Wow! First of all, thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this book! This was the first book I’ve read by this author, but I definitely want to read more! This story had such an interesting premise about seeing someone unexpected in a photo. I thought the characters were well developed, and just when I thought I had it all figured out, another twist was thrown! I enjoy books that have chapters from different character point of views. Without giving anything away, I want a follow up to the ending! (Please!) This was a great read!

This one had me from chapter one. I could not put it down. The story starts with a woman whose sister and 2 nephews were murdered and the 10th anniversary approaching. Her niece was badly injured in the attack, but survived. It is believed the dad did it and he hasn’t been seen since.

As Lara tries to uncover the truth, I read page after page needing answers. I had it narrowed down to two scenarios when the first twist hit. I had figured that one out, but the twist that really got me was the epilogue.

Definitely worth the read!! I had never read anything by this author but will be in the future!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookoutoure, and A.J. McDine for the ARC!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC copy! This book was great! Never would have guessed the twist! I really enjoyed Lara being a photographer, I feel like that’s an occupation I haven’t seen in a book I’ve read yet. I do photography so it was easy to relate with her and the issues that she experienced in the field. Her character felt the most relatable in general but I also enjoyed Lily and Maggie! The British slang confused me a little but that’s probably because I’m an American that doesn’t branch out too much. The plot was set up very well and I thought I could predict everything and ended up wrong about all of it.

I loved this book and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Thank you to the author and Bookouture for gifting me this ARC! I've read a few books from A.J. McDine, so I was so excited to get my hands on this one before its release on July 11, 2024. ✨

This story did not disappoint! I was hooked from the very first chapter and could not put it down. There were so many twists along the way, and even when you begin to catch on, another curveball gets thrown your way. I loved the plotline, although heartbreaking, and its development. This book was a page-turner, for sure. I rated it 4.5 stars, but rounding up because this was such a fun read. This may be the author's best book yet!

I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR list if you enjoy psychological thrillers/mysteries!

Thank you to NetGalley, author AJ McDine and publisher Bookouture for the ARC and the opportunity to review this book.

To say I was shocked more than once while reading this would be an understatement! It was so well written and hand me on edge more than once. It is a gripping fast paced thriller that will leave you speechless with its ending.

I was hooked from the first chapter right to the end. The character’s were so relatable, especially since I had once been a wedding photographer and the plot was so realistic it was like reading a true crime survivors version.

The book was detailed and suspenseful at all the right times. I read it in one sitting because I had to know how it would end.

Highly recommend and now I need to read the rest of her books!

5+⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

WOW I really enjoyed The Photo a heart in your mouth psychological thriller by A J McDine. This is my first time reading one of her books.

Lily's grandmother who i s now taking care of her and her Aunt Lara keeps in close touch with them both as they are the only family she has left to care for.

Lara is a wedding photographer and loves snapping the happy couple on their big day but there is someone who is envious of her talent and achievements and is capable of destroying her career.

Lara a keen photographer happens to capture a beautiful photo by the sea but is shocked when she sees a face from the past in the background. It is now the tenth anniversary of Isabelle and twin sons Jack and Milo and Lara is thinking has he come back to murder Lily.

There are a great many twists in this fast paced exciting psychological thriller.

It starts off slow but I actually liked the story plot and the pacing of it afterwards. It’s a whodunit it on a cold case that has been brought forward due to a tip off of information. I was eager to find out what happened and whoever was responsible for it their reasons behind it. Twists and turns. It just shows no what, some people will go to extreme lengths to get what they want. The ending was one of those 'oh okay so that is what happened' I found it not shocking enough.

A. J. McDine’s latest thriller was fast-paced and captivating. I truly thought I had the twist figured out, but the ending wrapped things up in a totally unexpected way.

If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go binge everything the author has ever written.

Omg this was amazing what a fantastic gripping thriller. It hooked me from the first chapter until the very last could not put it down. There was so many twists and turns I did not know how it was going to end and wow what an ending it was. I loved the character development and how the suspense built throughout.

Lara is helping her mum raise her niece Lily after she was the sole survivor of a family massacre. Lara’s sister and nephews were killed and Lilly left for dead. The suspect the husband who is Lilly’s father they have always believed he killed himself after the massacre. So when Lara is taking photos of a wedding and see him in the background she doesn’t know what to do then Lilly starts to remember the night it all happened. By remembering is Lilly now in danger?

I will be highly recommending this thriller to everyone. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of this amazing thriller.

A photographer, while shooting a landscape, later discovers a man in the picture -- her brother-in-law who killed her sister and nephews 10 years ago, and was presumed to be dead. She seeks to find the truth, while also trying to protect her teen aged niece who survived the attack, but has no memory of it.

This is an intriguing story where long-held truths may turn out to be false. It starts a little slowly but the action picks up considerably toward the end. I felt that it was all plausible, except for the surprise ending that had the corners tucked in just a little too neatly, and for which little to no groundwork was laid. Still, well worth a read for those who like this genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

AJ McDine is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Everything that I’ve read so far is worthy of 5 stars, however I’d definitely say this is the best book so far.
The writing style will quickly engage you in the book and the twists throughout are unexpected.
A great read and one that I’d definitely recommend.

AJ McDine writes in such an engaging way, pulling the reader right into the story, creating realism and an immediate empathy with the protagonist. The Photo is a thrilling, binge-worthy read. I always seek out books by AJ McDine. The Photo is a good thriller that is easy to read! It has subplots that you won’t see coming. It actually reads more like a mystery with a fun cast of characters. What would you do if you unknowingly took a picture of a man who had supposedly been dead for ten years? What an exciting premise for a book! The man in the photo was suspected of killing his wife, twin sons, and wounding his daughter before killing himself. Now, there is an urgency to find him and learn the truth behind the murders. It was exciting and held my interest throughout. I’m still not sure I liked the final twist but it didn’t deter too much from my enjoyment! Thanks for NetGalley for this ARC!

A massacre ten years ago, who did it and why?

Lara is just trying to live her life and help raise her niece Lily after she was the sole survivor of a family massacre. Things are going well until lily decides she’s ready to publicly explore her feelings about the massacre on TikTok. Who wants to stop her, and why?

Trust no one. Everyone is hiding something.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and AJ McDine for this ARC!
