A sweet YA romance that was a great and easy read for a summer weekend. Kate is recovering from a break up and is trying to lay low with all the drama that is swirling around her. Aidan has returned home from war with both inner and outer wounds that he is having to contend with. Slowly but surely these two will have some moments and a love story will emerge. I enjoyed this book for what it was.
I think I'm too old for this book. Kate's immaturity around dealing with her diabetes actively drove me crazy while reading this. I do understand her feelings, but to actively sabotage her treatment? It's life or death. Taking insulin sucks, but not as much as dying. Which I feel like was supposed to be the contrast that Aiden provided, but it fell flat for me. The synopsis made me think they would be dealing with the bigger life problems in a more mature way. Kate's feelings are understandable, but her actions and attitude were abhorrent and I just never recovered.

Kate is a seventeen year old heartbroken girl and Aidan is a veteran who has a few obstacles. They found each other and everything just fell into place.
The characters were not all that great, they were fine. To me they didn’t feel like they were well matched.
The Summer I Found You was a sweet romance, with some pretty steamy moments.
Thank you AW Teen and NetGalley for this e-cpoy in exchange for an honest review.
I had mixed feelings about this book throughout. I couldn't immediately connect with this book; it didn't fully capture my attention until the 8th or 9th chapter. This was mainly because the characters and their self-pity with whom I just could not sympathize. I sympathized with their situations, but, Kate especially, tended to play the pity card too often for my liking.
The plot was exactly what one would expect, girl meets boy and falls in love, they have a falling out, and then they live happily ever after. It was a cute story, but lacked in a lot of places, including character and plot development.
Diversity. Serious real-life situations. Teenage Romance. This book has it all. I bought a copy for my classroom, and many students (mostly girls) have enjoyed reading this for independent reading.
This book was requested when I was young and requested more books than I could possibly read. Sadly, I no longer have access to this book and my tastes have changed. Thus I will not be able to give feedback on this title.
I got accepted to review this book years ago, but unfortunately never got around to reading it. Apologies for this.
I really wanted to love The Summer I Found You by Jolene Perry, it sounded like a great read. Yes, it's a bit sad, but I was hoping I would still enjoy it. Sadly that wasn't the case.
Sorry that this review is a few years late, but it's here now! XD
I loved this book! 5 stars, it just flew by! I loved the characters, their honestly, Aidan's openness, Kate's bluntness, and the way they just connected. This was such a cute but hard-hitting story about two people dealing with very different issues and ways of life, but that they still couldn't help their feelings. I can't wait for a relationship like theirs hopefully one day.
I just loved Aidan. His desperation at a certain part of the story, I just needed to read faster to find out what was going on, and yet I had tears streaming down my face so I could hardly see the words. I got so immersed in this story, it was exactly what I needed amongst all of my fantasy reads. I felt for Aidan so much in this story, will be reading more Perry in the future for sure.
I did not enjoy this story as much as I hope. Maybe because I have friends with type I diabetes diagnoses I found this to be almost annoying. It somewhat trivialised the disease for me. I also just found the characters to not be connectable.
Sorry, could not get to reading this book on time - thank you for the opportunity to review!
I am not going to be reviewing this book, but thank you for the approval.
A well-written and enjoyable book, I am glad I requested this title and will be more than happy to pass the title along to my fellow library purchasers.
I had a hard time rating this book because I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. It took me a while to get into the book and I just could not connect with the characters especially because they lacked chemistry. Overall the dual POV really worked and the story was a quick and unique read.
