice before it is too late?

I listened to this on audible and wanted to thank NetGalley and DreamScape for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed the narrator. I thought she did a good job with the voices. Emmett's was nice and scratchy for me LOL. I recommend this book and this series if you like a suspense/murder novel with a dash of romance on the side.

There's something therapeutic about Laura Griffin's writing. Although Laura Griffin's writing has some predictability to it, there are still twists and turns I don't always see coming.

Liars point was Nicole and Emmett's story. They've been a part of the series the whole time, so it was nice to see them get there happy ending.

I thoroughly enjoy the audio narration, and even bought the physical copy to switch off with.

I can't wait to see what she writes next!

First I want to thank Dreamscape Media for providing me an advanced copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the story of Nicole and Emmet, Lost Beach police detectives, who after mistaking concluding a death as a suicide they are informed it is a homicide and they behind the curve. While working the case together it continues to unravel with more abnormal deaths around the island which all seem to be focused around a specific individual. As Emmet was named lead on the case Nicole does everything in her power to prove herself to him and the Chief even while she is dealing with a flailing relationship with the ME and her feelings for Emmet. Emmet on the other hand is going crazy trying to keep Nicole safe and ignore his growing feelings for her. As the trail to the culprit gets hotter, so does Emmet and Nicole's relationship but will they be able to have a relationship and still work together.

What I Loved:
- Audiobook quality, the overall quality of the narrators and just the audiobook in general is amazing. I'm a 2X minimum listener and I didn't feel like any quality was lost with the faster speed
- Friends to Lovers, Nicole and Emmet grew up together and have known each other for ages and that made their relationship when they did finally make the step just so fulfilling
- Slow Burn, as I have read all of the books in this series I've known about Nicole and Emmet for a while and even that was a build up and then in the book it took a min so when they do get together I mentally was like...."FINALLY"
- Protector, Emmet is such a protector especially when it comes to Nicole when she was in danger he dropped what he was doing to be at her side and just be there for her even when she doesn't think she wants it
- Past characters, I love book series cause I love getting to see past characters in all of the books so having them pop up throughout the book was fun and reminded me of their stories
- Location, as a Texas girl myself I just love the town of Lost Beach since I know this type of town and its just an added comfort when I read....even if its a suspense

As soon as I got approved for this ARC I started listening right away and I went on an extra long walk cause I didn't want to stop listening. I love this book series and if you want to read this as a standalone you absolutely can and hopefully will go back and pick up the others in the series after. If you are looking for a friends to lovers romantic suspense set in a small Texas costal town with an interesting mystery and a lot of great characters please pick this book up!

I been wanting to start this series since Laura Griffin books are fast paced suspense with a touch of romance. Glad that this definitely can be read as a standalone. Detective Nicole Lawson once again needs to cancel plans as she is off and running to another crime scene. On scene is Detective Emmet Davis, her crush for years and as normal he seems to be second guessing her. Always a battle for Nicole to prove herself in the male dominant world she works in. Her second sense or maybe female intuition has helped her solve cases before and once again she depends on it as now there is another murder.
The narrator was great, no confusion on whose voice is whose. She grabs you with the storyline immediately and I listened to the book in a day. Thank you #NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions expressed are mine own. #LiarsPoint. #TheTexasMurderFiles
