I just couldn't put it down! A really original storyline, well written characters, so many twists and turns and I was just so invested. The characters are perfectly brought to life and its all just so true to life and realistic feeling that it's easy to get completely lost in it. I loved it!

Girl Next Door was an awesome book with many twists planted throughout the story, and an ending I never saw coming. This was a fast paced read that many will finish in one sitting.

We all think we have the perfect neighbors but deep down do we really know what goes on behind closed doors? Loyalties are put to the test and secrets thought to be hidden are revealed in this twisty page turner.

I haven't read anything by this author before but will definitely be reading others by her.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of this book.

When a girl falls from a window everyone begins searching for answers. Will they ever find out what happened or will hidden secrets bring out even more trouble? This book sank its teeth into me and would not let go until I was done! I loved the quick pace of this book and how the author put little slivers of doubt into every character to leave you guessing all the way through. Being a sucker for twists, I was pleasantly surprised this author didn’t disappoint by adding a lasting little twist right at the end. I am faithfully a Karen King fan from this day forward!

A great who done it about new neighbours who bring new life to Ness’s family and especially her two boys who are both fighting for her attention but when the young girl next door falls out of her bedroom window the finger is suspicion points not only at her boys but also at her husband and can she trust any of them. Someone is lying and Ness is only just hanging onto her family will the truth destroy everything. A great thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Girl Next Door opens with the promise of something dark happening and Vanessa, the mom next door, reflecting on how her perfect and idyllic family life being ruined by the neighbors. Will it be due to her son’s crushes on the new daughter living next door, Rachel? Or her own daughter, Erin’s affection for Rachel? Or perhaps Ben’s, Rachel’s little brother’s, jealousy of all the time she is spending with Vanessa’s family?

As it turns out it could be any of those things and some elements I didn’t anticipate. The mystery - who pushed Rachel out of her window - was great but the build up didn’t quite end in a way that was satisfying for me. This book is really all about the suspense and mystery but if you want an ending that feels solvable or even is a satisfying twist I wouldn’t say this does that. I enjoyed the ride, however, and it was well written. I’d just say this would be dependent on your mystery and thriller tastes as to whether the conclusion does it for you or not.

This book grabbed my attention from the start and kept me guessing the entire time. It seemed like every chapter, the guilty party, and the motive for the alleged crime changed. I really enjoyed following how the two families were affected and the ways it changed the family dynamics. Overall, I enjoyed this book but felt a bit let down by the ending.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
SMALL SPOILERS AHEAD

I loved the premise of this book. A new family move in next door and the kids become best friends.
Tension builds in the group and suddenly the girl falls out of her bedroom window, leaving her in a coma. The two boys are blamed and the investigation begins.

This is the type of book I would usually read in one sitting but I did take a couple of days to read this.
The middle part of this book was quite slow with Vanessa’s (the mother’s chapters) being very slow and similar.

The ending felt very rushed and very out of no where. Throughout the entire book the author wants you to believe one thing and then suddenly pushes something completely different on you. While this may work for some people, this doesn’t work for me.

Overall, I did enjoy this book. The characters were interesting but I feel like some chapters could be removed or edited down.

I love Karen’s writing, she writes such realistic characters, I can picture them so well. I really felt for both Suzy and Ness and I liked how we were nudged into wondering who had harmed Rachel.

A fab read, I thought I had it worked out but I was wrong! Please write more soon!

I love books from this author and this was just brilliant I was drawn into the storyline of this domestic thriller from the very beginning. It was full of twists and turns, so well written and I like the short chapters and how a lot of them always end with another mystery.

All the characters were extremely well written and I kept guessing who the culprit was, changing all the time but I didn't get it right unfortunately.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending and I look forward to the next one from this author.

Karen King writes great psychological thrillers and this one was no exception! I must have changed my mind a zillion times while reading as to who did what, why and when. Each time I thought I had it all figured out a new twist arrived to send me off on a tangent. If you love twisty and a surprise ending then this book is for you.

Very quick read and interesting. Vanessa wants to know if her son Jacob is responsible for Rachel's accident. Plenty of twists and turns.

If you are looking for a fast paced suspenseful read, this is the book for you. The book grabs you from the beginning, and keeps you invested hook, line and sinker throughout the entire book. The flow of the book has you thinking who could have done it and why till the very end where everything is revealed and all loose ends tied up nicely. What kept me from rating the book a 5 star was because the main characters names Aaron and Erin were just to smiliar for my liking, and a book intended for everyone to read to should set the location precisely that way the usage of words makes sense from the beginning for the plot.. However, these two points did not stop me from throughly enjoying the book. A book like this makes you wonder how often a small accusation and hiding secrets and can create cracks in any household, step families or not. I find that the plot being relatable makes it even more suspenseful because you can see events, maybe not to that extreme, happening in real life. This was my first book by this author and I am glad to say if I come across another book of hers I would read it.

Vanessa and her blended family have new neighbours. Her son and step son are both interested in the lovely teenage girl, Rachel, and fight over her.
Rachel falls from her bedroom window, and is in a coma, and her little brother claims that he saw a boy in a black hoodie run out of the house.
There is much more to Rachel's accident than everyone knows.
But Vanessa knows that she will protect her son, Jacob, as so many fingers are pointing at him for Rachel's fall.

All in all, I did enjoy this book. I could not put it down, I had to see what happened next.
Everyone was a suspect, I kept changing my mind, and I was wrong every time.
Written very suspensefully, full of lies and red herrings, I didn't know what to expect.

I have read a couple of this author's books, and am impressed every time at how I was sucked into the plot.

I recommend. 4/5.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

3 stars. Vanessa and Aaron are married. Vanessa came into the marriage with one son as did Aaron, plus they were blessed with a baby of their own. The house next door sells and a family moves in that Vanessa and Aaron are fond of. They have a teenage girl, Rachel, the same age as Vanessa and Aaron's boys. Plus they have a younger son. Things are going along fine until one day tragedy strikes and Rachel falls out the bedroom window onto concrete. Will Rachel recover and be able to tell everyone what happened? Because in the meantime, Vanessa and her family are the ones being blamed for the fall, especially Vanessa's son Jacob.

Vanessa and Aaron's marriage starts to unwind. Aaron has secrets of his own. Can they stay hidden? I love this author. I've read other books by her and loved them. This one, not too much. This was a very slow burn. Very slow. At times, it felt repetitive to me. The concept was great, but the delivery was lacking. Even the ending felt flat.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I do recommend this book, as I have issues with slow burns, but others don't and they shouldn't miss a good thriller.
