I loved the connection to Bachelor Nation, but I wasn't rooting for any of our main characters - so ultimately this fell flat for me.
Loved the sapphic storyline though.

Thank you to the publisher for the gifted copy! I absolutely oved the Bachelor/Bachelorette vibes! This had great banter and chemistry between the two leads - I'm always up for a sapphic romance. What a gem, I loved it and hope to see more from this author!

I loved the concept because I love Bachelor and reality shows. The sapphic love story was a bonus. But this book dragged on for no reason. It could have been resolved in half the time and that made me lose interest pretty soon

Overall 2.75

If you enjoy reality shows, then you'll enjoy this book. It was cheesy and a little over the top for my taste. It's as if they added all the check list of diversity things thrown in.

This wasn't engaging to me. I finished the book but I wasn't rooting for anybody unfortunately. the narrator was good.

If you love realty tv dating shows, sapphic romances, a bit of spice and witty banter, this book is a must.

And if you’re an audiobook fan, this narration is a must! Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for early access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

As I've watched season after season of Love is Blind, and found that I enjoy the friendships formed between the women more than anything else, I have found myself wanting a love story between the female contestants and I am so glad to see it coming to reality. Here for the Wrong Reasons really scratched that itch for me.

Krystin and Lauren join the reality tv dating show Hopelessly Devoted as contestants vying for the heart of an eligible bachelor. But in the show’s most shocking twist yet, as the weeks go by, they end up falling for each other.

I really enjoyed this sapphic contemporary romance! This is a slow burn where their friendship and attraction build over the weeks of filming the show. Krystin is unlearning comp het and coming into the realization that she's a lesbian, while Lauren is grappling with coming out to those in her life outside of the show. Their journeys felt real and satisfying.

I'll definitely be reading more from Paulsen!

Giving all the Bachelor/Bachelorette vibes as contestants, Krystin and Lauren join a dating reality show. It was a fun, lighthearted romance.

*many thanks to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

Totally here for the cute sapphic romance! The narration was pretty good and the storyline was great. Im not always the biggest contemporary fan but i really liked this one.

This is a book for Bachelor/ette fans and not for real romance readers. As someone interested in the Bachelor universe, I noticed a ton of in-jokes and references. That was a lot of fun. However, I found the characters intensely annoying and their actions really upsetting. No one takes responsibility for their actions and it made me feel so anxious.

this was interesting to say the least. I kept putting this one down and picking it back up when I had a lull in my reading, I just didn't enjoy it and couldn't stand either of the characters. I feel like the lgbt-rep was poorly done and could've been focused on more. the story is basically the bachelor. I still haven't seen an actual episode but I get the gist of it.

A bachelor type of a book? Heck yes. I was sold. I did like the book, but I didn't LOVE it. I loved the narrators though and the different POVs.

Here for the Wrong Reasons follows Krystin and Lauren, two very different contestants on a Bachelor-like reality show. Lauren is focused on boosting her social media fame, while Krystin is genuinely looking for love with the lead, Josh. But as the show progresses, the two women develop a strong connection with each other, leading them to question their initial intentions and feelings.

For fans of reality TV and The Bachelor, this book offers a fun premise, especially with its twist on romance. The plot explores themes of self-discovery, LGBTQ+ identity, and navigating love in unexpected places. However, the execution left much to be desired. The connection between Krystin and Lauren, while promising, felt underdeveloped, especially as one struggled with coming out and the other with understanding her own desires. Though it touches on real struggles faced by many, the lack of chemistry made their romance difficult to fully root for.

The characters felt flat and one-dimensional, with the authors attempting to flesh them out through added details that felt forced. This made both protagonists rather unlikable, which hindered the overall enjoyment of the story. That said, there were still moments where the book achieved its intended quirky romcom vibe, making it worth a read for those looking for light entertainment with a fresh premise.

While not without its flaws, Here for the Wrong Reasons does have its moments and might appeal to fans who are looking for something fun and different in the romance genre.

I loved every moment of this fun read! It was such a fun spin on the show The Bachelor and potentially finding a more real love than the show could ever offer!

Two female contestants on a reality dating show fall for one another in this debut novel that I did not finish.

I was so excited to read this reality dating show novel starring an Ashkenazi bench from New York City. I was really disappointed when the audiobook opened with a paragraph about each of the (35?) female contestants as if the listener could hold all of that in their head. Had I the print version, I could certainly flip back to the beginning for a refreshed on which one is Sarah with an H and which one is Sara with no H and who is Jen, again? But you really can’t do that with an audiobook. I wasn’t even three characterizations in before I wondered if this was a guide that the author created for themselves to track who's who. The reader does not need to be privy to every little bit of information that the author has to know for themselves that might never show up on the page to develop character. As an editor, the first thing I would be telling the writer is to figure out a way to introduce each character that does not rely on a list to reveal who they are.

As a Jew-by-choice who loves Jewish romance, I wondering if all of these women are Jewish--was it established as a requirement for the show, or for the bachelor, and if so, are they varying levels of observance and what are Josh's parameters for a partner? It did strike me that one of the contestants reported they don’t like shrimp and another that they have not eaten meat in 12 years I immediately think well meat or fish or both like vegetarian meat you eat fish... I suppose all of this is completely irrelevant when you remember that the premise is two contestants fall for one another.

I found it hard to connect to the characters for some reason but I did have a good time reading this. I was entertained and there were some funny moments too. Overall, this book had an interesting enough plot for me to enjoy.

DNF after 20%

I had a very hard time connecting with the two main characters or the story; which makes me so sad since I’ve loved books with similar plots in the past (think The Charm Offensive or Never Ever Getting Back Together). All characters felt underdeveloped and the story was missing heart and that something special to truly grasp my attention and keep me invested.

Tv and you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free ALC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am sad to say I did not enjoy this book at all. It was very difficult for me to get into at the beginning, and I felt that the synopsis was kind of misleading. Although we do get a sapphic couple at the end, the entire book had a very straight storyline that was hard to get through. The two main characters were also incredibly annoying and honestly, just not good people. I couldn't make myself root for them or their relationship.

So! Much! Fun! The not-so-subtle Bachelor references had me giggling the whole way through. And watching the relationship bloom was really special.

I'll be reviewing this in full on my newsletter in the coming months with some other dating show romances.
