Wow. This was a combination of two of my favorite things. Romance and Cops stuff! (Ha) this was truly so enjoyable. The narration was well paced and the narrator did a phenomenal job and differentiating characters by making signature choices for each. The third person pov did get Miley confusing at times between Cas and Nic but once I was used to who was who it wasn’t hard to follow. The characters were a bit flat but the story was so damn action packed it wasn’t even slightly bothersome. This Audio kept me on the edge of my seat and the shoot out, bury you alive situation made me feel like I was watching an episode of swat. I was living for it. I didn’t want to push pause. Pick you up and grabs you in from the first chapter and then never puts you down.

As with Laura Griffin’s past stories in this series, Liar’s Point was an engrossing combination of crime procedure and romance, that I breezed right through!
A jogger discovers a woman dead in her car, which appears to be an overdose. However, it turns out the woman was murdered. Nicole and her partner Emmett, as well as all the Lost Beach police force come together to find the killer.
I’ve been eager to read Nicole’s story since Midnight Dunes and Deep Tide where she contributed significantly to nailing down the killer. Nicole and Emmett have been circling around each other with chemistry and attraction brewing between them, so I was pleased to finally see them paired.
I really enjoyed getting back to Lost Beach, Texas, as I’ve gotten to know the small, tight-knit group of detectives and their families. Nicole is a persistent detective with good instincts, and I was thrilled to see her recognized as such. Her determination, constantly following up with the witnesses, and pursuing the evidence is what ultimately solved this case.
The story is part of a series, but it’s not necessary to read the previous stories to enjoy this one, as each features a separate couple and mystery that’s wrapped up by the end.
I alternately read and listened to an audio copy of Liar’s Point narrated by Teri Clark Linden. I’ve enjoyed many stories narrated by her! She expertly performed both male and female characters, bringing Nicole and Emmett, as well as the other characters, to life!

Thanks @Berkleypub and @DreamscapeMedia for my advanced copies. #BerkleyPartner #Berkley #DreamscapeMedia
I can’t believe this is book five in the series. And I know I mention this every time, but I use the word series loosely. All the books are set in the same universe and often the supporting characters were in a previous (or future) book, but there is no need to read books 1-4 to enjoy book 5. And if you like contemporary suspense, you will like this one. But you are rewarded for reading the other books as the characters from the previous books pop in and you get to see where life has taken them.
I always know there will be a HEA at the end, but the journey to get there is what I enjoy. The twists, the setbacks or hurdles for the couple and how they overcome danger. The author is so good at mixing the mystery and the romance into a balanced story.
Nicole and Emmet are likable from the start, while they are both flawed, it just adds to their charm. Nicole is a strong female character that is always trying to prove she is as good as the men around her. Emmet is the lead on the latest case and he is always trying to protect Nicole. Anyone can see how smitten they are but it takes them a while to catch on. There was a longer than normal slow burn to start this one, but the wait is worth it.
The tension of the case starts out low and builds as the story progresses with lots of action in the last part of the book.
I loved Teri Clark’s narration. She created distinct voices for both main characters and a few of the side characters. She made it so easy to listen and follow along. She depicted Nicole’s defensiveness and the emotions and tension as the story progressed.
Such a great read or listen for those that are fans of contemporary suspense.

Liar's Point by Laura Griffin and narrated by Teri Clark Linden is a stunner of a thriller and I absolutely loved it!
The slow burn with Nicole and Emmett was a secondary storyline, but one I devoured. I have never heard or read any of the Texas Murder Files before, but this audiobook has me utterly hooked into the series. The writing is gripping, the narration is on point and I am enthralled!
Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, Laura Griffin and Teri Clark Linden for this stunning ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

Liar’s Point is book 5 in the Texas Murder Files series.
While this can certainly be read as a standalone, I recommend reading books 2-4 first because we see quite a bit of Nicole and Emmet in those.
Nicole and Emmet are both detectives with the Lost Beach police department who have secretly harbored feelings for each other for years. When a body is discovered at Lighthouse Point and the death is ruled a homicide, Emmet is named lead detective - a role Nicole believes should have been given to her. After a second body turns up, no one believes her theory that the cases are connected but she must put aside her feelings and work closely with Emmet to solve the case before it’s too late.
This was another gripping, fast-paced mystery with a sizzling romance seamlessly woven in. As expected, I enjoyed the mystery just as much as the romance. I was completely invested in the story from start to finish.
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed the narration by Teri Clark Linden. She did an amazing job bringing the characters to life and I had no trouble following along.
I’m so glad Nicole got her own book. The chemistry between her and Emmet has been simmering beneath the surface for quite some time so I was excited to see them FINALLY get together.
I loved the setting and the wonderful cast of characters. Nicole has become one of my favorites in this series. Her instincts are spot on!
Laura Griffin is an auto-read author for me and has been ever since I discovered the Tracers series back in 2016. Her books always have excellent characters and a great balance of romance and suspense.
If you enjoy police-procedurals and romantic suspense, you should definitely read Laura Griffin’s books!

Laura did such a great job with this story from start to finish it just grabs you and pulls you into it. I love when a book has a strong female lead and this one definitely has that but also she shows her vulnerability. Though she is one great detective and notices that things aren’t the way they seem which leads to more mayhem.

This book is part of a series, but I didn’t have any trouble keep up with the backstory. This is a good example of a romantic suspense that is heavier on the spice and romance. The plot moves quickly, and it’s an easy, enjoyable listen. I was on edge and anxious to turn on the audiobook whenever I could. It was fun! I did speed up the narrator but her voice was pleasant. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

Liar’s Point by Laura Griffin
The Texas Murder Files series #5. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone.
Detective Nicole Lawson has to cancel a date when she’s called to a crime scene. She’s not a fan of the autopsy procedures but she’s great at getting people to talk to her. Except for Detective Emmet Davis. He treats her as if she doesn’t know how to work an investigation or a competent officer. Danger mounts as another woman is found too late.
🎧 I listened to an audiobook narrated by Teri Clark Linden who does the full series to-date. Tension and worry come through clearly in the performance as well as other emotions. Nicole and Emmet have distinct voices as do a couple of the secondary characters. The performance is easy to follow as the murders are discovered and Nicole blows the other investigators out of the water. I listened to this at my regular preferred speed of 1.5.
Gripping and suspenseful.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and publisher Dreamscape Media.

If you’re a fan of Nora Robert’s please pay attention because I’ve got an author that needs to be on your radar. I haven’t read this previous books in this series, and I think it would definitely help, but I was still able to enjoy this one by itself.
The girl next door turned butt kicking detective with one tiny flaw-she’s weirdly grossed out by her job-Nicole, and alpha male detective Emmet have the major hits for each other but their both super bad at communicating and are both emotionally unavailable. While they are investigating a suspected serial killer in a small town in Texas, they realize that they can’t escape the feelings they have for each other and their jobs don’t become their number one priority anymore, though they do end up working it out. The steam factor is high and the story is not super complicated while the setting is intriguing.
If you’re into friends/coworkers to lovers, especially where he falls first, you’ll like this story.
Thanks to Macmillan Audio for this ALC in exchange for my review.

Not great... I didn't feel like this was one of the best but I didn't think it was the worst thriller mystery I've read just a lot of miscommunication for me

Another case in Lost Beach, Texas. While set in the same place as other books by this author, you can read this stand alone and fully enjoy it. I really liked Nicole and Emmet as the police officers in this story. They had such a history of denying their real feelings toward each other. The connection between them was strong and I loved them getting closer. Their personalities worked well together and they showed respect for each other that I found refreshing. The book moved at a good pace and was an interesting case to solve. It had a good amount of suspense and action. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book felt underwhelming to me, I had a hard time staying engaged all the way through. The idea is good with two homicide detectives working together to figure out this mysterious death but I did not love the execution.
I think both the romantic and suspense storylines needed to be more developed. There wasn't much tension or scenes between these two characters. I wish they actually would have worked together more to unveil the big bad. I also think Nicole having an absentee boyfriend for half the book did not help with the progression of their relationship in the slightest. We are told they're attracted to each other but we don't get to really experience that.
The suspense did not keep me engaged enough. I'm so sorry but I just kind of found it boring a little silly.

This was weird combination of romance and mystery. It isn't the first one in the series and I do think you need to read the other books before this one. I don't like the dialogue, it felt forced and awkward at times

Half mystery, half romance
I love mysteries and police procedurals. I am not so into romances. This had a little more romance than I really cared about.
Nicole is a police detective working on a case where some people attached to a yoga studio were killed. While solving the case, she gets involved with a co-worker.
The plot was good, but it was similar enough to a book I read a few days ago that I occasionally forgot which book I was following.
There is no real murder gore, but some racy language when the two police detectives are having sex.

"Focus on the breathing and not the pain."
Good advice for most and necessary for Cassandra, a nervous witness to a body found at Lighthouse Point, a constant spot for turmoil in the growing tourist town of Lost Beach Texas. She's nervous because she's lying to Detective Nicole Lawson and they both know it. In fact, even the body is lying by looking like a drug overdose, but those needle marks are hiding the truth in the latest Texas Murder Files book, Liar's Point, by the always absorbing romance suspense murder mystery author Laura Griffin.
Though Liar's Point is book 5 in this entertaining romance mystery series, it can be a standalone. I did enjoy the cameos from previous characters as each book is dedicated to a specific couple and the murders surrounding them.
Nicole follows the clues about who is lying and what's the truth but then becomes a target. Lead investigator, and Nicole's secret crush for years, Emmet Davis, grounds her. While they spar over her safety, her theories, and who is lying, the sexual tension heats up. You see Emmet's been crushing on Nicole too.
Voice actress Teri Clark Linden gives a perfect performance of a sexually frustrated Nicole, "There was no way she could ever go back to not knowing what it was like to be with him." Definitely some steam in this romance.
People lie in this police procedural about their feelings, their pain, and their murders but Nicole makes a point to always find the truth.
I received free copies of this book/audiobook from the publishers via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Nicole has been called to a murder scene at Lighthouse Point. But there are quite a few strange clues. The Lost Beach Police department is pulling out all stops. Nicole’s adversary has been put in charge of the investigation. These two must work together to get this murder solved.
I have not read a book by this author in a while…WHY? I just don’t know how I have let her slip through the cracks.
This story had me absorbed in all the twists and turns. I enjoy a good guessing game and this one will definitely intrigue you till the end!
I love a good romantic suspense! Nicole and Emmet start out as rivals but then the attraction is too strong to ignore. And the way they have each others backs…
The narrator, Teri Clark Linden, did a great job with all the intensity and the characters.
Need a good mystery with great characters and fabulous twists…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.
I received this novel from this publisher for a honest review.

Listened in one day , could not put it down. Though this is part of a series it can easily be read as a standalone .Action packed, suspense, light romance , good read .

Laura Griffin is one of the most reliable authors when it comes to a solid mystery/thriller with underlying romantic tension. Although this is book 5 in the series, it can be read as a standalone (I just went back and looked, and I have only read book 4 in the series and I didn't feel lost at all in this one). Griffin does a great job of developing her characters, building the tension in her plot, executing satisfying twists, and throwing in some romance to boot. I have come to expect a win whenever I pick up one of her books!

This book is a tasty morsel, if you’re looking to stay up late, reading a well-paced mystery that’s a few steps up from your basic Cozy in both plot and spice.
I found the characters well-developed, the plot interesting, but not overly complicated, the setting intriguing, and the cover, stunning.
Honestly, my only complaint – and it’s a big one – was the lack of chemistry between the two main characters. Between their ridiculous lack of communication and the MMC’s manipulation to Keep The MFC Safe, I wasn’t really invested in them getting together.
As I quite enjoyed several other works by Laura Griffin, I’ll still seek out anything new.
Thanks to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing, and DreamScape Media for this ARC.

When the Lost Beach PD is called to the scene of a suspected suicide near the lighthouse, Detective Nicole Lawson notices some concerning discrepancies and the case is quickly ruled a suicide. With long friend- and crush- Emmet Davis leading the investigation, Nicole thinks things are under control.... until another body turns up and as the case heats up, so does their relationship.
I love this whole series. Lost Beach is a cool setting, the cast of characters is awesome, and the book strikes the perfect balance between police procedural and romance. I love how the secondary characters overlap in the books and the rich backstory it creates. Laura Griffin has built this series the way Amy Sherman Palladino built the Gilmore Girls and it's fantastic! You get to know the area and its inhabitants and you feel like you could be living in this town. 10/10, can't wait for more from this saga!
